Do you ever find you get bit off? You must at least need to replace the mono every couple of fish.

I would sure think so as well. I tried 250 pound mono and almost got bit through by a shark that was just a hair over 3 feet long.

Use a braided steel bite leader with a shock leader of mono.

Well some of us can’t afford a 300$-2k lever drag reel. You’d be surprised how much fun it is catching a 4-6fter on a big spinning reel

why? a nice set up is around 400$, plenty budget. These spinning reel setups also work for smaller sharks
