Nope. That honour goes to Joseph Kabasele and Congolese musicians acknowledge that fact without dispute. He is the unquestionable father of Congolese music.
@@owenonzee You and who didn't ask for my opinion? Mine is not even an opinion but a statement of fact. If you are not aware of that, then you know nothing. It is a fact that even DRC musicianship accept without debate. It is Joseph Kabasele who took that prize while Franco and the rest were still groping around in the dark.
On dit que le vieux Lutumba n'a jamais voyagé dehor RDC sauf quand il est venu au Kenya en 1986. Ici je lui vois en Utrecht. J'attends une explication! Mais j'aime bien ce part d'introduction par grand maitre!
Hahahaaaa the guy who interrupts Malage's singing towards the end must be a Kenyan. Tht's wht we do in Nrb. We dont care the theme of the song. It can be the saddest dirge but as long as it's danceable we'll shake our waists n shoulders. We dont care wht u ar singing; I think we wa born dancing! Hahahaaaa love frm Nairobi.
Well, that book is rather full of it. There's a lot in that book is true, but also a lot that is partly tru or not at all, you don't know what to believe. A lot in that book is one-source information. Try to get Rumba on the River by Gary Stewart, that book is much more reliable.

@@sandybansiale8629 Malage sung a few words of IDA song but Franco told him to sing the song testament ya Bowule instead which he sung a little longer.
Is it by design that he was the last to be introduced? Franco was very fond of Madilu. As that dancer was being introduced... Franco was moaning... Maadilu, yaa Madilu. This created the rivalry between Josky and Madilu.
Well, here's your explanation: les on dit are full of shit. Franco played (and recorded) in Belgium from the early 1960's, played in Holland several times, even toured the U.S.A. and I posted a gig recorded in Abidjan, I also know he played in Conakry in the 1970's. Lutumba accompanied him on many of these trips, possibly not the U.S., I'm not sure about that one.
