    So I haven't had a chance to play pso2 but was a vet on pso on GameCube playing in the online severs from start to down in 07. I then switched to online private serves years later but still have 4 GameCube memory cards with every single class level 200. Took me 15 years to do but now I'm super excited to play the new pso 2. My download is almost complete and am subbing to youtubers to learn some extra stuff before I step into the actual game. Great video and full of lots of information. Gonna save my butt from the start so thank you.

    All my classes save for waker are at level 60. I play them all. The key is ARMOR. Melee focused armor works for all melee classes. Same for the ranged and technique users. Also you can level up a class using your subclass weapons and armor if you want to level a class up to experiment with later. There is a ton of flexibility in how you play each class.

    Downloaded it on Thursday and spent an hour changing classes and getting a feel for them. What is funny is that i came into this game expecting to play as a long range fighter, heck i spent an hour alone screwing around with the Waker class, which was fun if complex.........only to end up as a Bouncer maining boots and a subclass in Braver maining the Katana.
    This is a first for me, i normally go for long range and support, but i am having a blast with the Aerial combat of the Bouncer, soecially its stagger mechanics, and the Combo heavy Braver with it's parry mechanic.

    "Hunter is the only class with a way to cheat death"
    Fighter Overload: am I a joke to you?

    • @Terashi
      @Terashi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Overload doesn't let you cheat death. It makes you more powerful but punishes you for getting hit while it's active by sending you to 1hp

    • @bradleysmith4210
      @bradleysmith4210 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Terashi True. However because of that you can use it as a way to cheat death if a hit takes you to say 10hp, you can use it to save a heal until one more hit while remaining on the full offensive,a nice saftey net. But yeah big punishment at max hp especially with the 600% increased damage version lol 😆

    • @ACLMSC
      @ACLMSC 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sending you to 1hp is actually a gift. When you're doing your extra damage and get sloppy and take a fatal blow you get another chance. I do think the damage penalty for short cycling overload is too much to where it becomes not worth using. I don't put points into short cycle for overload anymore.

      Base pso2 summoner god health

  • @pdaangsakti21
    @pdaangsakti21 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    additional opinion on classes:
    - hunters are tanky af and still deal good damage. pretty straightforward and the easiest class to play
    - fighters are glass cannons. scrap the idea of defense and go all offensive. heck even their defenses are offenses like parry and counter. fast af
    - rangers are your standard... ranger. well... yeah. but launchers do great deal of damage.
    - gunners are acrobatic. if you like explosive close to mid actions like those movies, this is it. also those acrobatic moves have utilities, not just eye candy
    - forces are mages. they do AoE like no tomorrow and they are the only one with area heal. one of the easiest and most popular classes
    - techers are monks. like the idea of battle mage where you do both melee and magic? also the only class to buff atk and def for field and party
    - bravers are samurais. nuf said. jk. katana is almost as tanky as hunter sword while having way better range, bow has cool utilities. definitely top 3 most popular classes
    - bouncers are.... well boots bouncers are one of the best damage dealer if not the best and they do both physical and element damage. my favorite. soaring blades are confusing.
    - wakers are woke. being the newest class and spiritual successor to summoner it has many fans. is jack of all trades imo with melee, ranged, and counter options. btw you can ride a pet.
    that said try every classes and you'll find your bias like the man in the video (and me and everyone else). the only "best class" is your own favorite class. each one of the classes have mechanics and perks you need to study and is going to be very long to explain so you might want to look up for more infos on that. sneak peek: fighter's twin dagger 4th normal attack has , launches some enemies other than bosses to air, and you can stay airborne afterwards. other classes too have such tricky features that might not be covered in guides so once again, it is highly advisable for you to spend some time trying all the classes.

      What about the subclass, if i wanted to be hunter or braver which sub do you recommend? And between hunter, braver which is your fav or basically little bit better?

    • @pdaangsakti21
      @pdaangsakti21 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@typicalgoodguyclub4games well it's really up to your preference. i can't really recommend less than "try them all including all 5 (you know what, try all 17) of their weapons and see which one you like the most" really since you may like one weapon from a class but really hate one other weapon from the same class like me with bouncer (really dislike how bouncer soaring blades play despite bouncer boots being my toppest numba wan). people love braver but personally braver is not my favorite. my favorite are bouncer boots, fighter twin daggers, force rod, fighter knuckles, hunter wired lance.
      as for sub, if you want more pp then force, if you want more hp then braver. everything else are for leveling purposes or highly situational. fighter gives more damage to downed enemies so maybe in tough quests you want to kill bosses quicker, or you play braver bow and sometimes you want to do bazooka so you sub ranger, etc.

  • @NekoYuki
    @NekoYuki 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    On your point about the braver, I need to make another point. dual-weaponing the katana with a wire makes for a really potent combination. You can use the wire weapon action to yeet yourself towards the enemey (even giant enemies' weak points) and become a flying rat demon from hell. It's actually a lot of fun. Furthermore, if you want to make use of the broad sweeping aoe damage and PP buildup, basic wire attack works just fine with packs of enemies. Then just switch to katana PAs and bring the pain. I've found I really like bouncer braver hybrid. Bring a bit of everything and make them hurt.

