Queen Coral is a dragon that a good amount of the fandom dislikes due to her overprotectiveness, but there is more hiding beneath the surface. Because Coral really shouldn't be forgiven, especially if you look at some of the awful things she has done that tend to get overlooked...
Omg YES. She’s probably the only immoral queen in the franchise who flew under everyone’s radar. Somehow. She literally tore one of her guard’s teeth out right in front of everyone without even questioning them first. I get she had it rough with losing her daughters and husband, but still. She killed so many of her own innocent SeaWings who had nothing to do with that.
Ikr! She terrified her citizens and tortured some in front of her literal dragonet... no wonder Anemone turned out so awful! The animus magic certainly didn't help.
Coral is definitely my favorite Queen because she is displayed as being an awful person without making her comic book evil like Scarlet. Or just overtly in your face malicious like Blister and Burn. You grow to hate Coral in a really authentic way. One of Tui’s best characters.
She is definitely a terrible queen, but she feels a bit too realistic-evil. I like scarlet more because of how overtop and comical she is. Still feels like fiction
She also endangered Tsunami's life and I believe personally threatened to kill her in The Lost Heir when she started protecting Auklet's egg. And the fact that her subjects expected that to happen makes her even worse.
Yeah, she even did threaten to kill Tsunami and NOBODY talks about that! If Tsunami let Auklet's egg die, even by accident, she said she was going to kill her. I understand that she was upset because it was her last egg she had with Gill... but you don't need to threaten one of your only two daughters!
@@DogloverlikesdogeI actually heard people confuse that statement thinking Coral meant the other egg that was smashed and not Tsunami. Which makes no sense given the context
@@midnightthesmartfox9981i mean doesn't she say something like "if anything happens to the egg, I'll lose two daughters *that* day" or something? Meaning the egg and Tsunami since the other egg was already smashed on a previous day
i HATE how tui brushes off coral's abusive behavior just because she had one talk with turtle and is nice to auklet or whatever...like she's literally awful, not just as a mother but as a queen in general.
I'm so glad someone brought this up! Even though Coral is improving a little bit (like her brief appearance in Talons of Power and the letter to Turtle in Darkness of Dragons), I will never forgive her brutality as queen.
She is second to worst mother. She treats all of her kids like treasure or trash. She openly slanders her daughter. and kills her subjects without any hesitation just because her daughter is who she would probably treat just like tsunami died from something that was out of their control.
Goodness thank you! Finally, someone talking about how abusive, dangerous, and selfish she is. She is, without a doubt, one of if not THE worst queen in Pyrrhia right now. The only reason she wasn't the worst queen in the series is because she was competing with Scarlet at the start.
And yet the fandom sort of dismisses her behavior :( I have to admit, I did at first while reading the books. But then when I thought back upon it... she's more awful than some of the villains!
I think we dismiss it the first time because we expect someone to call her out on her actions later on. But her actions are never brought up again after book 2.
Lol one day my best friend asked me what I thought the worst Wof queen was. I quickly answered with queen coral and her response was “what?! Corals so sweet? Why don’t you like her?” And I was like………….. are you reading the same series? \:
Not just Scarlet. I'd say that Wasp, Battlewinner, Diamond, Lagoon and Vigilance are also quite a bit worse than Coral. But among the queens alive at the end of arc 3, she's by far the worst.
I am aware that Coral is half insane (Poor Tortoise), but she still suffered a lot in her life, she killed her first daughter by accident, many of her daughters died, she was manipulated by Blister and she just lost her husband. All those traumas of hers affected her a lot and she led her to overprotect her daughters and she took it out very cruelly on her guards. Although she is insane and yes, she is not my favorite character, I can't say that she is completely bad, she loves her family, in the finals of the 2 arc I saw her less insane.
''manipulated by Blister'' Oh come on now. If the dragonets could see right through Blister's bullshit, than Coral, an adult, should have too. Her bad actions are all her own, Blister can't be blame for that.
@@legrandliseurtri7495 Sometimes it takes the eyes of a child to see throguh the lies we become endoctronated into beleiving as adults? idk. ... Anyways, I think Coral *was* maniplulated by Blister to an extent, but she was *only vulnerable* to it because of *her own flaws.*
She didn’t even care about her children. if you weren’t a girl you were trash that she barely knew the names of. If you were a girl she treated you like a treasure piece to be decorated and masqueraded around like another pearl on her crown.
"no, you see, it was actually very tragic because at the end of the day all she was just trying the protect her childr-" nah you bad get your comeuppance
Right?! I feel like she gets too much of a pass when she LITERALLY THREATENED TSUNAMIS LIFE!! ("If anything happens to that egg, I'll lose two daughters that day"- Queen Coral, The Lost Heir)
@@voidfloof and even anemone and her subjects expected Queen Coral kill Tsunami too! Tsunami didnt realize until it hit her that she was 'Taking Turtoise's place.'
Ikr, nobody even talks about that. She threatened her daughter... I know she was upset because it was her last egg with Gill, but there's no excusing that kind of a threat. It just shows how shallow she really is, because one moment she was giving Tsunami a huge hug and the next she was threatening her if she failed something that nobody had been successful with before.
@@kingworldadventures I read it as "the assassian would probly kill them both." As awfull as Coral can be, one of her main motivations was wanting to have a heir; so I doubt she would be willing to risk killing any of her dauhters, (even if she thoght said daughter killed another of her dauhters.)
