I Love that brown interior. I bought my Forester Touring for the saddle Brown Leather interior, but now that I’m use to all of the other perks of the Touring, then it would be hard to settle for less with my next vehicle
Hey Alex, is it possible to link a 2024 Outback Wilderness (that doesn't have door side seat memory buttons) fob to a set memory position for seats? That way my wife and I can have our own individual seat positions saved to different fobs and not need to adjust the position each time we change drivers?
Appreciate your work, it's great to have this information. Have new 2024 Forester Premium (Australia); please tell how to reverse the demonstrated fob programming, it worked out be unsuitable for our situation. Thank you
Alex, I love your videos! They've really helped me come up to speed quickly. Once my husband and I program our key fobs, will our 2024 Outback Touring XT get confused when both of us are in the car with both key fobs? Thanks for all the great information! I agree with other commenters that these are the best Subaru videos.
Oh man thanks for clearing that up! Just got my 2020 Outback and registered myself but the seat settings saved were different than the door buttons and every time it scanned my face it would move the seat to that setting and I'd have to push the door button! Now it's synced up. Thanks! Love these tips videos...still have to go through all the others to fine time everything!
A very helpful video. I was having issues with me opening locked car after my wife drove and the seat and mirror not changing to my preset from door and eyesight settings. Thanks Alex for another great and informative video!
Thank you. Just picked up my new 2024 Outback Limited. I’m tall and my wife is shorter. Is there a way to have the driver seat retract all the way upon exit for either of us automatically?
I learned I had this turned on, but it doesn't lower the seat (my wife raises it most of the way up) and it doesn't go back far enough for me to get in. I'm trying setting both fobs to my position.
Yo Alex, thanks for all the videos. They are helpful to us new SUBARU owners let me ask you and pardon my ignorance ,but will this work on a new 2024 Subaru, Crosstrek, sport edition please inform thank you.
My 2020 accent has a different screen than those shown. It’s was purchased in November of 2019. Kinda like the last one you shown last only top area seems larger.
Alex, your videos are always so informative. My facial recognition does not always work right away, say if I'm wearing sunglasses. Is there a way to re-scan your face once you're in the car? Thanks so much!
Alex - question … How do you “tweak” seats/mirrors after setting up the Driver Monitoring System? Do we just select Set then the number and it updates the Driver Monitoring system? Just purchased a 2025 Forester Touring and your videos are keeping us sane. Thank you SO much!
Hi Alex, how about if we want to change the seat position with facial recognition ? If I change my Forester seat it just moves it right back next time I get in.
Alex can you explain what we see in the MFD under the vehicle dynamics sub-screen (The screen where we see the angel of inclination and the power going to each wheel)? (I drive a 2020 Impreza) Thanks!
Alex!! Is there a list of topics of your videos? I’m taking my 2019 Outback to the shop tomorrow because the battery drainage issue. I just bought it a few months ago and this problem is driving me crazy. I’m hoping it’s the alternator because if it’s parasitic drain, I can’t live with that hanging over my head.
Totally unrelated question to this video. I have a 2020 Crosstrek with the my Subaru app and when I switch over to heat in the winter the AC is on when I get in the car after using the remote start. Is there a way to turn this off. I always learn something from your videos. Thank you.
Thanks for these great videos. Congrats on your Silver Play Button award. Sometimes facial recognition doesn’t seem to recognize me and it just says “Welcome.” Is there a way, other than opening and closing the door to cause it to scan and recognize me? Thanks.
So I am short: I drove last. my hubby gets in and has to move the seat back to get in and then it will recognize him and then it will return to his favourite setting. Is there a way to set the memory seats so they go back, so you can get out and in and out comfortably so that you dont have to push the seat back? I have a 2025 forester.
I have a '23 Ascent limited. Is there a way to have the seat automaically move back? My wife is 5' where I'm almost 6' tall. The facial recognition doesn't work when she last drove it so I can't sit in the seat. Watching video I was thinking to link both fobs to my position and the facial recognition / 1 door button for my wife's settings. Would this work? Better way to do it?
I have 2020 Forester Touring for 4 years everything worked as you showed on video but one day I started the car and mu seats did not adjust. I wan to program it again but when I press set button there is no beep, nothing. Also when I want to register user again thru facial recognition i am gettinging message " can not register please try again later". Any idea what can be the problem?
