THIS IS PHENOMENAL!! - YOASOBI「アイドル "IDOL" (English & Japanese) REACTION!!
This was WAY better than we could have expected!!😭 We've started Season 2 already on our Patreon and can't wait for you all to see our reactions😊www.patreon.com/CaraPrez
The reason why the official YOASOBI music video has garnered so many views is that, after watching the first episode of "Oshi no Ko" and then viewing the official MV, you'll understand why the music is structured the way it is, why the visuals are designed as they are, and why the lyrics are written in such a way. It’s rare to find an MV that is so deeply linked with the anime. Moreover, the brilliance of the seemingly unnatural English translation in the official English version lies in the fact that it not only matches the sounds of the Japanese but also aligns with the meaning of the story. In many cases, the sounds at the beginning and end of the lyrics are matched. What’s even more fascinating is that, after listening to the Japanese version several times, when you listen to the English version, there are parts where it sounds like Japanese even though it's in English. For example, ENG "That emotion melts" = JPN "daremoga mewo," and ENG "Completely deny" = JPN "kanpekijanai." I’m sure there are more, so try to find them!
This song was number 1 in Japan for almost 1/2 a year. Ai's VA also did a offical cover of it so you should listen to it so you can hear in her voice.
I just think it's so amazing how a character that wasn't with us for that long has made such a big impact on the story. She is precent always throughout even if she isn't physically there
The live version is so so good as well.
10:22...Yes, Virgin Mary is called "Virgem Maria" in spanish or portuguese. Its a reference that an idol needs to be pure and untouched at the eyes of his audience.
Well, in spanish it's Virgen María, so I guess it's portuguse, but they are practically the same
Maria/ Mary could also be a reference to the father being unknown thus making Aqua and Ruby's conception a form of virgin conception.
Fun fact: The girl that sings the song in japanese apparently is the same person that also sings it in english.
The rabbit is a big theme in the music video because in Japanese the word for Rabbit (Usagi / Usa) sounds similar to the Japanese word for Lie (Uso).
According to garnt aka gigguk
Idol is now the weeb national anthem 😂❤
You should check out Yoasobi’s live performance of this song as well… it’s fire!
The song presents different perspectives:
☆ Ai's public image seen by media and fans
☆ how former B-Komachi member sees Ai
(Based on short story '45510' written by Oshi no Ko's writer, Aka Akasaka. It portrays how she is jealous of Ai but respects her as the 'perfect and ultimate idol')
☆ how Ai portrays herself about her imperfections and secrets including her children...and her last words
I highly recommend you check out the Full Music video for the Ending Song of Season 1!
"Mephisto" - Queen Bee
you don't have to react , but check out the Live concert version. the intro is grand and epic, and you get to hear 100 thousand people chant "AI"
Check Frieren's music video too, it's the same singer
You finally reacted to it. I was wondering why didn't you made a reaction to this masterpiece. You guys are amazing.
We didn't want to risk any spoilers! But now we also have a far stronger connection to everyone than when we started
@@CaraPrezReacts by the way I think reacting to the most listened to openings video is a great idea, but make sure you do the most recent one (I think its like a month old, theres many videos like it but the month old one not only its got updated stats, it also includes spotify streams + yt views + other streaming platforms)
11:22 Baby don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me no more 🎶
it was mentioned by someone else in the comments but i also agree you guys should check out rie takahashi’s (ai’s va) cover of idol!! whether it be a reaction or just on your own time, it’s worth checking out bc hearing this song sung by ai herself seriously hits even harder 🥲
the lyrics of the Japanese ver is perfectly translated to English, so the English ver is exactly the same meaning as the Japanese ver
Ai voice actor, Rie Takahashi sing "idol " cover song. That's also amazing.
The live version from Yoasobi is definitely worth the watch !!!
Every live version of yoasobi just takes the song into another level
The song itself is absolutely amazing, but you just had to be there when "Idol" became the #1 song in the world. 😮
There was a sort or morbid feeling seeing that happen in real time, knowing Ai's fate and all....
please react to the live performance too, soo phenomenal
Best opening ever, the first japanese song worlwide view-wise!
