This was my favorite song when I was 3. When it would come on the car radio, my mom would pull over and dance with me on the side of the road. I'll always cherish those memories ❤️.
Dan Seals...need I say more? What a great singer, songwriter, and person. Dan, you are truly loved and missed by us all. Thank you for gracing the world with your kindness and beautiful see spirit! You will never be forgotten!!!❤
My childhood favorite song! I listened to it on a 45 record back in 1983 and still love listening to it today! RIP Dan Seals thank you for this great song!
Our band did this song in the 80s. Crowd favorite. The piano player sang lead, while the guitarist and I (bass) did the female voices in falsetto. Great times, great music...RIP Dan Seals.
The very moment my boyfriend sang me this song,, he had my heart. I was driving to Aransas Pass, it was dark, I was tired and he just started Singing this song! At first I laughed, completely in shock! I didn’t even know he could sing and when looked at me and sang “Bop” I started laughing even harder! Then something strange happened, I guess I was so touched by him singing to me that tears started rolling down my cheeks as I smiled and looked in to his eyes. No one has ever done something like that for me and not In a million yrs would have have guessed that this big man with quite a large beard had that in him! That’s when I fell in love with him, but in actuality I fall in love with him all over again for all the many things , ways, that he shows me he loves me❤️. I will never stop loving him whether we stay together or not. After 20 years I though love had passed me by... I adore him...always
@@mike5556 Don't you know that everything today has to do with race? It's ridiculous!! And usually the one's that mention "race," are the racist ones. :(
Loved them both. Paul Davis ('65 Love Affair, I Go Crazy) and England Dan & John Ford Coley (I'd Really Love to See You Tonight, Nights are Forever Without You) were absolute musical treasures.
Another song that I can't believe I forgot. I LOVED this song! It made me happy when it came on everytime! It's still fantastic. Country music was kicking ash back then- making that crossover without going inauthentic (like now).
Folks, we have to prepared to go; so important to love God and serve Him. We just do not. Know when it’s our time. Such a wonderful person and entertainer...you’ll be missed forever Dan.🙏
Every Saturday afternoon I would listen to American Country Countdown while doing the chores on the ranch with my Dad back in the 80's. This song got way up on the charts.
One day, my family woke up early to see the sun rise one the east coast and see the sun set on the west coast. We had a few cassettes play. One of them had Bop, Meet Me in Montana, Yellow Car (I think that was the song) and several others. It was a great day. RIP, thanks for the music. God bless y'all!
I loved this song... l remember it very well... when my wife were dating and l would go and pick her up in my 60 Chevy and that would be playing on the old am radio!!! Great times!!! I wished l could turn it back now... she is long gone and so is the Chevy but l smile whenever l hear it!!! 🙂
Still be-bopping the night away in 2019'. I remember being 6 years old hearing this song and absolutely loving the beat. Yet clearly I have lost track of the good old days cuz I didn't even know Dan had passed away so may he rest in peace I give him thanks for such a rememberable classic. Tho shockingly to probably most this is the very first time I have ever watched this video. I knew the song Because I listen to it over the radio I came from a Time unless you were upper-class you did not have cable and had no access to music videos well that is unless you had a friend who had cable LOL.
Just seein’ the video for the first time myself today. I didn’t get access to music videos until I was 8 years old but even then, no country vids. This was definitely the jam when I was about 4. What a wholesome video ☺️
This was the song from my childhood that my grandfather got me to listen to and later taught me how to dance to this song. Years later I found this song here and I just recently got my 17 year old to like this song, he isn't a dancer much but I seen him doing a few that he picked up from me cause I at least play this song every week since I noticed, but I'm not telling him so that he would continue to listen and learn the steps.
Damn...such a fun song! And what a timeless melody. Brilliant vocals, great melodies, slick playing and arrangements, plus a solid production all add up to a classic that deserved its popularity.
When this first came out. Gosh. Me and my sister were kids. We would play beetle bop slug a bug. Lol 😂. I still remember this like yesterday. But it was a long time ago. 1980’s. This song was very popular then. A lot of his songs were known back then. I love. Everything that glitters is not gold. Meet me in Montana is another great one also. You still move me is a good one too.
This song was stuck in my head from when I was like 3, and I never knew the name. The radio played it constantly when I would ride places with my grandma. ❤
Spring '65. I was at the end of my teens. The love of my life, Carol was about a year older. By the Fall of '65 we were one, and have been ever since. We DID love to dance, and still do. We DID "Bop" every chance we got. 57 years later we still hold on like there is no tomorrow. My love, my life. Carol
This song reminds me of my mother in law who resides in heaven. When I hear it, I think of her and cry. She loved it so much. Miss you sunshine 🌞 💛 😘. See you one day and we will dance to it again. Love you and miss you so much.
I was giving birth to three children around this time 1986 but didn't hear it until 1992 , most bands and singers here in the UK 🇬🇧 did this one! But nothing like Dan seals! A song born out of Time!! Teresa The Cotswolds UK 🇬🇧
I remember working night shifts at a power plant and whenever this song came on the radio, someone would use the paging system to broadcast it throughout the whole plant. I never found out who did it, neither did management, but it brightened up the shift!
Damn this reminds me of my time in the Army in California. Middle of nowhere. No rock or top 40 stations, but i heard this a lot. Good music, good times!
I was 10 years old when i first heard this in 1986. My older brother raised me and asked what song I liked and this happened to start playing and i was dancing seated of course & I said this one! in his 69 chevy impala. Good times!
35 too! I miss this era of country/soft rock crossover. Restless Heart is another that comes to mind. Heard this on a local country station my 70 y.o. Dad had going yesterday & brought back my childhood. Getting older is bittersweet.
I agree on wishing music was still like this and my mom loved this and myself as well and so many more of his songs . Just takes me back ....good good good ....
I remember hearing this song playing in the barn at our next door neighbor's place. Their ranch was across a huge pasture from our ranch, but you could hear the songs playing on KILT FM (Houston area.) What memories!!
I was born in 1996 and thanks to my dad I’m 24 and listening to this in 2020.. he’s been gone for 5 years in July. But his killer taste in music lives on 🥰
George Bloom directed the song's music video. It shows an older couple preparing to go to the armory, as well as interacting with flashbacks 30 years earlier. The flashbacks featured a 1955 Ford Thunderbird, which transforms into the 1985 Ford Thunderbird 30 years later. Towards the end of the video, the couple danced in the armory, as well as interacting with Seals performing on stage. The video did not appear on Seals' 1991 video compilation "A Portrait"; because "They Rage On" was also included, as well as "God Must Be a Cowboy", "Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold)", and "Big Wheels in the Moonlight".
Dan Seals' "Bop" managed to make it to number 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Song chart, number 1 on the Canada Country Tracks chart, number 10 on the U.S. Adult Contemporary chart and number 6 on Canada's Adult Contemporary chart. In addition to all of that, "Bop" was certified "Gold" by Music Canada for selling 50,000 units in Canada.
Great to hear this one again for the first time in probably 30 years. Was always a favorite. Professor of Rock mentioned it in a video talking about Seals and Crofts, and I had no idea this was England Dan (Jim Seals' brother, of the 70's duo England Dan and John Ford Coley) who sang it.
