My dad passed away when I was 21. I will be 56 this November. There has not been a season that I haven't sat in the stand and shed a tear for my favorite hunting buddy. You are a lucky man. Not to take anything away from the deer it is a great buck. But to me it's all about the hunt with your dad. Thank you.
Have deer hunted with my son for 42 years. We started when he was 10. Now I'm 77 and he is 52. He's now taking me and dragging out my deer as well as his own. Couldn't hunt without him. Getting ready to go bow hunting the rut in a few weeks. Best time of the year.
May God Bless you both! I love how you both acknowledge your love for one bd other. You are both living examples of scripture in a son loving his father and a father loving his son. Thank you for sharing this very special hunt!
"He's a dandy", I love that ! What I didn't hear was "I smoked him", and I'm so glad. Hunters who say that make themselves look cheap and arrogant and you hear too many say it. I lost my dad who was my best friend a while back, so this absolutely touched my heart. Taking a "dandy" buck was great, but just spending special time with your dad is everything ! This was a joy to watch, so thank you for sharing.
Nice job. I've got two 3.5 year olds off public land. I've had tons of 3.5 year olds on camera on public. The right piece of land really makes a difference, (plus a mile plus walk). I just bought my own 80 wooded acres in Feb 2023 which is where I will do most of my hunting now.
@@1Whitetail thanks. Yeah way better than hauling stands 1.5 miles dragging a deer, gun, gear, etc. several years with hip boots in water for 300 yards. It’s nice to go out on mine on a Wednesday afternoon and climb up in my stand. Good luck to you too.
Great hunt with your dad Awesome deer A hunt that you will always remember cherish ever moment you have with him Stay safe an happy hunting this deer season
I really enjoyed this video. I love the fact that you and your dad are going to the woods having a great time together like it was meant to be. I also love the fact that your dad hunts from a summit viper. One of the best stands ever made. This video brings back good memories and lots of deer that I have killed.
Aimt nothing like a little father son bonding time , been hunting with my dad since i was 7 ,im 44 now hes 74 , been hunting out of state with him and other family members for the last 23 years ,, getting ready to go on our KY hunting trip here in 2 weeks and its like every year he gets more and more excited for the anticipation , good stuuf men 👍🏻
Thank ya sir, I cherish every moment in the woods with my pops and wouldn’t trade it for nothing. Good luck to you and your fam this season and thanks for watching!
My favorite hunt I've seen on TH-cam so far. I'm 46 my son is 21 we've been hunting together for 13 years now. It's my favorite part of deer season is hunting with my son. Last few years now he hunts with his wife for the most part but be we still hunt together some. Congratulations sir that's beautiful Ky buck.
Love your channel Justin. I've learned a few things since I've been hunting with a crossbow. Lighted nocks are a must when trying to find your bolt after the shot, and I use the 3 blade expandable NAP Spitfires. These broadheads have worked Extremely well out of my crossbow extremely accurate. I've killed 2 bucks and one doe with the same broadhead. Easy to sharpen and they have never failed to open. All deer have fell within sight, no tracking needed.
This is the perfect example of the type of relationship a father and son should have. In the woods, on the water, or at home, this is it. My dad brought me up in the woods, fishing, camping, and I wouldn’t trade those times for nothing in this world. I almost lost him about 4 years ago but GOD had bigger plans after his liver and kidney transplant. We still do it all together. He’s my hero and it looks like yours is too. Congratulations to your dad!
Cherish those moments! I’m 61 and hunted with my Dad until 2012. We started deer hunting when I was 14. He used to carry me across creeks when I was 4 years old while squirrel hunting What I would give to hunt with him again.
@@Hogmister11 I still have dreams he’s still here. Thank you! I couldn’t be with him when he passed from Parkinson’s, because I didn’t want that image stuck in my mind, having a sort of photographic memory. On the morning of his funeral, I was blessed with a flash vision of him laying on his right side with his head propped up by his right hand & laughing with the light of the heavenly throne glowing down upon him from my right & behind me. His hair was like it was in his early 30’s, his teeth were white, strait & gleaming, no longer chipped, stained & crooked. He appeared to be wearing some kind of white robe or gown, silky in appearance, I couldn’t see his feet, blurred out ate the edge of the round frame with foggy edges. Just an instant blip, as if to reassure me he was ok. Super comforting when I needed it most, & thankful I’ll get to see him again one day very soon.
Congrats on a great buck! Hope you both cherish the opportunity to hunt together as there is nothing better than a father / son or daughter spending time together in the woods!
Great hunt man lm 60 my dad passed 5 years ago we hunted together my whole life make those memories because eventually that's all we got thanks for the video
Great public ground buck. Maybe I missed it but I couldn’t help but notice it didn’t look like your dad was wearing a harness. If not, please, please talk him into wearing one. It’s too late for some, but it doesn’t have to be for him. Good hunting.
My dad had dementia now and ain’t doing the best like I knew him a few years ago. He never hunted deer but anytime I came back or he got that call I smoked one, he always showed how happy he was for me. Regardless of that deer, cherish those memories buddy. Also what part of KY do you hunt? I’m in east central. Closest public to me is Daniel Boone but I’ve never hunted public and I’m willing to give it a run for the money
I’m sorry to hear that man, and I definitely ain’t gonna take it for granted because we gonna go through it at some point. I hunt eastern KY a lot and also central and Daniel boone is one of em… good luck to you this season man and thanks for watching
Great job!! Nice buck. I had to start using a crossbow. Had 3 shoulder surgeries. I just bought a Wicked Ridge Raider 400 crossbow. I like it alot. What broadhead is he shooting? Look like a Widow Maker or a Rad Madman. I am planning on shooting a fixed blade broadhead. Public land here in places has alot of hogs. I have shot mechanicals a long time. I am either going to Ky or Tn in the spring. Always wanted to turkey hunt them.
I appreciate it man… Dad has a bad rotator cuff so he’s forced to use one as well but he def needs an upgrade on his crossbow… he’s using the wasp 3 blades
Ill say one thing. you Hogans sure bring home the meat. your right Justin get your dad off them cigs and you two will hunt for a long time. great video really enjoyed
This is my 14th year without my dad my best hunting partner ever, What I would do to have one last hunt now. I killed a nice 8 point yesterday and I know he was sitting right by my side.
@@Hogmister11 that's the only problem I had with mine was two dam loud but very good for price love the public land stuff been hunting Arkansas public the last 6 years. I grew up hunting public so it definitely hits home.. never could afford a lease so I hunt alot of government land but don’t get me wrong, I also love to hunt piles on permission farms as well but the Public bucks definitely mean a little more to me. Thanks for watching man.
