    Honest men with integrity sharing their passion of skating. Thank you for sharing yourselves with us..you all are solid. Wishing Tony the best recovery, Sam...I can't wait to see the doc, and Jason, you are kind of friend everyone should have.

    No one has more tenacity than Tony Hawk. Love the depth of emotion and pure commitment to his craft that really shined through esp this and the episode they did following the injury.
    Jason is so supportive and loyal and what a babe. Love this friendship and how he is fiercely protective of Tony. When he was talking about the doc being “dark”, I gathered from it that he was being protective of Tony’s image and legacy and then the filmmaker explained more about his intention and some of the directorial decisions he made (like having everyone come away with their own thoughts instead of feeding it to them)
    ❤️ Love to Ellis mate and Birdman, you’ll be back on that board in no time. Excellent diy w the stilettos and the grip tape too btw. Wonderful episode. Thank you for being so transparent and candid with us and thank you for your time and effort with the pod.

      Gotta give props to Sam Jones too for funding this film and being so committed to getting this made and staying true to the reality, Tony’s life/name and to representing skateboarding authentically, regardless of the challenges and roadblocks he came up against. Can’t wait to see it!

    The doc hits hard to every aging skateboarder. Skateboarding changed us in ways we don't understand or can even communicate to a non-skateboarder. We don't see our "self-destructive" activities as self-destructive. We see them as part of life. Part of what makes us who we are. As a 48 year old guy, I see myself getting hurt more, slowing down, taking longer to heal, society telling us to slow down. But why? "Until the wheels fall off" is a perfect phrase for how we feel.

    Watched the doc last night and LOVED IT!
    Starting to skate in the early 90's left me in a love/hate relationship with Tony and vert skating in general. I'm glad to have transcended that and achieve the idea that skating is skating; stoke is stoke. The Tony Hawk Foundation helped build a park in my home town. No words can express the gratitude I have for the impact you have had on skating, Tony. Thank you for being you.

      That's the thing that Stacey has backwards. This man has lived a full life, and is fully (or mostly) capable of making conscious decisions. Whereas 11 and 12 year old kids aren't fully developed. Sure you heal faster, but a TBI can end the trajectory or a child's life, no chance of career or family... shouldn't he be concerned about all the younger ones if you're going to be concerned about skaters? Tony's not out there concussing himself daily, and he understands the risks. Any rate, love Stacey, love Tony, way to go on the doc. It had me fist pumping, laughing and tearing up. So, total win.

  • @demetriusantuna3870
    @demetriusantuna3870 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Great interview, only thing Sam got wrong was when he tried to compare (or rather separate) the fear of public speaking with the fear of dropping in. They are one in the same, dropping in has more physical implications, but physical implications aren't necessarily scarier than mental ones. Anxiety is real, and sometimes debilitating anxiety isn't even triggered by any real danger.

    Stacy obviously cares about Tony, but he had given up skating at anything like a high level before he was even 30. I never had a skate career, but skating steady for almost 40 years (at a high level for me), that continuity informs our perception of possible, normal and acceptable risk in a way that people who haven't put in that time can't be expected to understand.

    @TonyHawk. What were the specs of the Del Mar key hole? 9’ radius plus 6” of vert. I had a friend that built a ramp to these specs to mirror the key hole. How did Lester and Christian do 8’ plus airs with only 6” of vert? Who knows all of the details of the key hole dimensions. Grant? Will some one ever re build this bowl? I guess the design is not all that appealing for the new parks. Grant would be a great guest for hawk v wolf

    Your body talk is cool but my opinion at 22 I got In a bad car accident and hit by a train and lived and none of it was my fault.. left arm got ripped off they put it back on for me though…. It work 50% but hurts everyday man and I can still walk and do normal things kinda hurts everyday but just put that pain deep down and make it move is always been my attitude I am not 42 years old now but keep moving guys and don’t quit thanks for the podcast also it only hurts for a bit and then u will forget it trust me.

      Attitude is so much of it. I’m so sorry to hear that you went through this and are still living with the ramifications, esp where it wasn’t your error. That would make me so angry and bitter and would take me a long time to let that go. Life is so precious. Keep feathering it brother 🤍

    From day one Tony has skated for himself. Bottom line Most of us love and respect what he has done, does, and will do. What else can I type Birdman is Hardcore. On the Board or Off skateboarding needs Him. The Ups the Downs the Success the Failures the Willingness to Dedicate Life to a Toy. Play Forever Legends. I love stepping on my board in 2022 and going back to 1984 skating barefoot as a 7 year old. Thanks Tony and Jason and the Rest of the Team that brings Us Hawk vs Wolf.
