Toyota has been improving this drive for many years, in other words, it is not a gearbox but a power splitter. Audi had it too and abandoned it, and now they regret it a bit. In Superbikes, they were also thinking about applying it. Williams, F1 had it too, but the FIA rejected the patent, it beat the car, it was too fast in the corners from the rest of the competition. Agricultural machinery also has CVT
I'm a happy owner of this exact model!! (Europe, bought in March 2022). I drove it for 7000kms until now. Here speed limit is 130km on highways btw I appreciate my car's pickup also in automatic Eco mode. I drove 7000kms total so far and I see a total consumption of 19,5 km/l.
It’s a Corolla hybrid with a sporty style. So it is limited to 190~195km/h. It’s not the GR Corolla with the 1.6 petrol engine and 300hp as you might have thought.

Not so. You "change gear" to put the revs at the right place for maximum power out of a corner or before overtaking, similar to a regular car. Battery regeneration is done with one of the electric motors.

I just dont get that it is almost 200hp and goes top speed at 190km. Dont get me wrong, I am a biker and I personally dont like speeding on a car, but my '06 Yaris 1.3 80hp can go 170 km top speed on the highway. I would expect more from a car with 2.5 times more horsepower and bigger engine displacement.

It’s not GR Corolla, the one with 1.6 300hp. This one is the Corolla GR Sport which is like GT Line, R Line, M Pack, AMG Line etc. It’s not a sporty version, the only differences with a basic Corolla are the wheels, the seats, the bumper, a few badges and the suspension setting.

Croît le ou non mais elle est très fun à conduire cette Corolla et la CVT n’est pas du tout un défaut. Je parle avec l’expérience.
