    The incest jokes were funny, but you have to keep in mind that a good amount of your viewers either haven't seen the movie or vaguely remember it, so now your insistence that Cher and Josh are related is being taken seriously. For those wondering, *NO.* They're *step*-siblings. Not related. You can relax.

      Kimi FW I've always found it weird that the film decided to go that way with it. like in the book, Emma and (I've forgotten his name) were only bound because her sister and his brother were married, so in the book it's way less weird

    • @aschmitt3395
      @aschmitt3395 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      These are two things which I would find least insulting. What's wrong with being a virgin and not being able to drive?

  • @edwardseverinsen5598
    @edwardseverinsen5598 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    What sets this movie apart from others is the lack of a clear antagonist. It really is just about introspection and character growth. Cher isn't battling a rival girl at school, she isn't crippled by the loss of her mother, she isn't super distraught over seeking her fathers validation. She's just a rich, spoiled girl who isn't one dimensional, is shallow and is a brat but isn't a mean person. She judges and looks down on people from a distance but later becomes fond of them after getting to know them.
    She matures. Just as everyone does. And even though her friend called her a virgin that can't drive she didn't suddenly go on a campaign to destroy her. It wasn't her arch to socially destroy her friend over an offhand remark. They made up the next time they saw each other and that was the end of that. The movie subverts a lot of what you could expect. While the people in the movie definitely aren't normal or real people by any means the movie captured normal human interaction in a pretty accurate way in my honest opinion. In the way that people aren't necessarily polarized one way or the other toward each other. Just some shade of grey.
    I could go on. I just really loved some of the unique tid-bits about this movie that didn't follow conventional story lines.

    Josh and Cher’s relationship isn’t really creepy at all. She was sixteen and he was eighteen when they started dating which is only two years of an age gap. Plus when it comes to the whole step sibling thing, their parents were only married for a couple months when she was 10/11 so it’s not that bad.
