I have a question, hoping the community can offer some advice please? 😊 I am planning to buy the action 4 (because it's in my budget and the 5 isn't). I want to film *silent vlogs* where I am capturing the scenes and sounds around me, rather than my own voice. I will not be facing the camera at any point. If I buy a mini mic to pair with the action 4, will it capture the sounds of every day life (while travelling) well? Or should I find a different mic for this purpose? And if so, can you recommend a budget friendly option? Thanks in advance! 😃
Yeah, you could get the Mic Mini, get a SmallRig cage for the Action 4 and put the Mic Mini in the cold shoe mount so that you’re just capturing the sounds, but set the audio channel in the camera to stereo rather than mono.
Looks and sounds awesome, Thanks Tamara, I already have a set of Mic 2's but I'll also buy a single Mic Mini just to use as a lav replacement for vlogging
Would you recommend the DJI Mic Mini or DJI Microphone 2 for TH-cam talking head videos ? I just got the Rode PodMic with the Zoom F3. I was asking in terms of simplicity of filming.
I enjoyed your video and purchased the Mic Mini specifically based upon your improved noise cancellation comments! Would you mind explicitly demonstrating how to turn noise cancellation on with the Mic Mini in your hand. What does each color means? I am able to get a green flashing light. Does that mean the mic is linked with noise cancellation on? I have a Pocket 3 and an Action Pro 5. I also have a DJI Mic 1&2 and a Hollyland Lark M2. I have found the magnetic, lanyard, pendant from the M2 works with the Mic Mini also! Finally, I’m just a camera hobbyist and use them to make home videos for myself & my 21 year-old daughter!🙏🏾
Sure, when you press the power button that enables noise reduction then you should see a yellow light on the opposite side. Then press it again to turn it off.
let’s say I have a pocket 3 with the creator combo which includes the mic 2 but lets say i plan to get 1 mic mini isit possible to connect both the mic mini and mic 2 to the osmo pocket 3 at the same time
@TamaraGabrielUK oh I see. Alot of people been asking the same question too as everyone was confused but I hope they read your response here so at least you cleared it up thanks for letting us know 😊
I really want a small mic with internal recording and the ability to find it with either find my or by playing a tone from it. I assume nothing like this exists currently.
My mic 2 doesnt affect the audio quality in the same way, all it does it remove the noise. I wonder if its because its newer (four months old), or a different firmware?
Does this work with galaxy s24 ultra? I heard dji mic 2 has some compatibility issues with galaxy s24 ultra. I think noise canceling was not working or something. Wondering dji mini has the same issue.
I got the dji mic to connect to my dji action 4 and sometimes it wouldn't connect. Luckly I was able to return in but im just abit scared of getting one now
Great video. Just a question, to use with the Action 4, which one do you recommend between the mic 2 only transmitter and the mic mini receiver + transmitter? They are almost the same price. I would use mostly for some ambient sound for the video tour on my channel. Thanks 😊
If you only want one mic either will work with the Action 4 via Bluetooth connection, so you don’t need a receiver unless you want it for other cameras as well.
Hi Tam! Great review. Like one of the other comments, this would be a hit among motovloggers! This is giving me so many ideas that I could try out. Quick question. Does the mic mini have the "vibration" feature of the Mic2. My Mic2 vibrates when I start recording on my OA4, allowing me to know for sure when I'm motovlogging. Does the mini do the same?
Great video. Could you test to see if the Mic Mini RX accepts the Mic 2.? Or If the Pocket 3 and accepts the Mic 2 and Mic Mini TXs simultaneously ? Remarkably I have not seen this confirmed in any review.
Yes, you can use a Mic Mini and a Mic 2 at the same time with the Pocket 3 or Action 5 when connecting via Bluetooth. As for the RX, they’re not currently cross compatible.
RODE’s Wireless Micro will be here Saturday, it’s the first such mic that you don’t have to set any audio levels or anything else. Clip it (or magnet) on and talk.
@@marek8902 I know. But it's such a tiny reciever. Is it still too big to work on the Osmo? I'm not familiar with the USB C connection ports on Osmo cameras.
