Soopy Gril my cat has always done that until I got a done type. It’s called petmare booda dome from amazon. I got it on sale for $15. It looks like an igloo. The entrance has steps then turn into the litter box side. She loves it and I love that I’m not cleaning sand castles off the store each day.

My cat doesn’t dig to China but he has only 3 paws so the one drags and collects all the litter and it goes all over the floor even with an enclosed litter box 😂 love him to death though
The litter I use says to fill the box 3-4 inches deep, which I always figured was to make you use (and therefore buy) more litter

Make sure to cut the handles off the paper bags, my cat once got his head stuck in it and kept spinning chocking himself out. Luckily I was nearby and was able to save him. Like to save a life!
My Tazzycat once got her head caught the same way, but instead of choking, she just kept frantically racing all over my apartment, screaming and peeing in terror, until the bag got caught on the underside of my bed and she was able to get out.

sniperdog Srsly, there was a trail of pee up and down my hall, I actually slipped on it as I was chasing her trying to help.
I didn't even mention the best part: the incident happened in the middle of the night, so after ensuring she was safe, I went back to bed without bothering to fish the giftbag out from under my bed...
You gussed it -- she actually climbed into it and got it caught around her neck AGAIN a few hours later! But this time I was able to catch my poor dumb Tazzy as she ran around, and I then sliced open the giftbag handles before placing it in the garbage can.

i love to go to cat adoption centers and play with cats there, and on the way out i always donate money for them! :) sadly, we can't get another cat cuz i already have my adorable little baby. I just want to give cats a nice and cozy home, seeing them in those cages breaks my heart!!!
Lily, you should go to a local shelter or rescue and volunteer to play with the kitties. We always welcome volunteers to help socialize the kitties so they can all find homes. Even an hour or 2 a week makes a HUGE difference!
you should get another cat as a companion for your little furry friend. they can play with each other while you are away, and keep each other happy.

Good advice also cats love to play in window ceils but if you have blinds that have cords , please make sure the cords are put up so they don’t get in tangled in them and get chocked, it is a hazard to children and animals.
Same happened to me. She got startled and when she ran out of the bag the handle got stuck and she freaked out. She ran under the bed and the bag got caught on the frame and she was choking herself. I was terrified trying to calm her to tear the handles off.
Just an FYI, if you use bags remove the handles. my cat nearly strangled himself when a twine handle got caught around his neck.

Yes cats are obligatory carnivores. I have seen vets recommend pumpkin as an external source of fiber though, but that was to treat symptoms like IBS and such, and you always want to ask the vet first! For hairballs wet food!! Cats are constantly dehydrated, and because gtey derive from the dessert they are designed to get all of their moisture from what they eat. So if you do kibble goats milk (non pasteurized) or water can help, but adding even just a little bit of wet is better than all kibble.
When I make my cat socktoys I put tea bags in them with strong smells, she loves it
You can also grow your own catnip and make a spray from that. Just be careful, because catnip can take over your whole garden if not grown in the right spot.

This guy really loves weed for cats.
I advocate talking with your cat the same way you do any other member of your family. After all it's not like they aren't present for family conversation or verbal exchanges all day. However when you spend a few minutes during your day talking to them rather than at them and giving them the love they deserve with sweet words and gestures is really a way to bond with your cat. You will know you are successful when they talk to you (not only when they are hungry). Another way to entertain your cat....play some music. I usually recommend classical, however movie soundtracks are great especially from Thomas Newman!!
Not all cats like the same music though. One of ours is extremly into blues & jazz - but also likes classic (as long it has a piano in it). She can listen for hours to piano music. The other one is all about the mtz mtz and electro swing. The more mtz mtz the better.
I agree on the talking part, though ours can talk your ear off. They talk a lot. One of them likes to shit chat about everything and have long conversations.
Is that why my cat never shuts up? Jk, he was like that from the time he showed up on my porch & insisted we were soulmates.
He likes watching Mma & Sopranos. I put on classical or soothing stuff when tree grinders r nearby which freaks him out.

When giving treats, throw them around the rooms or hallways for the cats so they can have something to 'hunt' and keep them occupied awhile.
Jerry David ....yes, it's great fun, too. I hide prawns (I count them all first!) and also tie a raw chicken wing to a length of string and run around the house with it, having first heated it to mouse temperature. Yes, I do need to get out more, but my Bengal loves it!

MeowingInsanely I just learned this. Only about 70% of cats do and they need a certain gene. About 70% of the cats that don't react to catnip do react to valerian root and something else though.

The socks work great! you don't even need to get that fancy with them -- we stuff ours with polyfill and catnip & tie the socks off at the top & our kitties LOVE these homemade kick-sacks. We'll try the bell & paper filling on the next round.
Just as a tip: if you have a LOT of socks, make these catnip kickers up & take 'em to your local no-kill cat shelter as a donation. You'll brighten up the homeless kitties lives!
YES! I run a small special needs and neonatal kitten rescue in KY and we always appreciate any donations, especially food and toys!

I've made the covered litter box for my cats years ago and it is awesome. I got a container with the latching lid to make sure it doesn't come off accidentally. $6-$9 is so much better than $45!!

Use yarn or string, never give a cat a pipe cleaner/chenille stem, they can hurt themselves BADLY! If not kill them
yarn or string could alo kill them , it can fray and tangle in their intestines...
Cinder Bug it won't kill them as fast as perforated organs like the wire in pipe cleaners will, and 99.9999999% of the time, string and yarn will pass through the body with no harm, especially the tiny piece you're going to need to tie off whatever you make, it's not even a worrisome issue tbh
For the sock toy, you don't even need string or pipe cleaners. Its so much easier just to tie the end of the sock in a tight knot.. I've never had a problem with any of my cats untying it.

