After years of rebuilding other people's quality workmanship like this truck lol makes me glad I spent all the money on an original low mileage grandpa truck
Yes OG sport bumper!!! Dang I am glad to see where you’re going with this. Making the OBS lovers happy. Sorry for multiple comments but I keep getting more excited the further I go in this video 😂
Just replaced all plastic interior parts in my OBS and used plastic paint to restore in original color. Best pieces I could find cost around $1,500 total. They have all factory clips. Seat belts were sent to a company for rebuild and new cloth straps. Kick panel carpet and floor carpet replaced. My dash was good but did replace radio and gage pod. Good luck, I will watch all videos. Hope to see you at an event this year!
I done the same thing with mine. Imma huge fan of black interior so on two of my trucks I’ve taken it all apart, cleaned it with hot water and dawn, prepped it with SEM prep, then used black SEM dye. Never had any peeling or anything like that. 10/10 recommend!
Them Street Truck Magazine boys: "Please dont tell anyone how we threw this truck together so quickly!" I am glad you're giving this truck the attention it deserves. I followed along on their build and fell in love with the truck but I was really surprised at how fast it came together with all the new parts and interior. I live about 30 mins from TMI, and had my eyes on those seats for my truck.
ive been working on a extended cab short bed 96 c1500 for about a year now. Ive been looking hard for a single cab 90-94 to off the chassis restore. Glad i found your channel.
It amazes me how many ways we can find uses for our engine hoists; I used mine over the holidays to unload a huge Husky tool box (700 lbs) keep on rocking Josh 👌 went thru a similar re work on my 1958 Apache, redoing others crappy work.
At 24:17 there is a black wire with an eyelid on it that needs to be grounded for the truck to actually turn off with the key…I found it when I was reinstalling the dash on mine lol
Cool video, Josh. I wish I was still able to do that. You seem to have a lot of experience doing tear downs on the OBS. I’m excited getting to watch you build this truck. Thanks for sharing and have a great week!!
Love these beige/tan interior obs trucks, my 94 obs blazer has the same buckets/tan interior and agree 1000% the oem buckets are the real deal.. only thing ive considered swapping them for is recaro sc3, lsb tartan, or lsb monzas.. the oem buckets are so comfy tho, even having 1khp turbo ls i dont want to change them😂 really
Amazing how many corners were cut to make a magazine deadline. Truck will be nice when done. Your Dakota Digital box looks like it was laid up against the back of the stereo. That could get hot enough to melt plastic. Glad I don’t have to get that far into mine…..yet. Be safe out there.
Good luck with the build! Working on my 97 c1500 rcsb right now. Going from a 4.3 vortec to a mild built 5.7 vortec with belltech suspension. Wanted a budget build but it needs way more than expected haha. Keep the OG seats
Stoked to see you startin on Cookie Monster. My next acquirement is gonna be a OBS Gmc shortbed or a 99to06 shortbed. I Love my 5.3 swapped 82 but im just wanting to get Into something a little newer. See anyone looking its for sale in Kentucky. Solid Texas truck with inspection stickers from 04 and 14 in the windshield. Patina style truck.
Hey would you be interested in selling those TMI seats that you took out of your OBS??? I have been working on a 1969 Chevy K30 and have definitely been looking for a good set of low back buckets for my truck so that the passenger doesn’t have to eat the dash every time they ride with me!!! Yes I’m definitely a shorter guy and always have the seat pushed all the way forward so everything is nice and comfortable when driving but it can definitely be hard on the passengers with the bench seat pushed all the way forward plus with the bench seat pushed all the way forward it puts just enough pressure on the 4x4 shifter and will cause it to pop out when running in 4HI!!! I definitely didn’t want to spend new prices on a set before finding out how they might work for me??? With your seats being a brown in color would definitely work out great along with the low backs on the seats!! I definitely didn’t want a seat where they would be up in the back window either!!! Let me no if you would be willing to sell them and what state you are in??? I’m in southern Iowa and I am willing to drive a little ways if the price is right??? Awesome video buddy!!! Oh I also have a buddy I no that has been working on a couple different OBS trucks and he loves them also!!!
Hey man! Somebody already got those buckets off of me. I know that Slosh Tubz sells new bucket frames you might be able to use. Plus they are a lot closer in NW Arkansas.
At least it was on top of the carpet amd probably fused. I found 3 under the carpet, hot, and un fused when I pulled the carpet. One of them was lampcord.
My guy...@16:26 pretty much sums up what "peeling back the curtains" is like on "CooCoo" Monster. Hahaha Hoping you get it all sorted without too much frustration though! I look forward to the progress.
Cookie Monster OBS Chevy kustom pickup going amazing fun project for u ( Yeah Buddy Garage) in 2024 agree original buckets & manual transmission winning combination but electrical work seems like not experience job.
Actually love the bed lifter and cab lifter. Great thinking to do things basically by yourself. With a lil help from the family. Can't wait to see the progress on the truck and a higher quality. Does not surprise me with how sneaky and dodgy most show trucks and cars are built. Look good on the surface but peel the layers back and complete crap.
1 of the main issues w obs trucks is interior trim parts especially American made. The parts companies should really step up the parts game, every thing regarding obs trucks seems a bit harder but dang they look nice....good luck should be a good build to follow.
So I watched the “how to build an obs in 9 minutes” video and they showed themselves installing a brand new Phoenix transmission. Is that the same transmission that you had to have rebuilt as soon as you got the truck?
Yes sir the same one. Thankfully it didn't have to be rebuilt just had a few things done to finish up the install and make sure there weren't any burnt clutches.
Are you talking about the interior or exterior trim? LMC truck sells new dashes or you might be able to find a good donor truck to get interior parts from. I have a guy local to me that gets all kinds of OBS parts so I always hit him up when I need something.
It's so hard for me to tear apart a decent truck to rebuild... I am better with just replacing what is needed as needed... but if I do a motor, I will usually paint underhood and clean up... if I do interior I will pull apart and replace... I have tore stuff down and just never got back together. Perfect is boring to me, too many careless people out there.
To lift the bed, 4 ratcheting straps connected to each corner and tied to the hook in the middle works great. Make the straps towards the cab a few inches shorter.
After years of rebuilding other people's quality workmanship like this truck lol makes me glad I spent all the money on an original low mileage grandpa truck
Nothing better than an all original truck to keep original or to start a build with.
@@yeahbuddygarage I definitely haven't kept it stock lol
On point, man. Love it. It's the year of the OBS!
You know it!
GMT400
It's amazing how nice that truck looked before you started pointing out all the messed up issues. Great video!
OG buckets all day everyday my friend.
OG buckets all day everyday!!!
Been waiting on cookie to come back to the channel!!!