The Mic Mini doesn’t need 32bit float recording as they have increased the rage from 250m on the Mic 2 to 400m on the Mic Mini meaning there’s less chance of it cutting out which you forgot to mention also the Mic Mini has Automatic Limiting to prevent clipping which the Mic 2 doesn’t have therefore it should perform better, also the magnetic is stronger on the Mic Mini also the stand alone Mic Mini (black or white) is only £49
Only time and convenience, I'd say. Mostly good for people who might be editing clips on their phone and not wanting to faff with sorting the audio in post. Or anyone who's just trying to get an edit out as quickly as possible.
lol I just ordered two of the II received Friday . Ummm I still want this tho. Love the vids. I don’t even know how to use them yet my son and I did more laughing than recording over the weekend
As someone who has a mic 2 that comes with the Osmo Pocket 3, is it possible to use both the mic 2 and Mic mini together with the osmo pocket 3 at the same time?
Fantastic review Tamara. I've watched a lot of your DJI videos recently as your videos are always shot beautifully, but also have great information. Hope your channel continues to grow quickly as I know you're putting a lot of work into each video. Subscribed 👍 I've had the Rode Wireless Go II since it launched...but being honest, they've gathered dust since a few months after launch. I switched back to a shotgun mic at times as it was less messing about with settings. So it's time to sell the Rode mics as they've not been used in years. I agree with DJI about the appeal of a mic that requires less setup. I hate having to spend 15-20 minutes checking gain and other settings to record a five minute clip. My wife and I have an amazing little two year old boy so I don't have as much time as I used to. So I like solutions that are quick and easy to use. Of course, I still want good audio too. I've got the osmo pocket 3 and DJI Mic 2 combo. I've had the DJI Mic Mini in my basket for a few days, but keep switching between the mic and receiver combo and the dual mic and receiver with charging base package. The little charging dock on the cheaper package looks really good. I do also like the idea of not having to re-pair mics constantly....hence the appeal of the dual mic package. First world problems 😂 Thanks. Kevin
Thanks for subscribing! ☺️ I can completely relate about needed hassle-free gear around children 😆 Whatever makes my life easier when I’m with my little ones is a winner for me 🙌🏾
For everyone saying Tamara Gabriel made a mistake and released this early, I disagree. DM productions (another YT channel) did the same thing with the DJI Mini 4 Pro (I think it was that model), released it about a week early. Seems like DJI will randomly choose 1 or 2 channels to release early to boost day 1 sales. Remember, DJI REQUIRES ALL CREATORS that work with them to send in their videos for review prior to release. So since they approved it to be released without a price mentioned, I would say it was released early on purpose.
@@51Drones I mean you don't know that for a fact, just like I don't, However since there is no specific link to DJI and only a random search link to Amazon, and also no price is listed (and she always tells us prices), I would say my theory is very plausible.

wow this is the very first dji mic mini feature, just wondering whats the price for the mic mini?, thank you
Great video.
Could you test to see if the Mic Mini RX accepts the Mic 2.?
Or
If the Pocket 3 and accepts the Mic 2 and Mic Mini TXs simultaneously ?
Remarkably I have not seen this confirmed in any review.
Yes, you can use a Mic Mini and a Mic 2 at the same time with the Pocket 3 or Action 5 when connecting via Bluetooth.
As for the RX, they’re not currently cross compatible.
Imformative as Always Thanks
Hi Tamara! I saw that the Dji Mic Mini has 2 modes on noise reduction ( Basic & Strong ). Maybe you could do a test on that. Thanks a lot
Love it! Thanks for doing this one - how much is it? Also does the dji mic mini do 32 bit float?
WOWEE interesting I thought it was to rival the New Rode mic but no hahah good fun thanks for sharing
Only place I've seen these mics talked about!
Does the mic mini wrk with DJI Pocket 2?
Only with the receiver.
Thank you
Can you connect the mini and mic 2 to action 5 at same time or does it have to be 2 minis or 2 mic 2s?
I can use one of each at the same time.
@TamaraGabrielUK awesomeness! thank you so much. Just ordered 1.
You’re welcome ☺️
can we connect in Insta Ace Pro camera ?
Yes, via usb-c.
RODE’s Wireless Micro will be here Saturday, it’s the first such mic that you don’t have to set any audio levels or anything else. Clip it (or magnet) on and talk.
A new release?
Yes but you can’t pair it with osmo cameras without receiver
@@marek8902 I know. But it's such a tiny reciever. Is it still too big to work on the Osmo? I'm not familiar with the USB C connection ports on Osmo cameras.
@ it will work. But osmo action will not be waterproof and probably you won’t be able to put it in a cage wille recover is connected to it
If you have a pocket 3, and a mic 2, could you buy a mic mini and use both at the same time on the pocket 3?