Yes, finally! I see a lot of people liking Coral, and feeling bad for her, because she “lost her babies!”. While I do feel a little bad for her, since losing your children is horrible, it was pretty much her own fault. She knew that Anemone survived when she was with her all the time, but she just didn't send anyone into the hatchery to protect her eggs, or got them out of their to hatch them somewhere else? She just doesn't care about anything except for her daughters, and brutally murdered all the guards who failed to protect them. Gill was begging her to spare Abalone, and she just didn't care! I think your spot on with her being a sociopath. And then she started dragging Anemone around on a harness, and she does the same thing with Auklet as well… She doesn't even really love her daughters, I think, she just wants to control everything they do. She has one nice scene where she told Turtle that it wasn't her fault that Abalone died, but that's it. She's horrible, and she's my least favourite character in the series, because her massive faults are never acknowledged in the books.
Abalone was in the nusery though, it was only when he fainted and Gill had to get him help that the eggs Abalone was protecting were killed, but oh yes, she is a psycho. She knew how dangerous the nursery was for her eggs but didn’t care when they kept dying cause tradition was more important to her than their well being. They could have made another more secure nursery in another location and leave that creepy statue in the old one to ‘look’ after the the male eggs she doesn’t care about.
I think maybe Bluejae's "More" MAP is partly to blame. (I love it so much, but it does paint Coral as the victim in these situations.) It has clearly had a large impact on the fandom because it was the first WoF video to hit a million views.
Does Queen Coral ever think of all the daughters her sons could have? Like that’s a lot of potential heirs and if one of them won, it negates all the other royalty branches.
The fact that Coral killed Webs' wife is the thing that makes me hate her. I think you should do a short video on Webs', analysing his betrayal to Coral, and his relationship with the Dragonets and Riptide.
@@thenyan3095 You're exactly right! You think she would have forgiven Webs because he indirectly saved Tsunami's life (even if it was by accident), but no. She still hates him. Does Coral not realize she would have only had one heir if the ToP hadn't taken her daughter??
I myself have somewhat overlooked Coral's negativity. This might be because, compared to most of the other queens in arc 1, she was the relative best of them (maybe except Moorhen, but we didn't see much of her). Then in arc 2, there were improvements in her behaviour (albeit not many) which painted over her previous downsides. I mean, Tui literally put in The Lost Continent "...thank you for being nothing like any of these dragon parents"
I despise Coral for being so mean to Webs’ entire family especially Riptide because even though people say he was too boring or bland, I loved his chill personality and at times I could find myself heavily relating to him. I also hate how she basically kept her daughters in prison by attaching that harness to them which basically made them not be able to go anywhere
Also, Coral lost her general Tempest too...I mean...she has gone through so much...I still think that Tui should have explored her character more. I have a fan story about the SeaWing kingdom during the war and while writing it I realized how much Coral suffered. Also, I still think there was potential to write about Tsunami telling her the truth about Gill and maybe Coral forgiving her, leaving behind her past to try to finally build a healthy relation with her daughter.
Tsunami could have become Coral if they hadn't met. ... Tsunami is also abit narcisistic, overprotective, and quick to violence. ... But becuase they did meet, Tsunami was able to basicly take a merror to her own flaws, recognise them, and grow.
THANK YOU! So many people pity her and say “Oh, well she’s still grieving for Orca and is just trying to protect her future daughters,” but that’s not an excuse for her terrible actions!
Yeah! I think Auklet will eventually grow up to be the queen rather than Tsunami or Anemone. (Because Tsunami is already preoccupied with Jade Mountain Academy and the issues with that, and Anemone is still struggling with having a normal life after everything that has happened with her.) Auklet would be a great candidate, and I'd imagine her as a good-natured queen.
@@Dogloverlikesdoge Auklet is the best candidate so far. Hopefully she learns from the mistakes of Coral and finds out how to be a better mother/queen.
I think Auklet would be the best option. Tsunami just doesn't want to be a queen anymore, and has a school to deal with, and Anemone is honestly torn apart by now and might snap due to animus magic. Hopefully if nothing happens to Auklet (IF SOMETHING DOES, I WILL KILL TUI), she'll become queen.
And I think her decision to keep Auklet harness is due to fear or losing another family member. Even though the Assian is defeated, It doesn't change the fact that Coral lost many more daughters to it then are still alive. Also, Auklet is younger and she along with her sisters have a very high profile due to their royal status. So everybody knows where they live. So Coral did become less protective when Orca's statue was defeated. And there's no indication that Auklet was attached to her mother when the latter attended another meeting in TDG. Queen Coral was also present when the Three SandWing sisters confronted each other for the last time. There's no mention of Auklet or Anemone being with their mother at that time.
I can't overlook Coral's actions at all. I've read these books and I have to say, she is just the worst. Even after the assassin was revealed she still chose to continue helicopter parent her daughters. And she just has no faith in the dragons around her. Even if they tried so hard to please her, like Abalone, guarded an egg dispite the strange sickness she still disposed them by murdering them if they failed. I can't justify this but it's no wonder Anemone wanted to use her magic to kill Coral, she just refuses to see the can of worms she has opened.
Coral A) Did not care about her sons, at all B) Was as easy to gain favor with as praise (Whirlpool and her niece) C) Didn't care about Tsunami, was willing to kill her if Auklet died D) Completely rejected all criticism E) Never learned anything from her mistakes, ever.
