Paid extra to be in Pre-Alpha. The Devs are friendly and helpful. This is one of my favorite games ever. Upgraded my "Console PC" (used the Integrated Graphics) to a GPU card just for this.

How come absolutely zero reviews bring up the story or characters, in any way....? Is there no story? The online store promises "captivating story featuring interesting and thoughtfully designed characters". I'll be needing more than a reason of "it looks cool", to go floating around in virtual space for unknown amounts of time, "upgrading" my ship. Why am I upgrading? Is there a bad guy? Am I bored, rich, for hire..???!?!!!!
This game feels very empty and unfinished. I was bored senseless after the first day playing it, I only got the game maybe 3 weeks ago and I've already not been playing it for about 2 and a half weeks lol would not recommend.
There is a story, it progresses as you play the game.
You want a story, go read a book.

I've had this game for a while.. I found it hard to get into....i kept blowing up.
I put it on the back burner but now I've gotten the jive, I love it!
Totally worth it
it has a bit of a steep learning curve for sure. took me about 7 runs before i finally completed a play through (on easy).. I'm really looking forward to Everspace 2!!
Had to refund it after an hour, not for me I guess.

Rockfish should really develop the game into something like Freelancer. It's so cleanly designed and so close in gameplay.
they've just launched a kickstarter campaign for Everspace 2, which will be open world and mission based
This is the game of my dreams, and the graphics are amazing. Unlike other space flight games it actually looks fun to play....
I can't understand why it isn't more popular. I guess sci fi fans prefer the fetch--quest, mining, simulation aspect of games such as EVE, No Man's Sky, Star Citizen, etc (which I personally find tedious).
If the developers figured out a way to combine the awesome dogfight mechanics with a ground-based action style 3rd person RPG FPS like Mass Effect I could see it being a winning formula. Imagine the RPG mechanics and story of a game like Mass Effect combined with intense space based combat.
does it have newtonian flying physics or is it fly like a jet-plane?

It does run very well. I'm sitting with a much weaker PC, about twice as weak, but I still have High\Ultra settings and run 30-60 fps, I've even streamed it without any issues. Also, no SSD.
Wrathinside and now it runs on ps4 and looks very nice too ... props to the devs

Hey PureBlooded, there's quite a bit that has been added since this video; it would take a while to get through it all. Also, the release date was moved back by one quarter to ensure all promises from the Kickstarter were made.

controller for sure.
The game itself told me keyboard & mouse is best. The control feels very similar to freelancer.

Not open world. Level based with 7 zones, with each zone becoming harder and harder

I'm new to this game, looks like you mine for supplies, fight some pirates ships, rinse and repeat. Any Big Boss battles?
there are a couple of kinda harder enermies that could be seen as "bosses" in the game.. Ancients, Frigates, and a final swarm fight

This game is ridiculously stupid and irritating. Don't waste your money and time. You are meant to die...repeatedly, and start over, making very minuet progress each time. As well, every time you die, you lose everything you've gained, like better weapons. You continually have to start over from scratch. I can't believe people like this crap of repetitive death.

Yeah pretty similar game mechanics, only you get more permanent upgrades for future runs in this than you do in FTL which imo was a little too harsh with the perma-death thing and having to start over with no improvements.
You've done a very good job of making this empty, unfinished, bore fest sound worth picking up. I bought this game in its fully released state and I was bored by the first day. You just play until you die then repeat, the story is terrible. The fact you basically start over every time you die was not a good touch imo either, I'm sure some will like it if you have no need for deph in a game its OK I guess but that's all it is, a mindless spaceship shooter.

While there are explorative components to the game, the protagonist, for all intents and purposes, is the ship itself. Wouldn't make sense to leave it behind.
That said, the final mission in the current build is planet-side, but there is no way to land on the terrain.

You're missing a treat, and multiplayer wouldn't work very well in this game.
Just bougt Elite dangerous, much better fun for me :D
