    You can press M-SEL and the markpoint will become active steering point

      Does this do anything to all the other steerpoints, like adjust the coordinates in any way? Or, does hitting M-Sel just add, for example, STPT 26 and make that active? thx.

      In Mark page if you push TMS up it will just add new steering point starting from 26. If u want that new steering point become active push the M-SEL button @@keithbriscoe99

    I think you can just hit M Sel and make your mark point your active steer point. Instead of returning then putting the steer point in manually.

    Good god, watching videos like this makes me glad to be a hornet driver first. Seriously, the switchology on the viper is so unnecessarily complicated. You can tell they just added on JHMCS to a system architecture that couldn't really handle it or was designed for it.

    • @rolinthor
      @rolinthor 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I’ve had the opposite experience. Hornet feels less intuitive to me. This might be because I learned the Viper first, while you learned the Hornet first. (Also, note that many of the things he does in this video are mere personal preference. There are several different switchology paths to the same outcome.)

    • @henrikoldcorn
      @henrikoldcorn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@rolinthor in the hornet the first half of this video is basically “SSS up, TDC depress, refine with pod, done”. Markpoints optional.

    • @Icytits
      @Icytits 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Comments like this open my eyes to the fact that nobody flies the a10c anymore. This is honestly pretty damn intuitive.

    • @henrikoldcorn
      @henrikoldcorn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Icytits I find the A-10 makes way more sense. It’s all modular, I can designate a SPI from whatever sensor I want, and then slave a particular sensor to it. Yet the Viper makes you put the JDAM in visual mode in order to use the JHMCS? And then you can slave the TGP to it and you have to drop a markpoint.

    • @gregduncan
      @gregduncan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Icytits I do fly the A10 though its not my favourite bird. IMO the A10/F16 are similar in the switchology logic but as Henrik pointed out the A10 makes more sense as its more modular. I really find the F18 to have the best logic for ground attack (followed by the A10). A/A the viper is nice though.

    Can LOFT attack be done with unguided weapons ? i believe there's a paramater called " REL ANG"
    does it work or no ?

    • @Fiztex553
      @Fiztex553 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It can be done with any weapon in CCRP mode, even unguided rockets, release point will be auto-adjusted while you move your nose up. Would work for carpet bombing with streamlined munitions, but will be extremely inaccurate.

    @gaffer what did you mean at @3:06 "put that SAM on my five-nine line"? I understand the three-nine (o'clock) 90 degree perpendicular "notch" technique for avoiding doppler radars, but what is the "five" about?

    if there is no sa-10 or sa-11 or sa-5 you can just go 25k+ altt anf the sa-15 cant track at that altt !! so there is no need for lofting !!
    i do lofting in the f16 and f18 and f15E when there is an sa-10 or sa-11 or sa-5
    the sa-6 you need to go 30k+ altt
    but still great tech what you just did

    Regardless of what most are saying about the use of M-SEL.
    Can you explain why stpt 26 was your choice in number? I don’t quite understand

    • @FLYGaffer
      @FLYGaffer  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Mark Point function creates steer points starting at number 26. I created a mark point and 26 is the steerpoint associated with it. If I created a 2nd mark point it would be at 27.
      M-SEL is just a shortcut to make the mark point you just created an active steerpoint

    I am new to the F16 but I get trouble getting the JHMCS to designate a MP. So it is only possible when the JDAM is in VIS mode?? I am using usually mavericks and sometimes it is easier to spot the target outside the cabin than slewing the tpod.

    It is perhaps not that well known but as of currently dcs sam AI cant ”see” jdams on their radar becuase the jdams have a weird weapon api code description or something thus making jdam against sam arcade cheating. Just putting it out there for those that didnt already know this. It is one of the worst weapon bugs as it takes away the awsome multi launch ability of jdams which was one of their design requirement to be able to oversaturate some sam systems. I just reqlly hope ED fixes this before GBU 39 is eventually released for the strike eagle.