Lagoon: Tortured her brother after what he did to their sister, didn't want her grandnephew marrying Indigo, called Indigo low-born Pearl: Somewhat of an improvement, but literally kept her bro away from Indigo for fear of becoming their their crazy murder grandpa Coral: *this entire video* _When will the SeaWings get a decent queen??_ Okay, imo Pearl was the best out of the three I mentioned, and she had fair reasons for her actions and decisions, but was it really fair to Fathom? Idk
She’s just lucky he was traumatized from using his claws though why hadn’t she seen that? Why isolate him? I mean, throughout his time knowing he were an animus, he was pretty excited to enchant his own thing. He thought he could do it non-stop till Albatross snapped. Though Darkstalker is a prequel and going in order by books not lore, Anemone is our first animus in the series. I wonder how Fathom and Indigo were able to even return to the Sea Kingdom, now that they had dragonets.
I think Coral is a good example of a gray character. She’s done horrible things, has an extreme lack of empathy, and is a toxic mother, but honestly I don’t think she’s doing any of this out of malice. It doesn’t appear that she realizes she’s being terrible. She’s been through really traumatic events (accidentally killing her first daughter after she challenged her, the brutal death of her husband in the skywing arena, and loosing countless daughters before they even hatched). I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to assume she’s not completely sane, so maybe this ties into some of her very cruel decisions. But the point is that Coral isn’t completely heartless, she loves her daughters and loved her husband. One can’t say she’s evil through and through, because she’s not. I think Tui made a really good character with Coral and I love that she didn’t simply make her heartless
I’m like a year late :’) But yeah, Coral is literally such a terrible dragon, and queen. And I’ll state the obvious reasons- -Doesn’t care about her sons, and suddenly did in Turtle’s book with almost no lead up. -Killed Web’s wife, and mistreated Riptide his whole life at the Sea Kingdom, eventually exiling him with no fair reason. -Used her own daughter for magic, potentially risking her soul, and along with Blister, treating her like a tool. -Threatened to kill Tsunami if she let Auklet’s egg die, and when Tsunami AND Auklet came out alive, she locked Auklet’s literal savior and her friends in a prison because Blister said so. -Mistreats her guards, and kills them when they mess up. -Definitely the reason Anenome grew up to be such a spoiled brat. -Seemingly, ignores Gill’s opinions, and wanted Abalone dead against his will.
I agree with the rest, but i don't really agree about Anemone being a brat. Agter she had the burden of losing her soul for killing her gr**mer taken off her, she really bedame a normal dragonet
Wow honestly i sympathized with her bc of her daughters being slaughtered and i still do but no that you add up her wrongs, I never realized how horrible she was. I do hope she turns around bc i do find her likeable to a degree. Maybe her daughters will be the impact she needs
I really hope she does change. I know Tui is trying to show that by her being closer to Turtle, but I want a scene at the end of book fifteen where everyone gathers together and reunites with their loved ones, and we can see Tsunami going back to Coral *with* all of her brothers there. It would show she is starting to care for them more.
While I do kinda Sympathize with coral, she is terrible, I’m honestly surprised that all her sons seemed to turn out so well from what we’ve seen of them,
I hope if we get another seawing POV it’s either one of the subjects (preferably a kid of or one of the abused guards) or another one of Corals sons, but one that didn’t turn out like turtle and instead was super awful
We haven't seen much of her sons, so maybe they turn out worse then we think... (But we still saw Turtle, who was pretty normal, but also a bit too pre-occupied with his fears of animus magic.)
Coral is in the grey area for me. I don’t hate her as much as I hate some dragons, but she’s far far from my favorite. She doesn’t care about her tribe, And she really doesn’t make sense. Like, she whines about her heirs being killed, yet says “if anything happens to that egg…I’ll lose two daughters that day.” she’s willing to KILL one of her heirs! Like, what?? Didn’t she want them to live? She was even mad at webs for stealing tsunamis egg when she’s willing to kill her herself. Coral is frustrating, doesn’t make sense, and I can’t see what Gill sees in her. (Though, there are some times when she is nice.) gosh this is way too long-
I don't think Queen Corals hatred towards Web's wife or Riptide is Sociopathic behavior on her part. Now I don't think Coral was right to punish Web's family for his actions. But I believe that her decision extend her animosity towards Riptide and his mother is due to fear that they'd betray her as well. Also Web's Wife was punished to in large part of her own actions. In TLH it's revealed that she died as cannon fodder not necessarily because she married Web's but rather because she helped him steal Tsunami's egg. This reinforced the idea she had about Riptide betraying her as well.
Queen Coral also believes that Web's is evil because of Tsunami's abduction. As Kidnapping is usually considered amoral. And while Webs only stole Tsunami's egg for the sake of completing the prophecy which would in turn bring peace, Queen Coral didn't see it that way and TBH The Talons had an unfortunate habit of committing morally questionable acts during the War of SandWing Sucession.