    • @icemaiden9534
      @icemaiden9534 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the tatic of hooking into an enemy withthe wires to do damage also holds for fighters especially using daggers.

  • @myk4149
    @myk4149 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Maxed and built all classes. I could definitely say that the katana braver is OP when it comes to soloing content and bosses due to its fast silverleaf storm is. Additionally, all three strings of silverleaf storm can also be cancelled into a parry mid animation. HOWEVER katana braver has its own drawbacks. UNLESS you sub force, you run out of PP very fast during mobbing. During bosses, the only way to sustainably gain back PP while still dishing out optimal dps is to parry as many attacks you receive as possible. Bouncer as a subclass can also work if you want to down bosses much quicker (especially useful during purple triggs). Braver’s parry also has a reasonable window. Hunter’s and force’s parry are much more lenient when it comes to timing. Fighter has the tightest parry window of all classes (excluding double sabers). I’d say the braver is somewhere in between.

    • @pdaangsakti21
      @pdaangsakti21 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      even subbing force isn't enough to gain pp quickly if you're not in pse burst. pp management is harsh on braver katana especially for people who don't know how to.

    Loving the hell out of Braver here, I play a hybrid style and I just can't get enough of it. My second and third choices are Ranger then Force, the two classes I won't even touch are Techter and Fighter, didn't like in base, still don't like in NGS. I find Waker can be fun, but I'd still rather have the traditional Summoner, if you'd have me choose between Summoner and Waker, it's Summoner any day of the week, my mind is set on this. I played Summoner main in base, was hoping for it in NGS and am a little disappointed. Waker is satisfying but it is no substitute. If you had me rank the classes, my list would go as follows.
    1: Braver
    2: Ranger
    3: Force
    4: Waker

  • @Terashi
    @Terashi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Rod Force, Soaring Blade Bouncer, Knuckle Fighter, Rifle Ranger, and Katana Braver. That fifth one is a placeholder weapon until NotLuster comes out.
    That's all five of my characters. By the way, Kero, I can tell you don't play much Force. Some spells, like Gimegid (especially with its mechanic), are rather strong against single targets. In fact, it only has a couple spells that are good for mobbing, though it really only needs Zonde for that. Also, and people seem to forget about this A LOT with Forces to the point where it has become a pet peeve of mine, Force is good for Elemental Downs, making them VERY useful against bosses, especially ones with large health pools like UQ bosses and Gigantix/Ancients. Not to mention that Rod gives you a parry option that's so good that using it actually improves your DPS to the point where you actually WANT to fight in close quarters.
    So when people sell them off as being back row fighters, or worse, only being worthy as a subclass, it's starting to get on my nerves. xD Though I can't speak for Forces that main the Talis since I don't mess with that.

    • @lemmy5721
      @lemmy5721 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hunter & Fighter have +- the same pattern (unless im wrong) :
      Sword & Double Saber are mainly for photon blast (like a ultimate attack) & some skills,
      Partisan & Knuckles are better for counter attacks,
      Wired Lances & Daggers are better for pure dmg.

    • @SilverDragon1991
      @SilverDragon1991 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Phi.- That's kind of an oversimplification and also not really accurate. Here's a baseline idea of what to expect from each weapon.
      Swords: charge Photon Arts for big damage, charge again for bigger damage. Good for single target and AOE, generally does more damage than Wired Lances and Partisans.
      Wired Lances: AOE melee weapon, has great verticality, can cheese out damage with a certain PA if you know how to use it situationally. Great for crowds.
      Partisan: More of a duelist style weapon, great for handling bosses more than crowds with more focused attacks, can compete with Sword damage if used skillfully.
      Twin Daggers: Death by 1000 cuts, can gap close and has verticality with a lot of small, substantial hits with a few big meaty hits. Relies on a lot of dodge actions to avoid damage.
      Knuckles: Punchy time. Has a lot of guard/dodge frames within its attacks and Photon Arts. Excels especially well with its exclusive counters for big meaty damage. Also has a Shoryuken PA for nice damage as well.
      Double Saber: The more AOE option for Fighter, but to a much lesser degree compared to Wired Lances. Really good for consistent damage when sticking to a target, with moments of big damage. Can generate passive 'whirlwind' around the user for ticks of consistent damage.
      Best thing to do is just try each weapon out for yourself to see what sticks.

    • @pdaangsakti21
      @pdaangsakti21 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      each and every weapon has very different feel to it, regardless of their roles and intended functionalities. Large Ebony Rooster above has said the still oversimplified stuff about each weapon and by no means is enough info for such topic. no better way but to try them yourself and learn further. there are tutorial videos for each weapons and they're good for basic understanding; but once again you actually need to try them yourself since watching is different than experiencing.

