Some part of the top 10 is just the popularity of the artist, especially in Japan. Yoasobi and Kenshi Yonezu are *huge* in Japan, and Yoasobi is also getting pretty big in the US now.
also this is just MATHEMATICALLY calculated, not based on some arbitrary criteria. A lot of top openings are basically the creators favorite anime openings or what they THINK are the top.
I don't really understand how anyone could say that this isn't a valid list... Music is ultimately a subjective topic. At least this list has a metric to its rankings besides the creator's opinions.

As others have mentioned this is just the most streamed anime OPs of all time, not the best. This means several things: 1) First and foremost, it's a huge bias towards new songs. 80% of this list is from the last ~5 years. Nobody is streaming anime OPs from the 80s even if they are absolutely goated lol. 2) Some of these are just by artists that are already very popular, so they just get a lot of streams regardless of the actual quality of the individual song. 3) On the same vein, some are just from huge shows. The song itself can be mid but if it's attached to a massive recent show it'll be higher on the list. TLDR: It's just a popularity list, same as any other. Whether or not you think popularity = quality is up to you, but personally I don't see it that way.
Recency bias is strong fr. How is Evangelion or Cowboy Bebop OP not even here? those two were extremely popular back then. Some of the classic dragonball op were too
I couldn't believe the weight that #2 had on this list. I was expecting the #3 factor to be out in full force, but Demon Slayer and JJK got cooked by YOASOBI. All the songs were def good, but the order felt so wrong to me.
There is also one huge point missing. The stream number is taken from most streamed version which is usually full song version or even official music video. Not single one of those is TV version ( 1 minute 30 seconds long version).
In the sense that it is a list that uses data and has consistent metrics to determine the order it is absolutely a legit list. However, its also true that certain biases exist as they would in all measurement systems. Newer anime songs have an advantage because of how much more mainstream using spotify and youtube has become, older songs are less likely to have been consistently available on both youtube and spotify since their release, some youtube videos with lots of views have been deleted, some songs are region locked on spotify. Before 2006 spotify and youtube didn't even exist so most people would have listened to them via CDs, Downloads, or just replaying that part of the anime when the hype was at its max, and those plays are nearly impossible to measure. Most of the songs here also have 1 official version that is heavily listened too, if there are multiple versions on the platform splitting the fanbase its a disadvantage, and Some older shows like pokemon and DBZ also had different openings in different countries further splitting the fanbase.