Coral's relationship with her sons is actually complicated. I don't think Coral meant to offend Turtle when she said he was useless when it came to succession laws. I think when Queen Coral rhetorically asked Tsunami if anyone cares about her brothers, She wasn't thinking about how Turtle would feel. Queen Coral was being inconsiderate when she belittled Turtle within the latter's earshot. However, when Turtle failed to find Snapper, she didn't hold him accountable for the deaths of the clutch Snapper was supposed to look after, but accepted it as a consequence Turtle couldn't reverse. When Turtle returned to his home in ToP, Coral allowed him to talk to her. Coral didn't send her son away and felt guilty when she found that Turtle still blamed himself for not finding Snapper. In the epilogue of DoD, she even sent him a letter and said that he can visit her anytime he wished.
Oh. My. Lord. This is amazing!!! It goes into details without the extras and overall, just fantastic, beautifully said and... PERFECT! Could you go into the analysis of burn, blister and blaze? It mentions a lot of their childhood in the prologue of the 5th book, I would love to see one of those!
I don't even need to watch this vid to agree with you! As soon as I read The Lost Heir and the way she killed Tortoise I never would like her again! *cough cough* (Her letter to Turtle at the end of Darkness of Dragons)
She put so much pressure on Anemone when she was so little, since she was an animus she had to work on stuff to dragons, and she didn't get a good childhood she was attached to her mother her almost whole life.
This probably won’t happen, but just for the 0.001% chance that I actually get noticed, could you discuss different things that make no sense in Wings of Fire. (Like for example the fact that Peril can touch rock, but not metal, despite metal having the average higher melting point, the fact that human/scavenger‘s technology hasn’t evolved in 5000 years, or how there’s a desert located next to an arctic thundra…)
1.Peril's scales are very inconsistent yeah. 2.Our ancestors spent much more than 5000 years without major technological advancement, so I don't see an issue here. Especially considering the flying fire-breathing giant predators. 3.If you look at how big the west of the continent is, it's not unbelievable that there is transition from desert to tundra. It's also not unbelievable that something about that region's ground or climate keeps it from growing trees anywhere. The actual issue is that how fast dragons fly seems to change from one book to another. Ex: In Darkstalker, Clearsight, Fathom and him casually fly over seemingly the entire sandwing desert and back in like a day. In the brightest night, it takes several days for Sunny and the nightwings that she's following to make it from the rainwing forest to Scorpion's den. Wtf?
@@legrandliseurtri7495 2. Humans invent new technology for two major reasons. Curiosity and survival. Some of the greatest inventions were made in spacefaring and WW2. The presence of dragons should’ve actually accelerated technological progress as it would be necessary to do so in order to survive. 3. Good point, nothing to add there.
Coral is a fantastic character in the lost heir, but afterwards, I dislike that in all her appearances, everyone act like she's fine person. I'm not against her staying queen or facing zero repercussion for her actions, sometimes bad people simply get away with what they've done, but why are no main characters acknowledging how much she sucks?
Yes Queen Coral is bad. Not as bad as Scarlett, but she completely ignored many different things and she was killing for no reason this is solid proof that she is bad
Coral is also very stupid, she had over 30 male dragonets while trying to get an heir. Like, i bet Orca had at least one brother and THEY could have dragonets. Sorry Albatross, looks like one of your decedents undid all your hard work at the massacre.
Queen Coral didn’t even seem to care of that tsunami was attacked in the entrance tunnel to the summer palace. The only thing she cared about was her eggs. I understand they were unborn, but she should’ve still cared about tsunami.
I have a what if idea. What if kinkajou died from her wounds in book 7 I think this would spark a lot of new conflict between the second generation of DoD (Moon, Winter, Turtle, Qibli) and Queen Glory. Maybe this will cause Glory to retaliate on the other Nightwings because a Nightwing killed kinkajou. Or maybe she will take it out on Moon. I hope you see this idea and take it into consideration. Also love the content bro.
Im surprised no one js bringing up yhat queen coral Literally THREATENED to KILL tsunami if anything happend to akulets egg. Like she was so happy to see ehr daugter alive then well? Then threatens to kill her if the egg gets destroyed!? Thats just messed up
Speaking of Tortoise, I no longer believe she deserved to die so brutally, I do agree with Coral that Tortoise was incompetent when it came to protecting her eggs. I know that Tortoises decision to abandoned her post was explained by the fact that she didn't think the eggs would be in any danger do to A. She was right outside of the entrance when she ate her meal. B. Nobody knew about the statute at the time so Tortoise thought that if the assassin arrived to destroy the Queen's eggs she would've noticed this in advance. However Tortoise was not the 1st SeaWing to be assigned to guard Coral's eggs. Presumably many of the pervious guards made the same mistake or similar ones to Tortoise. I bet they only intended to be gone for a minute or two or as little as a second. And like Tortoise, they didn't stray far from the hatchery so they were confidant that they too would be able to return to the eggs before anything bad happened to them. I'm sure Tortoise knew how that went. So she should've known that for some reason leaving the hatchery even for a minute buys the assassin enough time to destroy the eggs. Abalone knew this, that's why he never left the hatchery even when he was sick. Too bad Coral killed him anyway.
Tsunamis egg has been stolen from queen coral and tsunami was handeld by kestrel, dune and webs and they where abusive parents and queen coral is also also a abusive mother where I realize that
Can’t tell if she were referring to losing Tsunami if the egg died as well, or if she’d lose both eggs as the one in the hatchery was already destroyed.
I have to first three books of Wings of Fire that I bought in 2019 so I can't watch this video until I read my first three Wings of Fire Books that I own!