Both the track and the lyrics are incredible, and the clip’s so catchy! And the fact she sung it in both languages…!
Definitely a fav ❤
It was already so big and I loved it to much but what solidified it for me was seeing Stray Kids and other kpop idols dancing behind to Ikura when she was singing. it reminded me of when I used to watch kpop lol.
I love this song an Mv so much, kinda sad they didn't do the same with the Frieren Mv😢
Daym
Idol show so
Let's go, one of the best openings of the recent years
first time I listend to the lyrics, was when I finished watching the first ep1.. the damage it did on me ☠☠
You should watch the top 100 most popular anime openings of all time
Takahashi Rie (Ai's VA) did a cover singing and dancing as Ai. It's worth watch it.
I really like your interpretation of the opening visuals, I think you really hid the nail there.
The Maria part is also one that took my attention and I think there is even more to that than what you already mentioned. Remember episode 1? Ruby and Aqua claimed to be gods born from Ai because she was chosen by the gods, sounds familiar doesn’t it? Furthermore Maria is the Idol of the catholic church, seen as a perfect and pure mother of all. This is completely in tune with Ais protrayel, her lies that try to make her look like the perfect person. It speaks volumes about the depersonification of Ai, she isn’t seen as a human but a symbol, being put on a pedestal constantly.
But this isnt where it ends. Making Ai Maria also equates Aqua and Ruby with Jesus, you know, the guy who was REBORN! There is more to write on this but that would go into future stuff so Ill leave it for now.
Lastly this allegory is a great opener for a religious viewing lens of the show, the whole thing depicts the entertainment industry as a replacement for the church and how this leads to dehumanizing the performers and radicalizing their followers through misguided believes etc.
0:44 XD
ナイスリアクションです😊👍
Now you have to see the live version of the intro. Its even more amazing.
8:52 Ai is wearing the exact same clothes from that part from ep1 🥲
Just read the manga last week because of hiatus, now 07:04 the part where the other idol members kinda hates & love Ai at the same time gives me chills..
The lyrics themselves are from the short story "45510". I suggest reading it.
4:55 man youre in for a treat next season
Live performance reaction when? :)
If you have paused the song while discussing things, you two would have enjoyed it even more...
Rabbit in Japanese is usagi and uso also means lie - hence the rabbit
I thought it was more like "white rabbits are seem as a simbol of cuteness and innocence, and thats what Idols are expected to be, cute and inocent
So when she is on stage, she has to 'wear a white bunny costume' for the fans"
Also, 'Sagi' means fraud
Opening reaction series would also be fantastic
Idol is literary the first episode
Translyric a song is a whole another level of translating language.
Must try the live version
Can you guys also react to frieren op 1 please it’s the same singers!
I hope you guys react to live version.
It's my 69th like to this reaction.😂 And for some reason I don't see the last episode of Oshi No Ko Season 1.😂 Is it not released yet? I'll wait for it. Don't worry. Great reaction!😃
Many reactors record their reactions to multiple episodes ahead of time (unless its a seasonal anime)
So, they probably have the recordings, but they have a schedule to follow, so we have to wait
@@sosaalexis48 I just wanted to be sure.😂 Thanks for reply.😉
Yep! We record ahead for our Patreon, here on YT we post Oshi No Ko every Wednesday and Friday 😊
Wait, y'all didn't watch this yet? That's cragy. I actually prefer Amalee's English cover over Yoasobi's English version. If you do watch the hundred most streamed, make sure it takes in YT Music and Spotify and TH-cam streams.
There is no other opening song that passes 200 million views beside this; however, there are some anime openings that pass 100 million views. and Idol stand above all of them by a lot of margin; i mean, it got more than 500 million views, and I don't really think any other anime can beat those records.
This song won several awards on and outside Japan. Oshi No Ko also won Anime of the Year in Japan, although it lost to JJK S2 in Crunchyroll, but the anime was still one of the nominees considering Crunchyroll does not even have this anime license.
it's interesting that you mentioned ruby dying her hair black. *wink at my fellow manga readers*
