I dunno about best combat but undoubtedly the best customization and even more now with creative spaces - probably the best housing system in any MMO.
Shinobi Striker to this day has the best combat system and character movements.

The world is nice. The combat is fun. I dont mind the grinding. I just need more interesting things that drop. The creative spaces will help with this I'm hoping. As of now I farm a bunch and I have lots of arms refiners and augments. It would be fun to get things like statues or furniture. I have got cosmetic items to drop but its so rare. I like the game so far. The new content looks very interesting. I'm looking forward to it.
PSOS2 NGS honestly helped me understand that an MMO's popularity does not matter as much as the culture it pushed. Much like Warframe and FF14, NGS seems to push a culture of creativity which made me feel quite at home there in contrast from the WoW Community which seems to be fixated on promoting a culture of competition.
I honestly do agree about the overall pros and cons. I hope in the future the developers take time into fixing the weaknesses, my largest hope for the take inspiration from Warframe's philosophy and provide Dungeon crawling content to go with the Open world when planet exploration is introduced in a future chapter.

I really want to love this game. In my opinion, NGS isn’t a BAD game but it certainly wasn’t what I was hoping it would be when it was first announced. It’s definitely getting better with each update, but it feel like it’s finally at the point to where it should have been when released and I still can’t help but feel like the game is hollow… it’s really hard to convince my friends to keep playing this game with me when I myself am struggling to stay with it as a long time pso fan. The combat feels great and the enemy design is sick but it just feels empty and after plaything for a good 30 minutes here and there I start getting…well… bored. The fashion is awesome but I’m just waiting for more things to do in the open world. I want to like it…

heck the 1st major end game content were beating monster looking robots that seemed to have struck by lighting(the one purple thingy in the thumbnail) and thats it! thats the end game content baack then
The game has been more new player friendly over the years you get some pretty good starting weapons for every class and awesome "free" cosmetics just don't expect the game to be hard core since most of the content isn't very hard and engaging it basically comes down to great combat and fashion really
Using starting for lvl 15+ boss would take 8+ mins to kill💀

I think the problem is the Sega team need to do a road map to like 3 major updates in the year and events etc.
PSO2 is the type of game that come with "Slow Update" package depend on SEGA direction at that time.
we will have to see this June/July how much will be change as we're going to move pass Halpha episode and SEGA themselves said it "Ultra update"
I would suggest anyone to try max level and experience the Dark Falz battle first especially the final battle.
you can rest and play other game after that, the game "do not require" us to "GRIND" to progress the game
Btw you're in block/channel for beginners so you won't see veteran players there. There's more to see in changes but yeah its still a
content lackluster still a grindy stuff as always but changes made it a little more interesting specially the story the final chapter 5
System wise there might be stuff that's different from other mmos in pso2ngs, and you'll have to understand most of it to not get stuck into wasting your time or meseta (the in-game currency).
But frankly, I really didn't find leveling grindy at all, you have a ton of ways to get exp fast and the enhanced gear you get for free at the start gives enough bp (as long as you follow the main and side quests - which basically serve as a tutorial too at first) to get you to the second big area and basically the second part of the story.
The only time pso2ngs gets grindy is if you're going for fashion articles, for which you'd need tons of meseta, SG points or S points during events. But then again, you can consider that like being the end game. Just going through the story up to max level is fairly strait forward and not grindy.
Oh yeah, upgrading gear can also be pretty expensive if you're thinking to switch classes and gear when you've just started, so for new players it's better to choose a class and weapon they like and stick to it until they reach the endgame and can spend time to get money for other play styles.
I was very much in love with the base game until they implemented the Graphics Overhaul.
The game might feel Grindy if you think you need to grind on the open world, actually the main way to level up early on are Yellow triggers, and then combat zones and continuously PSE Bursting in them. Also microtransactions are literally there like every live service out there sure, but most players who know how to, are usually able to play the game without spending a single dime to get from early game to endgame If they know how. The whole microtransactions are mostly conveniences and fashion items but other than that, the rest of the game is extremely Free To Play friendly if you want to compare to other games like this.
Grindy literally dont get shit for grinding unless its a quest daily quest

they have changed how they release the chapters theyr gonna be a shorter like chapter 6 will be in 2 parts part 1 of chapter 6 is already out and part 2 comes at a later date theyr doing it that way so that they can release the Chapters and episodes a bit faster and theres creative space to consider which is essentially build your own house how ever you like and most people these days speed run the new genesis story to be up to date on it then go back to original ps02 to farm the weapons because every single weapon in the original PS02 can be transferred to new genesis theyr also making money while farming