This is a theory I have put no thought into but I don't know when Coral was born but maybe the war hardened her and made her more aggressive or maybe Coral's mother was horrible
Terrible mother that had a daughter that I absolutely hated for most of talons of power because she was a spoiled brat that thought she could do anything with her animus magic (but I liked anemone a bit more at the end of talons of power) also coral is very selfish
Not gonna lie i mostly didn't care about Keran i mean Coral (pun intended). But you are absolutly right she needs to change. Two of my seawing ocs are in different ways related to her and both stay far away from her. One is Leviathan who in case would be her nephew who out of consern of his mother lives in the rainforest (Leviathan is a animus and his mother call Mizu is a rebellion). The other one call Reef is one of her sons who like Turtle has animus powers but keeps them hidden from coral. Reef tho used the to created a timemachine by entchanting a hourgalss to go back to the time of Fathom in hopes to live with him Indigo and there dragonets if coral ignors him. Reef was regless enough to tell them who he is and when he came from. And finaly what do you think of my story concept here? Is good or bad? Or thoes it make no sens?
Yeah, I wouldn't really consider Coral a great queen after reading Lost heir but compared to some of the other queens . . . . she's better than a good portion of them. Blister, Blaze and Burn never should have lead anyone. Scarlet is a monster. The Rainwing queens were all morons. Battlewinner . . . uhhhh. I don't know anything about Glacier. Queen Moorhen actually had nightmares about her subjects deaths in the battle so at least that shows she cares about them.
Hey sorry for asking this 6 hours later but I think you should make a part 2 on you what ifs you kinda left a lot of them on the edge I understand leaving it up to the comments but I kinda If not a few other people would like to hear one perspective rather than a ton of others so maybe you could make a part 2 to some of you what ifs
Queen Coral: Who cares about them they can't inherit the throne. Me: What if they have dragonets with other seawings or dragons from other tribes and some of their children are female would your possible granddaughters count as heirs? ( I know its a dumb question but can granddaughters count as heirs? I just started reading the series again so it's been a while so i am a bit forgetful so sorry)
honestly the main reason i cant stand coral is the fact that she acts like a complete psycho in book 2, and after she 1. learns nothing nor realizes it was wrong, and 2. she receives no consequences for her actions, it wouldve been fine if she learned some kind of lesson but nope, gets off scott free and were all apparently supposed to just like her and think shes good. haha, nope. not gonna happen
There is more then meets the eye to coral, imagine seeing your childrens mangled bodies over and over and over again, where so much children die, im proud for her for not going crazy, and i would kill people for not protecting my children well enough. i would, because now she has an heir, she is not letting go, she could have killed them after what happened with orca, but she isint a dictator, she is a mother who doesent want to let go of her children, also imagine realising that, your husband is dead....
SPOILER I agree that she’s changing for the better because in book 14 when the queen’s counsel was happening it seems as if coral didn’t have auklet wasn’t with her on a harness.
Tortoise is a female Also you are right, Queen Coral literally KILLS people for the sheer fun of it, and StarFlight isn’t right, Coral is terrible and WORSE than BURN herself, honestly, if Gill was still alive, he would’ve changed Coral, and a personal opinion, I think Coral and Burn would get along very well, but then again, Burn kills because she can and Blister kills for a reason. And Coral kills because… she can… OK I hope in Arc 4 (If there is one) Coral suffers a long and very painful death!
I don't think she was an awful MOTHER, but I think she was a awful QUEEN. She was just trying to keep her children safe, she didn't want them to be slaughtered, although, she REALLY should have cared more about her sons.
I totally agree! The fact that she has no care at all for her sons and would kill her subjects without hesitation makes her terrible. She would only care for her sons or any other subject is if they were an animus. I hope so much that Auklet or Anemone is a better queen.
I half disagree with this for a number of reasons but it's all your opinions anyway! As we all know that not everybody isn't perfect and not everybody can be a good parent even if they think their doing it all right. { SPOILERS FOR BOOKS 2, 8 AND 11 } Coral killed tortoise for failing her job? yes, l can see how that brings Coral's reputation down a lot but guess is that she might have done it because she wanted to put fear into her subjects so that they wouldn't think of failing her orders next time (A little bit of Scarlet behaviour but she's dead so...). I disagree that Coral is a bad mother just because of her overprotectiveness. The trauma of loosing her heirs has made Coral super overprotective because she doesn't want her kingdom to suffer the fate of the mud kingdom long ago. She is like this because her husband Gill is dead and so they can't make any more heirs for the kingdom. There has to be another reason why Coral put Anemone in a harness other than watching her every second. She probably does this because Coral doesn't trust anybody for even a second; for example, she would leave Anemone alone with one of her servants but the assassin would kill her before the servant would realise it and it would be to late. Some people would suggest putting Guards inside the Royal Hatchery so that they would catch the assassin before they could kill the heirs; like that when a bird hatches from it's egg, they think that the first person they see is their mother, well what if the dragonet see's the guard/servant and think their it's mother? {Just remember that is could be Coral's thinking and we know that's not true.} I agree about the carelessness of Coral when the wounded soldier's blood could stain her flooring and the fact that coral would no nothing about it. Another reason could be that her mind was to focused on her heir's and rescuing Gill from Scarlet's arena. Just keep in mind that this is a theory! Another reason for her ' poor parenting ' could be from the stress of the war that she keeps bottled up. !!!!!REMEMBER THAT THIS IS MY OPINION!!!!!