Yes, they'll both connect at the same time.
Thanks a lot for the reply! Great content as always. @@TamaraGabrielUK
Subscribed love your honesty vlogs
Thanks ☺️
The Mic Mini doesn’t need 32bit float recording as they have increased the rage from 250m on the Mic 2 to 400m on the Mic Mini meaning there’s less chance of it cutting out which you forgot to mention also the Mic Mini has Automatic Limiting to prevent clipping which the Mic 2 doesn’t have therefore it should perform better, also the magnetic is stronger on the Mic Mini also the stand alone Mic Mini (black or white) is only £49
Is there an advantage to using the built in noise reduction instead of doing it in post?
Only time and convenience, I'd say. Mostly good for people who might be editing clips on their phone and not wanting to faff with sorting the audio in post. Or anyone who's just trying to get an edit out as quickly as possible.
@ thanks for the quick response! Great videos as always
does it work with action 3 using the receiver?
Yes.
@TamaraGabrielUK awesome! thanks
Is it posible to use one mic2 for channel one and one mic mini for channel two for osmo action 5 pro at the same time. Thanks…
Yes.
Finally, Auto-Gain on the DJI wireless system! I just ordered mine! I'm sending back my Rode Wireless Micro and selling my Rode Wireless Pro kit!
lol I just ordered two of the II received Friday . Ummm I still want this tho. Love the vids. I don’t even know how to use them yet my son and I did more laughing than recording over the weekend
Wow, the Mini's noise reduction sounds great. Actually usable. Just wish it had a lav jack.
I really appreciate your reviews.
As someone who has a mic 2 that comes with the Osmo Pocket 3, is it possible to use both the mic 2 and Mic mini together with the osmo pocket 3 at the same time?
Yes, you can use one of each at the same time.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Thank you.
Fantastic review Tamara. I've watched a lot of your DJI videos recently as your videos are always shot beautifully, but also have great information. Hope your channel continues to grow quickly as I know you're putting a lot of work into each video. Subscribed 👍
I've had the Rode Wireless Go II since it launched...but being honest, they've gathered dust since a few months after launch.
First world problems 😂
Thanks.

I can completely relate about needed hassle-free gear around children 😆 Whatever makes my life easier when I’m with my little ones is a winner for me 🙌🏾
@@TamaraGabrielUK haha I know. I used to love tweaking things, but would now happily pay extra to make my life stress-free 😁
I am not finding this Mic Mini on the DJI website, nor on Amazon ?
For everyone saying Tamara Gabriel made a mistake and released this early, I disagree. DM productions (another YT channel) did the same thing with the DJI Mini 4 Pro (I think it was that model), released it about a week early. Seems like DJI will randomly choose 1 or 2 channels to release early to boost day 1 sales. Remember, DJI REQUIRES ALL CREATORS that work with them to send in their videos for review prior to release. So since they approved it to be released without a price mentioned, I would say it was released early on purpose.
@@PrestonGladd Wrong. This is a big goof.
@@51Drones I mean you don't know that for a fact, just like I don't, However since there is no specific link to DJI and only a random search link to Amazon, and also no price is listed (and she always tells us prices), I would say my theory is very plausible.
Wait, so the dual audio recording where it records with the internal mic on the Action 5 doesn't work with the Mic Mini?
There's no internal recording with the Mic Mini like there is with the Mic 2.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Yes, but can you still have the internal recording inside the Action 5? Where it records a separate track for the microphones on the camera?
Will it work with the sony camera adapter?
Great video as usual!
Seems like DJI needs a firmware update for the mic 2 for the noise reduction.
I hope you don't get in trouble for posting this early!! Just got the mysterious teaser email like an hour ago
Same
Nah, it's all good, I just didn't get the updated launch date.
Would it also be possible to include the Rode Wireless Micro in that comparison? Seems like the three are going to be direct competitors.
💯
i can use this dji mini wit my gopro 13 via Bluetooth, i can use or not ?? i think to buy it for me
Cooool! nice and stealthy! thanks Tamara... I already have the Mic2 Combo kit. Is this Mini compatible with the Mic2 receiver , e.g 1 Mic2 transmitter, 1 Mini ??? [ Maybe I missed it in the video]
If it is... I could see having 1 for all the reasons you described. blah blah blah
Great video! Will the transmitter plug straight into the Insta360 Ace Pro 2?
Yeah, the receiver will.
