I'm so excited for The Flames of Hope, and it only comes out in four more days!! Make sure to follow the spoiler policy mentioned at the end of the video.

I completely agree that the some of the dragons from Pantala are complete copies. Reading book 11, 12 and 13 it just felt like reading Sunny, Starflight but more dramatic backstory and Tsunami and Peril combined, as you said. Don't get me wrong, I love Cricket and Sundew is alright... Maybe... (I don't know! I really don't know how I feel about Sundew, Willow and the rest of the LeafWings)

I’m actually really enjoying Arc 3 the most due to it doing so many things right (assuming Book 15 pulls through), like Tui had fully learned from her mistakes of its predecessors. The brand new settings is a breath of fresh air, all the protagonists are fantastic and preserve their character development, none of the antagonists overstay their welcome, every new romance is genuine, the plot is executed phenomenally, the story keeps a very steady pace throughout without getting too slow or too fast, there’s a perfect balance of dark and goofy moments, and there isn’t an overpowered magic system that piles up plot holes.
Super unpopular opinion but Arc 3 is my favorite.

    • @Dogloverlikesdoge

Ikr, the romance is arc three is incredible. It's so overlooked, but it has the best couples in the entire series. Tui went from stale couples like Starflight and Fatespeaker to ones that actually feel genuine, like Sundew and Willow and Cricket and Blue.

I love arc three but here are my thoughts on each book so far:
The Lost Continent: I love Blue but I wish his character was more developed by the end. The plot was too much with the combination of world building. Some of the events should have been in The Hive Queen to balance both books.
The Hive Queen: Very few surprises and I expected more even though the book is the shortest in the series. I liked getting to know Cricket and there were some plot moments that were nice but that didn’t happen until the second half.
The Poison Jungle: I loved this book. One of my favorites. I think the problem was more with the characters and their interactions rather than the plot. Hawthorn was a wasted opportunity.
The Dangerous Gift: I enjoyed getting to know Snowfall and the truth about Jerboa but this book is basically filler. Didn’t exactly like how scavengers are now a bigger part of the plot.
Extra: Yeah the prologues and epilogues are not very good and should have been placed elsewhere in the story.
Overall I like this arc but it was kind of shoved in compared the the rest of the series. However I like getting to about new tribes and continent.

Arc 3 is my favorite because of the new locations and characters. I loved learning about these new kinds of dragons and their ways of life. There’s so much world building in books 11-13 and they’re definitely my comfort books of the series.
And then there’s book 14, which is the perfect crossover between books 1-10 and 11-13. Seriously, this book is as much a sequel to book 10 as it is to book 13. Seeing all these characters from different books finally interacting with each other was amazing.

It's difficult to say for me. I found Arc 3 quite interesting because of the whole new environment. Not to mention Pantala's Victorian-style development compared to the medieval settings of Pyrrhia. In my opinion, this is the reason Arc 3 is less exciting for most of us readers. We were used to the old-fashioned setting of Pyrrhia, where everyone lived in kingdoms. On Pantala, however, dragons have come a long way and arguably live in skyscrapers. Modern outtakes of fantasy worlds tend to feel a bit awkward to some, if not most, people including myself. Especially here where Pantala and Pyrrhia are in two completely different stages of development of civilisation

I actually really like arc 3, although I would change a few things, its really entertaining. Now this is going to be a really unpopular opinion, I like arc 3 more than arc 1. I just don't really like the characters. In arc 3, yes, Blue is a copy of Sunny, and I don't like him that much, but I love Cricket, and book 14 is really fun to read. We haven't gotten anything like Queen Wasp before in Wings Of Fire. But, my opinion is still wavering because I haven't read book 15.

Honestly, given how EXTREMELY disappointed I was with how Arc 2 ended (mainly in regards to Darkstalker's fate, contradicting messages and themes, and Moonbli being a thing), I thought Arc 3 was a breath of fresh air and made up for that massive blunder (so far at least, I have yet to read The Dangerous Gift and The Flames of Hope).
I haven't read any Wings of Fire books in ages, but I remember thinking that The Lost Continent was one of the weaker entries in the series, and really enjoyed The Hive Queen and loved The Poison Jungle. Will Tui be able to stick the landing for the ending this time unlike Arc 2? I'm hoping so, but I'm being cautious at the same time.