I completely disagree about monitization since the game gives isnt pay to win like many other f2p games.
Play Premium to escape reality to play a fun game but play free if you wish to bring the problems of reality into your game .
they did good combat and movement and forgot everything else. and the font with ui sucks so bad
he, just some constructive critique from my part: you established that grinding and fighting monsters is a big part of the game. so, actually showing us some monsters and fights, maybe together with other players, would make a lot of sense then, no? not a big deal, i can go to other video and watch it there. otherwise, thanks for the info. the stuff you did show was kind of cool.
The only thing I remember about this game is the unplayable lag. The laggiest game I ever played and it's not even close.
I really indulged myself completely once, I understood how progression and how my class worked. Also, my experience was during lockdown, so it was very easy to immerse myself in the world of PSO2 Classic. In my opinion, production would be easier without implementing Open World aspects into the game. NGS is empty, the main attraction is Bikinis and Breast Pads (respectfully).
I believe Sega used recycled assets from their recent Sonic game, to make NGS. We really need Sega to revert back to the original formula of Quest Based content and planets/areas. Maybe someday...
I disagree, I think this could be a step in the right direction if sega allocated more resources into the game. The map is outstanding, it just needs better optimization for budget pcs and it needs to be fuller. I don't think we need as many ships as we have right now, it just segregates playerbase. With less ships we'd have fuller experiences and obviously we also need more content, which sega already has ips to make collaborations with we just need more involvement. The potential is there as it is right now.

It was MMORPG for a reason, its always grindy, any game. Ragnarok, Flyff and some old school do those things in a past. Some features may required money but it wasnt that mandatory. Microtransactions only involves quick exps and the cosmetics in gacha form, some are for make a store and sells equipment and room upgrades. As for gacha cosmetics, you can just buy one at store but hell of a expensive. The events are worth to participate as it gives some rare cosmetics and equipment that can also be found on stores of other players in million meseta though. Meseta earning was quite easy if you know your way than just kill monsters blindly left and right. Its like a daily salary on different methods, some are bad and some are great.
It will be really boring if one just easily get it instead of work hard for it. Once you get it that easily, you're next step will be blank. I only hate was the graphics though, I just cant believe it spiked that high that it can only maintain 24-30 fps.
The only advice I could give, be too picky on picking class at first. Dont switch class just because you saw other class were amazing. Because you will have a hard time playing with your account especially when it comes in skill points. Reset Skill tree = REAL money.
This game has the potential to change the MMORPG genre... the combat, the movements, the feeling to explore things and destroy packs of mobs, the boss fights... all of these are amazing. I spent a lot of time on Xbox... but the post game is...

Non existent.
When you finished the main quests, there is absolutely nothing worth doing. They added some super rare weapons and armors with low drop rate. You can farm them, but for what ? The purpose of doing it is non existent, because you already clean the content with enough ease and speed to farm them. Maybe clean malvolent bosses faster ? Yeah. But why ? You can also continue to level up so you are already level max for the next expansion. But why ? You'll just speedrun it and reach faster that moment of nothingness.
I'd recommand to play it through the leveling, and move on once it's finished
Call me old but its not phantasy star without Chad, Zio, big ass worms, planet hopping n titanium equipment.

NGS personally removed everything I liked from the original PSO in addition to removing nearly everything that improved upon it in PSO2.
The gameplay is missing MAGs and perfect attacks, Dark Blasts are gone, the visual style is uninspired and has none of the vibes of the rest of the franchise, they removed the transitioning music, the open world is barren, and all the repeatable content (cocoons) just uses what looks like stock assets thrown together in a stage builder.
Not only that, if player wanna play only pso2, they have to get NGS, create character to get pass NGS tutorials then allowed to enter pso2.
Base pso2 was better, if they reverted back to the way it was the game's playerbase wouldn't have died so much like it did. Open-world garbage and soulles copy paste robotic enemies instead of their iconic creatures like Fang banser, Garongo's and let's not forget mister umbra.
They even ruined pse bursts, no more ONE MORE! and the casino in old pso2 is pretty much worthless now too and the new updated graphics made base pso2 lose its charm and aesthetic. I honestly think they killed the game when they made it open world like it is now. It's so much worse and i will forever miss what pso2 used to be.
I'll miss PSO2 too. Ship 2 is dead.

The only gripe I have with the original PSO2 was it was way too easy. Go play the original early 2000's one PSO BB and that will give you a challenge it's frustrating I want to like PSO2 but man they need to make it harder
