I freaking love Lance Mountain. He was the guy that made me feel it was ok to be a goof ball, have fun and just rip at the same time. This ep was so great, I could sit and listen to his stories for hours. Such a cool dude.

I'm so glad you guys are doing this. I started skating in 1987 at 9 years old. You guys have been my heroes for basically my whole life. I've gotten to watch all of you grow up, while I was growing up, all the while you were putting your stamp on sports, culture, and what in means to go outside and play with your friends.

i still have this broken deck that lance wrote some crazy funny poem on when i asked him if he autograph it for me. it was early 90s at sk8 park in huston all metal ramps an the hurrican was wut called vert. it was supper fast..anyway point is that broken poem autographed deck still hangs on my wall to this day . thank you lance for doing that for me it wasgreat memory you gave me . tony and jason i love this show its helped me ALOT just wanted say this thing called sk8ing threw out y life has always helped me find away threw hard shit an still does thank yal all you much love and respect thank u

Shout out to Lance Mountain. I started skating for real in 1989, and the Bones Brigade videos were massive. Lance being silly and just having a fun always translated for me and my friends. A joy to watch and big inspiration. Love you, buddy.
Ive watched this ep a dozen times over. Love it more each time. Lance is such a unique individual. Thankful for his time here and on the nine club. Powerful stories.

I love the episodes when you guys get into the 80’s and 90’s era of skateboarding. I remember meeting the bones brigade when they toured Australia in the late 80’s,lance bailed a mctwist (on one of the most terrible ramps ever built) and his board split some kids head open. He ran over to the kid picked him up and wrapped the kids head with his t shirt. I hope you have him back on as I could listen to him tell stories for days. Definitely one of the kings of skateboarding.

Lance Mountain is the reason I skateboard. The clip of him surfing the grass still makes me wanna go skate. My dad educated us on the Bones Brigade before I can remember not knowing about them. RIP My Pops. He’d be just as stoked as I am to hear this conversation.
Skateboarding in the 80’s is hilariously similar to Midwest skateboarding now.

I have a few hilarious Lance mountain stories. One in particular in Queens New York during a Maloof money cup contest. We get into that later. But right now, Lance mountain everything that skateboarding is supposed to be. There’s nothing else to say. That’s the bottom line. It could be argued, but it can’t be questioned. Thank you Lance, thank you for bringing us everything that skateboarding has to offer. You are an icon. You are of the epic. And you are appreciated. And even if they said they don’t, we all love you.#OfTheEpic

This is all fascinating. I would skate days before a NSA contests with the incoming pros and they all seemed like friends. They all cheered each other's progression. The hotel parties weren't all restricted to teams. This rang true when the pros would leave town: at the ditches and ramps everyone was accepted and everyone was cheered on for making tricks, or doing something new. I never had any sense of hard-edged competitiveness or disrespect between competitors when NSA came to town. I'm from Houston, and I refer to Kahuna and the SUAS series.

Lance was my favorite skateboarder. I saw Lance at a contest in Houston Tx. Me and a friend was standing on the bleachers. I started hearing this really loud clapping noise. So I look to see who was doing it and there he was Lance Mountain. I told my friend look there he is. My friend told me to go say hi to him and I was like no way, I probably couldn’t even talk to him face to face. I could talk to him now but it would be still so surreal.

Omg, Lance is every bit as awesome as quotes of other skaters in Thrasher detailed. I was very much an admirer of the entire Bones Brigade, and Lance was the biggest personality as reported in the literature.

Lance is a legend. I remember seeing him at a Pro Contest in Tempe Az, during late 80's. I was surprised at Lance not being a good street skater. I think some of riders had hard time adjusting to Launch ramps etc.

Lance Mountain was my very first signature deck, I had no idea who or what he was about at the time, but i loved the shape, at the time everything was a bomb board.
Oh yeah! Lance has always been my favourite skater. When I first saw him in the Search for Animal Chin in 87 or 88 I just loved him from then.
He came across as just a good down to earth guy who didn't take himself and his skating seriously and was just having fun.
Finally got to actually see him live in 2008 in Wellington NZ at Bowalrama and he ripped.
Anything with Lance is a must listen. Bless him.

Jason got it right about Lance's influence.
I struggled with my friends to find anything decent to skate throughout the early eighties in northern England. However dumb the "Junk Skating" segment on Ban This was...it kinda gave us a new breath of life.
As amazing as Rodney or Tony were in their field, people like Lance and Mike Vallely were in our field.
Lance may be my favorite guest they have had, it’s like listening to warriors telling stories about past battles, their dynamic has been the best! Like and describe!
Really cool to see how emotional some people get when thinking about skating memories.
