From Words to Action: Statements on Communication for a Better Future

Statements, manifestos, declarations, pledges. Everyone from civil society to governments has outlined ethics and action to advance social justice. In late 2022, WACC’s quarterly journal Media Development highlighted many such statements on communication.
Are these just lofty documents or roadmaps for real change? Do they help civil society work together for more impact? And what can we do to make these words a reality on the ground?
This WACC Conversation Circle explores how statements might serve as an advocacy and engagement tool and help us translate words in action as we look to the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) +20 in 2025.