I don't think arc 3 is bad, rather it's interesting and entertaining, and I find the villain of the arc incredible and fascinating (a plant that controls other creatures) and is very different from what we've seen before in the series, and has themes such as dystopian society (with references to 1984), conformism, how the winners alter history, jungles with giant carnivorous plants (like ice age 3), put yourself in someone else's place and see their lives, Forbidden but genuine loves and etc.

  • @ShadowAnzelx

I agree Arc 3 has been very underwhelming. I lowkey agree that the Poison jungle story was filler book but I think we got some very insightful revelations and plot progressions in it like knowing where the leafwings have been living, understanding what makes the Poison jungle so dangerous, Leafspeak, Io is alive, Origins of the breath of evil, a small adventure finding the breath of evil, Hope for an antidote then major uno reverse card plottwist and then a pretty awesome cliffhanger!(I started reading WOF in 2020 and I can't imagine having to read this in 2019 and surive till 2021 to complete the story). But TBF I read the books & then listened to the audio book after so I get a more rounded view of the story and writing wise it was the most coherent and complete book of arc 3 for me but will agree Sundew is a carbon copy of Tsunami. Hive Queen felt like the Lost continent with blue replaced for Cricket and The Dangerous Gift, Snowfall is my absolute favourite Protag of Arc 3 but it felt like a montage of other Dragons perspectives most of the time especially Jerboas chapters at the end it definatly left me with wanting more snowfall.
The Lost Continent was super wierd, I didn't like blue and took me a while to adjust my mind when I was reading it, I just couldn't imagine a hive city properly without thinking of roads with cars on them and I have so many questions like did the hive wings technology? I remember they had some kind of arm band that activates remotely to inject venom like WHAT???
feels also like Tui tried to create an entire world too rushed and manufactured too many random conflicts to make us care about these random side characters like Io, Bryony, Greyling & hemlock.

I don't remember the chapter of the Dangerous gift but Spoilers:
I like arc three but I'm a bit worried that the series is going to try to redeem Wasp. In the Dangerous gift when Snowfall is in Blue's head Wasp for some reason talks about how why she is the way she is and how when was child she was afraid that the Silkwings and Leafwings we're going to hurt the Hivewings so she took them over and said about them being evil and she took them over and was being the most evil of all

    **SPOLIER WARNING FOR BOOKS 11-14**
I actually have almost the complete opposite opinion! I like the first three books but could hardly start book 14 (though it did get better as the book went on (tbh it felt like book 14 WAS the filler book compared to the others lol))
I like Blue's character because, he is Brainwashed (kinda-sorta), his whole life he has been oppressed by the HiveWings, forced to live as a lower class citizen, and over the book he has to unlearn his entire world view as he goes on this unexpected adventure cross-continent while he still doesn't have his wings (which is a fascinating concept btw, dragons not getting their wings until they're older?? I would LOVE a winglet from the pov of a young SilkWing and their life during the time they don't have their wings, Tui gave us some details on this but still!) And the entire thing with his dad and the other flamesilks? Sheeeeessshh, do NOT want to be Blue!
I like Cricket do to her personality, a courios young dragon who wants to to learn everything that she can (honestly I feel like Cricket is more like Sunny then Blue is but thats just me) and also, do you not have any older siblings?! Because if *I* found out that my sibling was not my sibling and was my MOM and my fake-mom had been abusing me my whole life, I'd be pretty upset!! Like WHAT? It's world shattering!
Sundew is my seconed faviorte, only behind My Queen of Fire Peril. Sundew is just so relatable to me, she just wants to live her life and love Willow but her parents keep soufacting her, and Hawthorn is completely slept on imo, he was banished from his tribe and left to rot, the only thing that kept him company is an evil voice inside his head that he can't get rid of. That's HORRIFYING! Having your mind being slowly striped away as you can't talk to anyone besides the voice inside your head. Horrifying.
Book 14 was just sortta boring to me. Snowfall felt pretty boring and flat, Lynx is my baby and I'll fight anyone on that. The most interesting part was the dream sequances and the twist that the ring was alive. And Winter finding out about Wren and Sky was hallriours!
But these are just my opinions on the books and I just wanter to share them