@@Dogloverlikesdoge You know customs can change. Like how our culture has changed overtime. A part of me thinks that Coral will severely injured/scar up a dragonet just for the crime for being there when Anklet gets herself scratched
@@Dogloverlikesdoge As terrible as Darkstalker was, he may have been on to something with having kings rules. I'm sure there were many princes that would have been better leaders then their sisters. Qibli would be a good candidate for the Sandwings.
yeah coral isn t really a good dragon or queen i never saw her like she was good and she is very easy to manipulative wich definitlly doesn t make her better
I AGREE WITH YOU IN EVERY WAY QUEEN CORAL IS SELFISH AND DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE QUEEN I RATHER HAVE ANEMONE AS QUEEN AND CORAL DIED AND NEVER HEARD OF AGAIN😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠
I feel like Coral isn't really to blame. The losses of her first daughter, which she blames herself for (she did accidentally kill her after all), the mysterious destruction of dozens of her children's eggs, one of them even being stolen, led to her protectiveness of Anemone. Then, her Husband died, who we can tell she cared about very much. All of that probably destroyed her rationality for a while. And the stress of being in the middle of a war, trying to protect her remaining, and final, eggs, being manipulated by Blister... was too much. She probably mentally blamed the Hatchery guards for the deaths of the eggs, and by extension, Gill's death, because the Egg Assassinations caused the events that led to Gill's capture. The brutal torture and murder of the guards was a pointless action, driven by Coral's sense of helplessness as everyone she cared about was slowly torn away. In Talons of Power, we can see she's much more serene and even seems Happy. The major things that changed between Book 2 and the events of Talons of Power is: The war ended, the Assassin was discovered, and she had three living, healthy daughters. Which leads me to believe those were the greatest reasons for her irrational behavior. At least, this is what I always thought.
I started realizing something was wrong after I read The Lost Heir and started thinking back on it, but I never really sympathized with her in the first place. I just tried to rationalize things until I realized I couldn't anymore
Queen Coral is a dragon that a good amount of the fandom dislikes due to her overprotectiveness, but there is more hiding beneath the surface. Because Coral really shouldn't be forgiven, especially if you look at some of the awful things she has done that tend to get overlooked...
Someone finally addressed this!
Abalone was not the guard Coral killed in the lost Heir. Also Anemone was one at her debut. The Dragon Coral killed was Tortoise!
@@rainstriderstreamflower5645 Abalone died of a boil on his neck
@@rainstriderstreamflower5645 Tortoise had her teeth ripped out for getting told she could eat which was sharks fault may I say
yes i agree
She didn’t even care about her daughters, the only thing she thought about when tsunami was taken is that her property was taken from her.
Coral is definitely my favorite Queen because she is displayed as being an awful person without making her comic book evil like Scarlet. Or just overtly in your face malicious like Blister and Burn. You grow to hate Coral in a really authentic way. One of Tui’s best characters.
that would be true if tui didn't actively try to brush aside her actions in the later books
Teach corals totaaaalllyy a good queen because she thinks she is the better than everyone and barely cares about anyone
Mother of the year award, am I right?
Yeah, she even did threaten to kill Tsunami and NOBODY talks about that! If Tsunami let Auklet's egg die, even by accident, she said she was going to kill her. I understand that she was upset because it was her last egg she had with Gill... but you don't need to threaten one of your only two daughters!
@@Eclipse-mf6hc XD
I think it was like redemption arc or something. I did make me happy to see that she was sorry, but not to see how quickly everyone forgave her.
@@Dogloverlikesdoge she probably only likes turtle because hes an animus
I’m glad that Coral’s trying to improve on her relationships with her children and subjects. Definitely better than some other WoF parents and queens!
I was about to bring up queen wasp but you said the worst queen in PRRYHIA lmao-
And yet the fandom sort of dismisses her behavior :(
I have to admit, I did at first while reading the books.
@@legrandliseurtri7495 Sometimes it takes the eyes of a child to see throguh the lies we become endoctronated into beleiving as adults? idk.

"no, you see, it was actually very tragic because at the end of the day all she was just trying the protect her childr-"
nah you bad get your comeuppance
Right?! I feel like she gets too much of a pass when she LITERALLY THREATENED TSUNAMIS LIFE!!
("If anything happens to that egg, I'll lose two daughters that day"- Queen Coral, The Lost Heir)
How did she threaten her? There was two eggs in the hatchery also the Assassin could kill her
@@kingworldadventures I think it was after the other egg was already destroyed, so she was most likely implying that she would kill Tsunami
And then she started dragging Anemone around on a harness, and she does the same thing with Auklet as well…
She doesn't even really love her daughters, I think, she just wants to control everything they do.
Wait you hate her more than the whirlpool?😮
I read the lost heir recently and there's one part where she talks about how she would kill Shark, her own brother but only didn't because of Moray
Wow, that's awful...
@@Dogloverlikesdoge ya...
And Shark is shown to be quite competent and brave during the skywing attack at the end of the book, so killing him would be really stupid anyway.
Does Queen Coral ever think of all the daughters her sons could have? Like that’s a lot of potential heirs and if one of them won, it negates all the other royalty branches.
