So underrated! When he stepped into country music from pop he had made huge impact with many country radio hits . I wasn't aware that he hadn't been inducted already. I'm really shocked by that.
@Robert Collett Fully agree. This song is so beautiful, so romantic and sad at the ssme tome. Dan Seals may no longer be with us but his songs will live on forever.
I met John Ford Coley several years ago, and deeply regret that I never got to meet Dan before he died. He had such a fantastic voice, and by all accounts he was kind and humble.
So I just came to my mind today, just walking in my neighborhood in New York City feeling the warm wind. Then I remembered that single line, “there’s a warm wind, blowing the stars around.”
Even though Dan Seals didn't write this song, you would have thought he did given how much emotion he sings it with. Truly heartfelt. RIP, Dan Seals. You were one of the best.
You are so right!... if you ever liked T. Graham Brown give his album "BARE BONES" a listen.. he did this to many of his hits. It's a somewhat newer album, relatively speaking, it's all acoustic and 3 part harmony.. it blew me away too!
I'm not trying to be a "know it all", but Dan Seals (and a lot of others - musicians, my friends, etc.) sing the lyrics "there's a warm wind blowing the stars around" but the actual lyrics is "there's a warm wind blowing , the stars are out." I used to think it was "warm wind blowing the stars around " myself. Anyway - it doesn't matter. Just thought I'd point that out.
Good ears. They might be alternating....same syllable count. Anyway, here in Canada it's a typical November day with the cold wind blowing the clouds around. Cheers!
Probably one of the most iconic ballads in the 70 's. It is a gem. I heard this probably when I had just turned 8 years old. Even 50 years later I had this song in mind today. A feel good song
I was in Nashville this past Thanksgiving and upstairs at Tootsie's was a young up and coming want to be musician. At one of his breaks he came out for tips and to get requests. I said anything Dan seals except Bop. This supposed musician looked at me with a jackass grin and said "who the heck is Dan Seals" I said you need to study your genre because he is the best singer and songwriter to ever grace this planet.
My buddy and I met Dan Seals in the early 80's at 'The Backdoor' at an Open Mic night at San Diego State University. We played a couple songs, and he came up and introduced himself as "New England Dan". He was very nice to us. Then he proceeded to play several of his hits, left handed fingerstyle on a standard 12 string. Blew us all away. Loved that guy.
He and John Ford Coley did an amazing job with the original version of this song in the mid-70s; I remember growing up a fan of England Dan (and John Ford Coley), and also as a fan of Dan Seals and then realizing Danny was the same person. He always did such an amazing job with this and his other classics. I can't believe it's been 11 years -- I miss his voice so, so much.
I was literally in pre-school when this tune came out, and I loved it then. This acoustic version comes off as genuine and heartfelt. Thanks for a great song.
Dan is one of the first artists I found that I loved when exploring music as a teen. Years later, I saw him perform at a place called Sam's chapel in a shit hole town called Salina KS. He's the GOAT, no one else has come close to being a reasonable substitute to his style.
Dan Seals did a wonderful job with this song, he's got a gifted talent and a wonderful voice, I can't get over this song with him singing it, I'm glad he did. I'm sad he passed away, he would have kept on singing, no matter what. :)
I always listen to both versions of this song. I love both versions but there's something about this one that just tugs at my heart strings. If only......*sigh*. Life goes on, people move on, but if only I could see him tonight.
I love this song by both of them but Dan is blowing me away with this version. RIP Dan, both you and your brother who just recently left us were both great singers and left a wonderful legacy.
I think this is more beautiful and he had wiser delivery, with all respect to the original. Maybe it's the childhood comforting nostalgia talking for me but well yeah
Not saying the people in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame don't deserve it? But they haven't been about inducting people based off their dues to the industry for some years now! And it's pathetic and disrespectful if you ask me! It's all about ratings, they should be ashamed of their selves
This was the first CD I ever actually listened to, we had just got a stereo with a CD player. I want to say 1994-1995. Back when my mom and I lived in alberta my mom worked at a hotel and dan seals stayed there, and he gave my mom this CD. She still has it. It brings tears to me when I hear it
2020 This song seems to just melt cares away Im sorry Dan Seals is no longer with us Can you just imagine how much more rich his voice would have been Jenny 💖💕😎
😢😢😢😢. I can't help but tears, everytime that i saw, heard this song. it makes life uplift & remove something inside my heart. That it makes me at ease.. What a wonderful song from a very inspiring music man. Rest in peace Mr. Dan Seals.
You know, Being born in the early 70s I had all kind of music from Country to R&B to POP to Soft rock..etc.. These Groups were in their most touching to me. I always look back at videos of these groups and England Dan and John Ford Coley have always had their special place in my heart when I take all the 70's music in one glorious musical pile.. Most groups do break up and I believe that his desire to pursue country music was a matter of personal creativity. And listening to this country version of his former hit was just as touching as the original. I love them both. I miss the sounds of the 70's.. Even disco *blushes* RIP (February 8, 1948 - March 25, 2009)
I imagine this song playing at the end of a documentary made for the wonderful duo England Dan and John Ford Coley. John Ford Coley kneeling by his grave in Tennessee resting that hat upon his grave before slowly fading into darkness.
still loving this song (march 8, 2019) eventhough i was born in 1985. 😊 'Stay at home and watch tv --- Netflix or Iflix 😍 Thank you for the music . RIP Dan Seals.
For some unknown reason, this song takes me to a specific street back in my college days. I see the tall trees along the street, the gentle night breeze is swaying the branches revealing the starry sky. The street lights confirm that the street is empty. So smooth, quite nostalgic

dan Seals was my favorite singer! I fell in love with his voice when heard "Love is the answer".I cried when I heard he passed away!😢😢😢
Dan Seals deserves to be in the country music Hall Of Fame!

He lived 2 doors down from me in the 70s when I was a kid. His son and I used to play together.
Who is this ? Dan's son asking.

Not many musicians can absolutely blow you away with a creative cover of one of their own songs.
That is a great comment and I couldn't agree more. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment
Have you listened to Mason William's "Classical Gas"? The arrangement in 1968 had horns, then in 1970 he made an acoustic version. Both are great!
Cheers!

As good as Clapton's acoustic version of Layla from his Unplugged album.
"There's a warm wind blowing the stars around" ...lyrical magic.

Of course I love the original best. But that voice. It gives me chills. This has always been one of my favorite songs. It really touches the heart.
@@marycoffey4961So true! What a beautiful song. And what wonderful memories it brings back!
Dan Seals had an even more succesful career when he went back to his country roots.
Wow, I love this slower "half cover" of this 70s classic. RIP Dan :(
Ah England Dan. Left us way way to soon rip
Dan Seals, Steve Wariner, Earl Thomas Conley. My favourites 💪🏼
Such a nice, a relatable song. This is how people communicate in real life.

He seems like he was such a nice guy.
Beautiful version. I’ll always love the original, but this intimate acoustic approach is perfect by Dan.
He also recorded the original version together with John Ford Coley.

I was literally in pre-school when this tune came out, and I loved it then. This acoustic version comes off as genuine and heartfelt. Thanks for a great song.