WOW, what great ideas for me since our family is about to bring a new furry family member to our home. When we did have cats, it was always about buying stuff from the store. these hacks tell me. nope, not going to buy, just going to be creative make it our own. there's always a certain pride with creating your own thing. You can apply a little Vaseline to your kitties front paws once a week or so. Cheapest and easiest way to treat and prevent hairballs. My vet told me this 20 years ago and it still works best!

1: Hairballs are actually Good for the cat to Throw up, dont ever do something to prevent cats from throwing up..
2: dont hot glue googly eyes like that, the chance of them choking on them is huge.
Pumpkin doesn't keep the hair from coming out it just makes it easier when it does also trying to have multiple smaller hairballs instead of one big one
The fiber in the pumpkin helps push the hair through the system so they can eliminate it regularly in their feces instead of having a build up they have to regurgitate, I believe.

K, the thing about hairballs, if they ate it there is possibilities that there's gonna be a blockage and you don't want that, right? So if your concern about them to prevent to throw up then use a grass from your yard or buy a catnip grass and put soil because if you don't you'll need to put water in it everday.

Dried oregano has exactly the same effect on cats as catnip, and you can potty train your cat to use the toilet or floor drain just as easily as you can train it to use kitty litter.
I started to train my kittens to use toilet after my son brought them home. Only problem is you have to remove their "training pan" in the toilet when you need to go and my hubby found it inconvenient and so I caved and stopped the training. Now he regrets he made me stop as he wishes we didn't have to have a litter box in the house! I did raise our son diaper free, and had only praise for that! You win some and you lose some, such is life!

Toilet training goes against your cat’s natural instincts and means you can’t tell if they’re having digestive or urinary issues. Convenient for you but not recommended for the cat.

If you follow anyone who truly knows about cats, for example Jackson Galaxy, the last one regarding a "privacy" litter box is so far off its awful! According to experts like Jackson, cats dont want privacy, they prefer a litter with quick and easy open exits in case their first entrance into the litter is blocked. So he recommends an open, lid-less litter box in an opportune area of the house (like social areas). Also, even the bags of litter say 3-4" of kitty litter to fill it up with...where r u getting the 2" or less?

another cathack is if your cat eats its food to fast you can take a yop bottle or some other container that can roll and make holes 2 times as big as the food and screw the lid on. Pour dry cat food and let your cat roll the bottle. :)

I loved the idea of putting some paper into the sock with the catnip! I've done that before, but only just with catnip, and tying the sock off. One of my cats liked to chew things he shouldn't so a pope cleaner wouldn't work. :3 And the top-down litter box is GENIUS. OH. MY. GOSH. I've never seen that!!! I've been a cat owner of many cats for years!!! I think I am TOTALLY going to make this!! What would you recommend to deal with smoothing out the plastic top??
I think you can just use a rough sandpaper. or tape around the edges as the video mentioned.

MagicianFairy it's probably a little late but you can buy them from pet stores everywhere and also online, however you can also buy cat brushes designed for short medium or long haired cats, but if you're on a really tight budget, you can actually use that rubber glove trick or even just your hands!

Phankitty the purpose of the glove isn't to avoid touching fur, its to help get rid of shed hair for cats that are uncomfortable with brushes or whose skin is to delicate for brushes.
Phankitty My cats are long haired and let me tell you, no, hands are not just as efficient. I have to brush them twice a week during the summer to help them avoid hair balls and once a week during the cooler seasons to keep them from getting matted fur. The glove has helped a lot with my cat who has more sensitive skin.
Buy a reusable rubber or a microfiber glove or even make a mitt out of a big sock or cloth, buy a nubby rubber makeup brush cleaner or similar, or use a hot glue gun to make textures rubbery ridges.
The best tip is to always have a handyman around the house ;)
Clip those shopping bag handles or you can end up with a very scared cat “chased” by a paper bag
I work at an SPCA if you don’t have a kitty stop by and ask to foster! You can keep them however long you want and the kitties get to stretch their legs and get some extra love and attention! 😊💕

When cleaning the lint in the dryer, use a dryer sheet to clean it off. It works great. I loved this video. So many ideas to try. I believe my favorite is the cat litter plastic tub. I need a new one soon. Great idea! Thank you.

My cat jumps up on the desk when I'm on the computer, so I keep her brush there and she gets brushed a couple of minutes every day when she joins me at the computer. Since doing this, she hasn't thrown up one hairball, and she's quite long haired and was prone to hairballs. I hang a plastic bag on the end of the desk and clean the hair out of the brush into it for disposal.
Love these hacks! For cat owners, remember to be careful when feeding moist food to our kitties, as it is easier for their mouth to grow bacteria inside if not cleaned properly. ✌🏼

Glad I stumbled upon this vid cuz I just made a sock toy for my boy and he's loving it!
Take a cardboard box, pull an old t-shirt over it with the neck whole at the box' open side and use tape or yarn to fixate the fabric to the box and to hide the t-shirt's arms. Et voilà - a wonderful cat cave.
And you can also use an old sock, stuff it with an old t-shirt and some catnip and you've got a perfect kick toy. I attached a string to it, it's one of my kitten's favourite toys. I use it whenever he wants to roughhouse with me. I uploaded a video of him playing with it if you're interested, so cute.
Another toy you could make for cats is a ball of aluminium foil all scrunched up. I tried it on my grandmas kitten who is 2yo (2 years old) amd she loved it!