Judging by the fact that she didn’t even know Turtle’s name, i’m pretty sure she forgets that her sons even exist
The fact that Coral killed Webs' wife is the thing that makes me hate her. I think you should do a short video on Webs', analysing his betrayal to Coral, and his relationship with the Dragonets and Riptide.
It’s Even worse when you consider webs basically SAVED tsunami from death
In fact the book acknowledges this and yet coral STILL doesn’t care
You put that perfectly!
@@sundew9981 True, actually. The little we saw of Glacier in The Dangerous Gift did show that she was a good mother. Would've liked to see more of her
I despise Coral for being so mean to Webs’ entire family especially Riptide because even though people say he was too boring or bland, I loved his chill personality and at times I could find myself heavily relating to him.
Tsunami could have become Coral if they hadn't met.
...
Tsunami is also abit narcisistic, overprotective, and quick to violence.
...
But becuase they did meet, Tsunami was able to basicly take a merror to her own flaws, recognise them, and grow.
also with how many OTHER sons coral has, just because shes writing to one of them doesnt mean she gives any of her time to the others.
THANK YOU! So many people pity her and say “Oh, well she’s still grieving for Orca and is just trying to protect her future daughters,” but that’s not an excuse for her terrible actions!
When I just read the title, I just immediately agreed. I really hope Auklet or Anemone will be a better queen.
I don’t like coral she is literally crazy
More people need to acknowledge this, I noticed how bad she was when I read about how she treats Anemone and her sons, she's awful.
Coral
A) Did not care about her sons, at all
B) Was as easy to gain favor with as praise (Whirlpool and her niece)
C) Didn't care about Tsunami, was willing to kill her if Auklet died
D) Completely rejected all criticism
E) Never learned anything from her mistakes, ever.
Lagoon: Tortured her brother after what he did to their sister, didn't want her grandnephew marrying Indigo, called Indigo low-born
Pearl: Somewhat of an improvement, but literally kept her bro away from Indigo for fear of becoming their their crazy murder grandpa
Coral: *this entire video*
_When will the SeaWings get a decent queen??_
Okay, imo Pearl was the best out of the three I mentioned, and she had fair reasons for her actions and decisions, but was it really fair to Fathom?
I’m like a year late :’)
But yeah, Coral is literally such a terrible dragon, and queen. And I’ll state the obvious reasons-
-Doesn’t care about her sons, and suddenly did in Turtle’s book with almost no lead up.
I read the title and I was dying laughing- I don’t even need to watch the video to know that, but I watch it because I like your account
@@Dogloverlikesdoge right! Just imagine how many there are though. Itd be a constant family gathering lol
While I do kinda Sympathize with coral, she is terrible, I’m honestly surprised that all her sons seemed to turn out so well from what we’ve seen of them,

@@Dogloverlikesdoge like you’d think are least one would’ve been more violent especially to the lower class
THANK YOU! You have perfectly encapsulated my thoughts on Coral!
My favorite part of the second book is when queen coral says oh my baby😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
(Though, there are some times when she is nice.) gosh this is way too long-
I 100% agree!!
Coral only suspected that she helped in the kidnapping. Suspicions don't justify basically murdering someone.
Surprised the seawings didn't start a rebellion of some sorts
She really shouldn’t get forgiven, she’s really selfish and by one little mistake her guards do she kills them at cold blood
That's actually a brilliant series idea!
@@Dogloverlikesdoge Wait, you actually like it?! (Guess I gotta rework my math, so much for 0.001% 😅)
@@misterymaster5678 XD
Queen Coral: "Yeah I'm a Narcissist"
I’m just gonna point out that one shark gave tortoise food he was being better than coral and shark is a little horrible

@@Dogloverlikesdoge and i think the sea wings think shes insane for that…. Which she probably is
Coral is a fantastic character in the lost heir, but afterwards, I dislike that in all her appearances, everyone act like she's fine person. I'm not against her staying queen or facing zero repercussion for her actions, sometimes bad people simply get away with what they've done, but why are no main characters acknowledging how much she sucks?
She's not as insane or hatable as Scarlet, but I definitely wouldn't want to be anywhere near her.
Yes Queen Coral is bad. Not as bad as Scarlett, but she completely ignored many different things and she was killing for no reason this is solid proof that she is bad
I completely agree
Coral is also very stupid, she had over 30 male dragonets while trying to get an heir. Like, i bet Orca had at least one brother and THEY could have dragonets. Sorry Albatross, looks like one of your decedents undid all your hard work at the massacre.
I thought coral was amazing but this video made me reconsider it.maybe corals not as bad as some other queens but she’s still not a good person
Yeah
I feel sorry for Tsunami, Anemone, Auklet, Turtle and all their other brothers, for having Coral as a mother.
Queen Coral didn’t even seem to care of that tsunami was attacked in the entrance tunnel to the summer palace. The only thing she cared about was her eggs. I understand they were unborn, but she should’ve still cared about tsunami.
I have a what if idea.
What if kinkajou died from her wounds in book 7
I think this would spark a lot of new conflict between the second generation of DoD (Moon, Winter, Turtle, Qibli) and Queen Glory. Maybe this will cause Glory to retaliate on the other Nightwings because a Nightwing killed kinkajou. Or maybe she will take it out on Moon.
I hope you see this idea and take it into consideration. Also love the content bro.
I really thought this was common sense. Like I get scolding or even exiling tortoise after the eggs where broken but killing was a bit to far.