    • @mickbotcast
      @mickbotcast 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As someone who main Hunter myself,
      I use Sword to clear mob and safe Charge + Counter boss attack, sword is basically strong on its own especially once Hunter learns Overcharge skill, So I combine Partisan with Wired lance. Wired lance is extremely good for closing gab (Use the wired to hook on enemy before launching yourself to kick the target) while Partisan have more versatile attack and can hit hard if pull skill correctly.
      The class itself heavily rely on counter mechanic; you need to be timing the attack for "Revenge Counter" by using skill at the same time as attack land on you which will boost your attack by a large percentage especially partisan. Sword has auto revenge counter once you change your attack to certain level so it a bit easier to use sword, but the gameplay can be slow compares to others.

    I’m a Hunter sub classed Ranger for nastolgia’s sake. In PSO on the GameCube I was a Racastiel, or female Cast Ranger. My Rifle and Legendary Photon Bazooka the Guilty Light could make short work of Bosses on Ultimate difficulty.
    I’m satisfied with my class choice as Hunters have an enormous margin of error and Rangers have status effect resistance and guns for when I want to fight from afar without having to chase down enemies or risk getting hit.
    What made the game even more fun is I’m sharing my account with my older bro who picked a Hunter subclass Force. We’re sort of competing for who can build the higher battle power. But I wish the skill point pay out from cacoons wasn’t devided between characters on the same account. What purpose does that serve besides discouraging building multiple characters?

    Best piece of of advice I've gotten from my alliance; pay attention to your subclass stats.. I wasn't aware when I was a running a rifle ranger and a sword hunter sub class, that the hunter class was holding back my damage in a way. Because since my main class was ranger, my main damage was range, so the sword wasn't getting its max potential damage, I could have run more melee augments, but it would have put my ranger (rifle) at a disadvantage. SO - ideally, youre trying to match damage types... I now run machine guns sub class, because it can also take advantage of the range damage.
    BUT.. one last thing.. the skills carry over.. so I COULD use a ranger/hunter build as a ranged tank.. but because I have attached the gunner, I now get to take advantage of all the aggressive gunner perks instead.
    Anyone who's looking to make a long term build, take this into consideration.
    (Another popular build is the ranger/force sub.) (Even tho force is technique damage, not range damage, people still use it because of the amazing perks that force has.. disclaimer, there are augments that will buff both range and technique damage, the downside is, instead of getting 2% range damage, you get 1.5% range/tech damage.)

    • @studiesinflux1304
      @studiesinflux1304 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting you mention gunner and force as subclass: Both help with PP management. The gunner for additional PP from normal attacks and the Force has faster PP regeneration while not fighting or PP regeneration from the active ability PP conversion.
      Ranger/Gunner is definitely quite strong thanks to the PP regeneration: I love dodge + firing the launcher for a quick and protected way to regenerate PP while mobbing. (That's in addition to the launcher's sticky grenade that fills the PP bar of course.)

    • @sdunned7842
      @sdunned7842 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@studiesinflux1304 yup, and like I said, for beginners, the game doesn't really explain the whole melee/tech/range damage.. its important to consider that when making a class..
      It works perfectly for ranger/gunner.. but I was using hunter sub class not even knowing I was limiting my damage and not taking advantage of the pp recovery that I COULD have had.
      Day two of using this class.. super fun switching between the two classes.

    Just started NGS so admittedly very new, went with the Ranger for my first main class and tiptoed a bit into other classes as Subs to see how they work...and even with such limited experience in the game (though plenty of experience in others) I do need to contest a couple of things:
    1) When you say a class is High Damage, it's amazing how many reviewers/overviewers I see that miss a key aspect of this, which is Ease of Application. The highest damage in the world is useless if you can't land it on a target (or several). So with any of these classes, how easy is it to get in attack range of a target (or more specifically, critical weakpoints on the target which you may need to hit to break their shield)? How easy is it for you to stay in attack range and constantly land hits while avoiding counterattacks? Is it very easy for you to land good damage on entire squadrons of enemies or are you explicitly single-target? If an enemy goes airborne (which happens much more often than I was expecting) and you're a melee class, can you even hit the dumb thing at all?
    2) You said the Ranger has "limited mobility"...have you not tried a Launcher ranger? Are you joking? They can attack+dodge constantly, their Multi-Launch skill lets you rip a bunch of shots into a target while constantly moving i.e. dodging attacks, and I've had surprising success doing extended combat WHILE STAYING IN MIDAIR; done right their standard attack+move and that Multi-Launch skill I mentioned, as long as you don't accidentally trigger the downward smash attack, can keep you going in combat near-indefinitely with almost zero height drop. And since the Ranger has near-unmatched range that plus Lock On lets me repeatedly hit targets hard while doing this almost no matter where I or the target goes.
    With the above two being said I don't think you gave Launcher Rangers the justice they deserve. That charged Divine Strike which makes the VERY long range, wide AoE nuke is a flat out beautiful skill in particular. I've tried at least half the classes so far (including Force, probably the only other good long-range AoE fighter) and I just don't find them comparable. Also, there is definitely a dedicated healer: Tecter, and only as a main. Their heal doesn't work as a sub.
