    In this video I show you how to set up the auto retract seat upon entry on your Subaru Outback or Legacy. This feature makes the driver's side seat retract automatically when you open the door. It will then use the facial recognition feature to scan your face and set your memory seat and mirrors.

    I think they got it backward. The seat should retract when you turn the car off. When I go to get into my car, I don't want to be waiting for the seat to move back. Especially in bad weather! Other cars do it on driver exit. Big goof here, IMO.

    • @kausvideo
      @kausvideo หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Totally agree. Especially if you have difficulty getting out of the car.
      Turn off engine, seat retract to what you set it for comfortable exit and entry.

      That's exactly why I am here.
      I am trying to get out of my car comfortably and have the seat go back so when I get back in, it automatically sets to my driving preset.
      Why is this backwards?

    • @kausvideo
      @kausvideo 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@patrickmoore7227it’s backwards because if I manually or have button number 2 set to have seat totally in the back position and adjusted to my
      Comfort level (being disabled doesn’t help) for getting out of the car. Thats great. However when I go to get back into car the seat moves forward some. Just enough to make my life miserable.
      Should have seat go to an exit setting or not move forward instead of back when getting in car.
      I even turned off the auto seat feature however it still goes to some middle position.
      Frustrating and painful getting in car.

    Many thanks Alex !!! my saviour !
    I'm the main driver, yet my seat kept moving forward and downwards each time I opened the door, it was very frustrating.
    With your video, I fixed the issue, now the seat doesn't move at all when I get in....ahhhhh finally...
    I probably ended-up in this situation because the documentation is not clear about the fact that there are more than just two seat memory...
    the documentation says that there are two seat memory from the door buttons, but fails to clearly mention that there are seat position associated to the user recognition and probably even one set per key (remote)... all this to say that I struggled a lot in the first weeks to get the seat and mirrors to be adjusted for me and my wife (which drove it once in the first year)
    Most of that year the seat was ok, but I recently found that I preferred a higher and further back default position...hence the above problem...
    Many thanks.
    I have the Outback 2023 and previously,
    the "smaller" Outback 2008 standard (which I kept 15 years and was still in very good shape)
    Long live Subaru !

    Thank you Alex for your dedication and excellent work.
    I’d like to suggest something: 1) turn off this mode altogether 2) upon exit move seat backwards as you like, it will stay in this position also for entering the vehicle, 3) when needed enter the vehicle with seat already backwarded , then push memory button.
    Isn’t it easier ?

    • @kausvideo

      My 2024 outback touring xt has a mind of its own.
      I had to set preset 2 to move seat back so I could get out of car as I’m partially disabled. Even though in settings I have the option to auto move the seat back when opening the door. It still moves into a different position which is more difficult to get in car. Then when I actually get in and it recognizes me it moves the seat to my preferred driving position.
      Someone else mentioned that this seemed backwards as seat should move back to your profile position for getting out of the car and stay there and only move when you get in.

    This kind of work for my 22 Forester, the screen is different but the steps are basically the same. You go to the menu in the top screen and activate the auto retreat option then turn off the car, once the car is off press the set button for a second and at the same time (keep pressing set) you push once the open/subaru button on the remote key and the function is ready. It only works for entry not for leaving and the car must be locked for this function to work.

    It worked for my 2020 Forester. Just a different way to get to the Driver Monitoring System, then turning the Seat Retract on Entry ON. On the Forester you get there by pushing the INFO button on the steering wheel. Tap it until the "press and hold the INFO button screen comes up" Then press and hold and scroll to Driver Monitoring System. Easy Peezy. Also, you can set the seat to retract on exit by setting up the seat buttons on the door. Retract you seat to where you want it for exit then press and hold the Set button on the door and then press 1, or 2 button till you hear a beep. Now all you have to do is press the 1 or 2 button that you set and the seat will retract.

I suggest another variant: 1) turn off this seat retracting feature. 2) Before exiting, retract seat backward with knob manually. 3) when you return to car and won’t to enter, the seat position still be retracted backward. 4) when you are inside the car ready to drive press your memory button, and the seat will return to your chosen position for driving.

      I love the "I don't need it, so why would anybody use it" mentality. Makes me chuckle. - This specific feature has been a huge upgrade for me since my last vehicle. I am almost 1.5 foot taller than my wife, so when she was the last person in the vehicle, I would be kissing my knees when I got into the car.

    • @livenhfree
      @livenhfree 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      "Need" is not the same as "want." I tell my wife this whenever I "want" something. ;-) However, I do have a major beef with push-button start. Because I don't need my key to physically start the car, I'm always leaving it on the seat, and I only find out when I get out of the car and try to lock it from the door button or handle. I'd love to know if people were really asking for this, or if it was simply a pointy-headed engineer's idea. Now... my wife's 2017 Mercedes GLC-300 has BOTH push-button and keyed. You just pull the button off, which reveals the keyhole. Brilliant!
