    3:58 - little nugget for you Gaff -- if you hit MSEL after setting your markpoint it will select that point as your current steerpoint so you don't have to punch it in manually!

    Amazing tutorial! You have so many great videos that teach the practical use for all these powerful tools that the F-16 has, instead of just showing us the controls like most do.
    One thing I'd like to add to this video, a tip that I got from Falcon BMS, is that instead of using the HMCS to locate the target visually after the climb, you can use CCRP so that the bomb fall line will guide you to a final visual instead without taking your eyes off the HUD. You can then use the NWS/MSL STEP button to switch back to CCIP once you have visual, and pickle like normal.

      Thanks for the tip. I will give that method a try. I have definitely picked up quite a few helpful tips from the comments on my videos!

    My workflow for this is: 1. Markpoint-Hud. 2. TMS up long to get HCMS circle. 3. Visually acquire TGT. 4. Tms up + refine. 5. TMS up to create markpoint. 6. Press 0-msel to make new markpoint SPI. That way you can mark even if you don’t have a bomb or TGP.

    Great tutorial. I'd always thought the offset turn was started at a certain distance from the target. I think using the time, 20 seconds, is a much better method. Thanks!

    • @FLYGaffer
      @FLYGaffer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The time is right there in the HUD and it adjusts with speed, which should help if you aren't RIGHT at the exact speed. You can find formulas out there and do a bunch of math. I think that pass I made could have been prettier but it worked out.

    Great video! One tip, although you might’ve figured this out already, but you can hit the M-SEL button on the ICP to immediately make a markpoint active.

    This is amazing!! I did all that (wrote it all down) and for some reason I never had the target indicator in my HUD or SOI (tad pole or anything) once I made it the mark point (ref. 4:06). I saw the 11 on my RWR and thrashed a bunch of it's SAMS but.. :(

    • @FLYGaffer
      @FLYGaffer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Did you set the markpoint as your current steerpoint after you made it? Once it is a steerpoint, everything should work as if it was a pre-planned steerpoint you made in the mission planner.
      Right now the F-16 seems to be a bit buggy as the markpoint steerpoints are occasionally appearing in different places once you create them.

      Hey there Gaffer!! Thank you for the rapid reply. I thought I did. I’ll have to try again this evening when I get home. I wrote everything down and performed the steps sequentially in tandem with your video; but I am sure I mucked something up.

      Just tried it again, step by step but then when I rolled raked right @ 20 seconds ToT and pulled up 25deg. rolled back in the target in my HUD/HMCS was off about 2-3 miles.. odd.

    • @FLYGaffer
      @FLYGaffer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @outlaw_fury1869 try hitting CZ on your targeting pod after you pull up.
      This is a new thing with 2.9 and I’m not sure if it’s a bug or a feature. I’m considering reporting it to ED

      They aren't wind corrected, so if there is wind in the mission you will have to account for that manually

    Do beware that the munitions on the wings will dud from these kind of maneuvers. Bags might even get damaged, or fly off. For a more simulation aspect to it, you should remain under 5.5G. Will require much more realistic flying.

    • @phreak761

      For boresighting, try this: On the the ground still, warm up your TPOD and your mavs. Set your tpod as SOI and then slew to anything that's on the ground like a fuel truck, runway sign, fuel tank, vehicles, even another stationary aircraft and TMS up to get a point track. DMS down to swap the SOI to your mavericks and slew to the same object. (Gimbal range on the mavs is narrower so its best if its something directly in front of your aircraft, or close to it.) TMS up to get a lock just like you would on any other target and hit the OSB on the left side of the MFD next to where it says 'BGST'. It'll flash for a second. TMS down to break the lock, step to the other weapon station and repeat. Done. You can now use your mavs easily in PRE mode. Hope this helps!

    • @mmmdawe
      @mmmdawe ปีที่แล้ว

      @@h.m.5924 except there is Parallax error, mavericks are really unusable when you start cold, or at least in auto mode. there is no way to boresight them perfectly since they can't lock onto anything, must be something lockable and far away