Hey Alex. Your videos are excellent. SO helpful. Thank you! I was wondering if you could help me with a couple things. I'm a new owner of a 2022 Subaru Outback. I love it so far, but I have a couple questions about the touch screen. First, I've notice that I have to reset my climate each time I get in the car. For example, today I set the heat to my desired level, then turned off the car for a quick stop. Got back in my car and the temp and fan levels were completely different. Is there a way to keep the climate settings the same as they were before I turned the car off? Second, I've noticed that music from my iPhone will automatically play when I start the car. Is there a way to disable this? I've also noticed that the radio will automatically play in some circumstances. I've only had the car for a few days so I haven't yet figured these things out. Also, my previous Subaru was quite old and didn't have any of these features, so I have a lot to learn. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!
Hello! When I open car with my key fob, seat is ok, adjusted for my settings. But left mirror don't do this. It's on stand by position/ When I push button 1 for seat set, mirror take place how I've adjust it. Can You recomend smth? Thanks
I have a 2020 Subaru Legacy. When I open the door the seat goes completely forward. How do I have the seat stay all the way back when I open the door?? I need it to stay completely back for me to get into the car. After I am in the car it will automatically set the seat in the position where I drive. Thanks Paul
Hi Alex, do you know if there is a way to switch between side mirror positions for multiple drivers in the 2024 Crosstrek Sport? I do not have the power seat option. I thought maybe the driver profile in the infotainment system would save mirror positions, but it seems to only determine whose phone gets connected.
Hi Alex, thank you for your videos. Helps me to feel confident with my first car. So, just bought a subaru crosstrek a week ago, and i noticed a "cranking sound" everytime i turn while in fullstop. is this something to be concerned about?
Happy to hear you've found them useful! Not sure without seeing this for myself. I would encourage you to have it looked at by your Subaru store asap just to be everything is in good working order.
I'm about to purchase a 2024 Outback Touring XT. On my previous Outback, 2018 OB Touring, I could program the key fob as a 3rd person, never attempted to set the 2nd fob, and have the seat set to go all the way back and down so it was easier to enter the vehicle and then I just pressed the preset button on the door. Are you still able to do this with the 2024 OB Touring XT? I also had a question about the key FOBS. What the maximum number that can be programmed to the vehicle at 1 time? Is it only 2? I have 2 extra FOBs from my last OB that are the same model as is used in the 2024, back story the 2018 was totalled from a high speed head on collision and I still have the key FOBs as I kept the vehicle.
My wife loves her new Ouyback Wilderness we bought last month (except for the nav, which she calls DumbDumb) but every time I drive it, I wonder why memory isn't available on Wilderness models. I'd have happily paid extra for memory.
Is there some reason to set the memory using two, or all three, methods? The face recognition can configure five drivers, so that sounds like a reason to consider it as a primary method. I could foresee setting both the fob and the face as problematic though. Unless there's some order of precedence for the setup methods perhaps? Scenario: I have set my seat using my fob. Driver 3 has set his seat using face. Driver 3 has to borrow my fob to make the car work. Where does the seat end up after driver 3 enters the car? Overthinking over here... 🙂 -Steve
I know in my case my wife sits so close to steering wheel that I can’t even get into car for auto recognition to work so I’m hoping this works with fob.
My Subaru app mileage service is not the same mileage on my car for service. why. My car has 12,000 miles and my Subaru app is saying my next oil change is at 24,000 miles. What happened to 18,000 thousand mile?
Hi Alex, I was wondering if you could advise me. I just bought a 2021 CrossTrex premium in July but are afraid to take it to the car wash. I've heard some of the safety features may case the car to stop or malfunction in the car wash. Can you give me a brief instruction on what I need to do prior to the car wash to avoid this? Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and thanks for all the great videos.
The 2021 Crosstrek should be ok to drive through the carwash without turning any of your safety controls off. I have heard of the auto braking system engaging but that was mostly on the older years. If it does interfere, simply turn it off. The on/off switch is near your dome light and has an image of two cars crashing into one another. You'll need to click and hold it for a few seconds to turn on/off. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving also!
I Love that brown interior. I bought my Forester Touring for the saddle Brown Leather interior, but now that I’m use to all of the other perks of the Touring, then it would be hard to settle for less with my next vehicle
Just bought a 2021 certified used Ascent and I can't tell you how much your videos have helped me get acclimated. Thank you!