This is why I have a personal AU about the events on Pantala, excluding most of the canon characters. I’ll explain one part; The Tree Wars:
(Now know I haven’t read arc 3, so this will probably be very different).
Monarch, Wasp, and Sequoia have been made queen of their respective tribes. Monarch is a care-free dragon, but cares deeply about her SilkWings. Sequoia is a strict and judgmental monarch who tries to rule with wisdom and justice. And Wasp is a dragon who seems emotionless at first, but deep down *does* care about her tribe.
HiveWings and LeafWings in this Pantala have a long history of hatred for each other. Wasp and Sequoia are no different. Sequoia wants the LeafWings to control the other tribes. After all, they are the only ones who can keep the Breath of Evil at bay. Wasp wants to control the other tribes as well, but because she thinks her hive system is the best way to live.
The three queens meet together to discuss and hopefully smooth out the discourse, but instead Wasp and Sequoia grow more bitter with each meeting. Finally, Sequoia and Hawthorn plan in secret to use the Breath of Evil as a threat to make Wasp and Monarch obey their commands. But Wasp’s spies hear about this, and report this plan to her. She decides to launch a counter attack, and starts planning. But one day, as she was walking along a well-trodden path, a little plant on the walkway looked eerily familiar. It was the Breath of Evil. Wouldn’t it be poetic if Wasp used the very thing supposed to destroy her to destroy her attackers?
And thus, the Tree Wars began. The power this plant gave her drove Wasp insane, and she commanded the flamesilks to destroy the forests (the SilkWings were under Wasp’s rule by now). The LeafWings fought back though, and Sequoia killed Wasp herself… or so she thought. You see, this plant wasn’t any other plant. It was similar to the cordyceps fungus, but could control much larger things than just insects. It was what made Wasp mentally unstable enough to do things she would never do by herself (ex. Destroy the very forest all the dragon tribes depended on). But now, with no brain to “control” the Breath, it could use Wasp’s body and any other dragon it could get its spores on as puppets to do its own bidding. That being to continue populating until nothing was left.
(Yes, I was inspired by ArtisticAngel Lucas. It’s a zombie apocalypse.)

i actually liked arc 3, but well, i gotta admit that the lost continent is not as interesting as it could be, but i do like the hive queen, i never thought of the poison jungle as a filler, i liked it, i don't really like the dangerous gift (mostly because i don't like icewings, except lynx, she is the only icewing that i like)
and spoiler (i don't know if i still need to mark it, but i'll do it anyways)
it's not a lot of a spoiler, but when i was reading the flames of hope, i had a feeling of reading a history book, which was really boring, when i bought this book i was really excited about it, but when the plot went to the void, i really felt more exhausted of this book after every chapter, i know there's people who liked and i can tell why, it was just not my type of the story

Honestly I didn’t like the dangerous gift because of Snowfall’s personality. In Winter turning she seemed a lot darker, colder, and.... smoother I guess? She acted a lot like how cobra lily acts in my opinion, and I feel like snowfall’s franticness and aggressiveness in the dangerous gift wasn’t very exciting, where as if she had a personality like cobra Lily’s I think her perspective could have been more unique.

Also I think animus magic is still gonna be here.
Because the spell was to take all animus magic from any dragon who is alive today.
    TODAY
So that’s why in my au, I have at least 2 characters with animus. A mother and her daughter. Luckilly not all of her sibs.
But I feel like that dragons will have the inactivated power over animus and they can still pass over the gene!
I know a lot of people said that, but I just wanna say this, because why not!
And also to the animus lovers who lost hope for a second.