Im surprised no one js bringing up yhat queen coral Literally THREATENED to KILL tsunami if anything happend to akulets egg.
Like she was so happy to see ehr daugter alive then well?
Then threatens to kill her if the egg gets destroyed!? Thats just messed up
What if tsunami was put on a harness
This is actually pretty true, lets hope that if tsunami becomes queen she can change that and give the right attention towards the seawing tribe!
Tsunamis egg has been stolen from queen coral and tsunami was handeld by kestrel, dune and webs and they where abusive parents and queen coral is also also a abusive mother where I realize that
Also are we going to ignore that fact that when Tsunami said she’d protect Auklet’s egg, Coral threatened to kill Tsunami if anything happened to egg
Can’t tell if she were referring to losing Tsunami if the egg died as well, or if she’d lose both eggs as the one in the hatchery was already destroyed.
This is so awesome! I love the way you explain your opinion! And thanks for the spoiler warning!

Have a what if for no reason: What if tsunami was a (by blood) animus or. What if Gill didn't die?
Yeah, I wouldn't really consider Coral a great queen after reading Lost heir but compared to some of the other queens . . . . she's better than a good portion of them. Blister, Blaze and Burn never should have lead anyone. Scarlet is a monster. The Rainwing queens were all morons. Battlewinner . . . uhhhh. I don't know anything about Glacier. Queen Moorhen actually had nightmares about her subjects deaths in the battle so at least that shows she cares about them.

I might! I have done a part two to one of my What If...? videos since it would have been a little lengthy
@@Dogloverlikesdoge I hope you do it but no pressure it your channel
Queen Coral: Who cares about them they can't inherit the throne.
Me: What if they have dragonets with other seawings or dragons from other tribes and some of their children are female would your possible granddaughters count as heirs? ( I know its a dumb question but can granddaughters count as heirs? I just started reading the series again so it's been a while so i am a bit forgetful so sorry)
OK mudwings only get 2 scenes in the first five books what’s about that
TRUE
honestly the main reason i cant stand coral is the fact that she acts like a complete psycho in book 2, and after she 1. learns nothing nor realizes it was wrong, and 2. she receives no consequences for her actions, it wouldve been fine if she learned some kind of lesson but nope, gets off scott free and were all apparently supposed to just like her and think shes good.
haha, nope. not gonna happen
Come on! I thought it was obvious when I read the first book
SPOILER
I agree that she’s changing for the better because in book 14 when the queen’s counsel was happening it seems as if coral didn’t have auklet wasn’t with her on a harness.
WAIT! Maybe there is a reason Queen Coral is abusive to her servants and guards; maybe Tui had a abusive childhood or an abusive friend.
Howdy liver child >:) NOW I CAN SUBSCRIBE mwahahha
Tortoise is a female
Also you are right, Queen Coral literally KILLS people for the sheer fun of it, and StarFlight isn’t right, Coral is terrible and WORSE than BURN herself, honestly, if Gill was still alive, he would’ve changed Coral, and a personal opinion, I think Coral and Burn would get along very well, but then again, Burn kills because she can and Blister kills for a reason.
Yeah, I agree completely!
I half disagree with this for a number of reasons but it's all your opinions anyway! As we all know that not everybody isn't perfect and not everybody can be a good parent even if they think their doing it all right. { SPOILERS FOR BOOKS 2, 8 AND 11 }
Coral killed tortoise for failing her job? yes, l can see how that brings Coral's reputation down a lot but guess is that she might have done it because she wanted to put fear into her subjects so that they wouldn't think of failing her orders next time (A little bit of Scarlet behaviour but she's dead so...).
{Just remember that is could be Coral's thinking and we know that's not true.}
I agree about the carelessness of Coral when the wounded soldier's blood could stain her flooring and the fact that coral would no nothing about it.
She's not awful she just project her daughter
Coral needs to get overthrown by anyone maybe ironically by one of her own sons
That would be so ironic if one of her sons took the throne-
Even though queens rule in WoF, that would be cruel irony
@@Dogloverlikesdoge You know customs can change. Like how our culture has changed overtime. A part of me thinks that Coral will severely injured/scar up a dragonet just for the crime for being there when Anklet gets herself scratched
@@Dogloverlikesdoge As terrible as Darkstalker was, he may have been on to something with having kings rules. I'm sure there were many princes that would have been better leaders then their sisters. Qibli would be a good candidate for the Sandwings.
Yeah, we really do need male characters to rule kingdoms
yeah coral isn t really a good dragon or queen i never saw her like she was good and she is very easy to manipulative wich definitlly doesn t make her better
Can you do What if the dragonets never escaped the mountain
Baby cute
I totally agree with this!
I AGREE WITH YOU IN EVERY WAY QUEEN CORAL IS SELFISH AND DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE QUEEN I RATHER HAVE ANEMONE AS QUEEN AND CORAL DIED AND NEVER HEARD OF AGAIN😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠😡😠
What if Clearsight took Darkstalker to the lost continent?
Ooh, that's a nice one!
@@DogloverlikesdogeOr what if Darkstaler made Clearsight an animus
Oh nice
instead of Coral it should be Karen
It took you this long to realize that
I started realizing something was wrong after I read The Lost Heir and started thinking back on it, but I never really sympathized with her in the first place. I just tried to rationalize things until I realized I couldn't anymore