This channel is the best information source on Subaru cars 👍

This video was a TREMENDOUS help! Thank you so much! I was so sick of clicking the memory seat button upon entering the car. I'm all set now.
Oh man thanks for clearing that up! Just got my 2020 Outback and registered myself but the seat settings saved were different than the door buttons and every time it scanned my face it would move the seat to that setting and I'd have to push the door button! Now it's synced up. Thanks!

A very helpful video. I was having issues with me opening locked car after my wife drove and the seat and mirror not changing to my preset from door and eyesight settings. Thanks Alex for another great and informative video!
Hi Alex. Great videos. If you have 2 fobs can you set them for 2 different seat positions? Getting my new Ascent next week. TIA
Hi Alex, can you please tell me how to have my passenger door open same time as driver door
Thanks Alex for your videos - we purchased a 2024 outback and watched your videos to get a better understanding on how it works
Thank you. Just picked up my new 2024 Outback Limited. I’m tall and my wife is shorter. Is there a way to have the driver seat retract all the way upon exit for either of us automatically?
Yes, there's an auto retract on entry setting. This can be turned on within the settings. I'll try to make a video on this soon!
I missed this before posting my question which is similar
I learned I had this turned on, but it doesn't lower the seat (my wife raises it most of the way up) and it doesn't go back far enough for me to get in. I'm trying setting both fobs to my position.

Hi Alex. Could you do a video on 2024 Crosstrek X mode . Specifically, ways to engage and the speed limitations when engaged. Thanks
I’ve got a new 2024 Crosstrek sport and what is the X mode I don’t even know can you tell me please thank you.
I just bought a new 2025 Outback and this video really helped me. Thanx!
My 2021 no longer recognizes me when I get in. What do you think happened?
Love ur channel
Thank you! 😊
My 2020 accent has a different screen than those shown. It’s was purchased in November of 2019. Kinda like the last one you shown last only top area seems larger.
Yes, the 19-22 Ascent Screen are like the Forester. 23-24 Ascent are like the Outback
Hi Alex, Can you change your setting more than once or until you fine what you like?
Alex, your videos are always so informative. My facial recognition does not always work right away, say if I'm wearing sunglasses. Is there a way to re-scan your face once you're in the car? Thanks so much!

Hi Alex, how about if we want to change the seat position with facial recognition ? If I change my Forester seat it just moves it right back next time I get in.
You just change to your desired position and rescan in the settings.

One question - does the car lockup automatically when you walk away from it with your key fob?
Thanks for these great videos. Congrats on your Silver Play Button award.
Sometimes facial recognition doesn’t seem to recognize me and it just says “Welcome.” Is there a way, other than opening and closing the door to cause it to scan and recognize me? Thanks.
Does the driver monitoring system over ride the door or keyfob settings on the seat setting. I have a 24 Forester touring.

The seat positions constantly migrate. I'd love to know how to remove the setting from the fobs!

Looking quite dapper there Alex!

I have the 2024 Outback Wilderness. Does it have this feature?
Memory seats are only on the Limited and Touring trim.
@@alexpmoSo no memory seats in the outback wilderness at all? What about with keyfob or button on the door?
How about any facial recognition?
For anything?
@@boblasher2542 that’s correct. No memory seats on the wilderness or facial recognition

What about the 2nd key for a 2nd driver?
How do you change the seat memory settings after you set them?
Reposition your seat and follow the same steps as if you were initially setting it.
I have a 2021 Forester premium which has facial recognition

I really wish they would leave the knobs for heat/cool it is more of a distraction using touch screen.
Really unfortunate that's not in the impreza or crosstrek
yes, sadly only on certain models 🙁
Crosstrek wilderness doesn't have this feature nor does it have front facing camera...Subaru dropped the ball on for sure
Forester wilderness does not have it either
The mechanic can’t figure out at the Subaru car dealer.
Thumbs down of the facial feature that prompts you as being distracted when you are not. Terrible feature.