I do love arc 3 but there was downsides too.....In The Lost Continent, when they were in the underground area was kinda a waste of time, we could of used that time to have more time with luna and admiral. Or with the fight against the libraraian. The hive queen was my fav book But those chapters at the beginning was kinda a waste we were just waiting for blue it should've started when blue was out of metamorphosis so we could get more time in jewel hive. Sundew's book was good too But tbh I dont see any downsides.... But the poison jungle is not my fav even know it has no downsides ( the only downside was probs nettle) The dangerous gift WAS AMAZING too.

Book 3 and book 4 and especially book 5 are the most interesting of arch 3. But that’s bad because book 2 and 1 are the beginning books and introduce the setting and situations. They made arch 3 entirely worse. I loved book 3 a lot it was really interesting and I couldn’t put it down; I liked sunlow and thought the two leaf wing villages were cool. As well as book 14. It wasn’t as good, and the middle part of it was kinda filler, but the beginning and end were awsome. I like snowfall. SPOILeRS. Book 15… book 15 omg where to start. Book 15 is probably one of my most fav wof books. I love Luna x swordtail, and I absolutely ADORE the scene where sword and Luna are kids and rebel against the mean hivewing yard aid. I love freedom so much and I feel so bad for her. Im glad Luna renamed her instead of her dieting having cottonmouths chosen name. I wish we got to see more of the epilogue because of how good it was.

    *SPOILERS*
While I enjoy Arc 3... there are somethings I disliked about it
    1. Really? Do humans *have* to play a huge role? Fine, yes, we can have Wren... but having one of the Othermind hosts be a human? Was that necessary?
    2. The plant is the main villain... why
    3. The ending of book 3 with Blue and Swordtail being mind controlled and Luna being book fifteen's protagonist. OF COURSE SHE WOULD TRY TO SAVE THEM! THEY'RE HER BROTHER AND BOYFRIEND!
While doing both SilkWings wasn't the worst, I wished someone else had been mind controlled instead of both of them like Sundew because than the Othermind would be a bigger threat... or someone who Luna doesn't have the closest connections to, instead of it being "OH NO! MY BOYFRIEND AND BROTHER GOT MIND CONTROLLED, I HAVE TO SAVE THEM!"
Like really? Did both of them had to be mind controlled? Why not Blue and Sundew for example? (I don't hate them, well Blue used to annoy me). That would mean the Othermind could spread faster.

I agree with pretty much everything you said in this video. Arc three is by far the weakest arc and though I did enjoy a lot of it I feel like it could have been way better. One perk of this ark is that I feel it has been way more philosophical and deep than the others, which I have to admit I kind of like. Despite that, I was dissatisfied with the majority of the books. However, I did not really like book 14 due to its lack of action compared to the terrifying cliffhanger that book 13 ended with I thought it was kind of a let down. Another reason I didn't like 14 was because it didn't set up a final battle between infected Pantala and United Pyrrhia. This would be the coolest ending ever but it doesn't even look like that is going to happen. This may be too person but it is my honest opinion on the books

I do still think it's the worst arc (other two arcs are more competent in general) but it really does have some standout books: book 13 and 14 are some of my favourites overall, and book 12, although having some major flaws, has some amazing moments in it too! Some notable parts of it include Wasp's visit to the hatchery, Cricket being thrown in jail, and Lady Scarab. I do disagree with you on the fact that basically all of the characters in arc three are carbon copies of eachother. It just happens in stories, especially when you have so many characters, and personally it's not a detriment to my enjoyment of any book series

Arc three is fine, but it’s my least favorite out of the three. I don’t really care much about the protagonists of the book, other then Cricket. Because I relate to her. Most of my Favorite characters where introduced in arc 1 or 2, I don’t mind the protagonists, like i like sundew just fine. But they just don’t interest me as much as the characters in the first 2 arcs.
I like how it has more representation of lgbtqia+, Sunlow is actually my favorite ship in wof, but the story, I don’t care much for the story personally. So, the arc isn’t BAD per say, but its not GOOD either imo.