I didn't realize this was a magazine project/build. It's disappointing that they took no pride in their workmanship.
ive been working on a extended cab short bed 96 c1500 for about a year now. Ive been looking hard for a single cab 90-94 to off the chassis restore. Glad i found your channel.
Really enjoyed watching. Crazy all the little things you’re finding. See you at Bama. Bringing the big truck from C10
Loved seeing your boy on the cherry picker!
Crazy how much stuff is not done correctly, because on video that thing looks mint! Keep up the content bud! 👍
ever since i got my dually i been thinking about doing a quick frame of resto clean up & this use of a engine hoist is brilliant
Like the appearance of those TMI seats, and they may clean easier but comfort counts! Thanks for saving this " quickie" build and restoring quality.

I know exactly what wire you're talking about. I didn't realize that had to be grounded to shut the truck off. Good to know!
The og buckets for sure bro!!! Love this channel!

@yeahbuddygarage haha yup but will be worth it in the end. Can't wait for the finished results!

At least lmc makes a dash for these years I’m waiting for one for the 1997 good content love your vids keep up the good work
Yes sir they are pretty nice. I put one in my 93 dually. The used to make a round dash but stopped carrying them for some reason
Hopefully somebody makes the round ones again they will make a mint
U made that look easy nice work
Awesome work
Love the content. I’ve been working on my own obs build. Planning to debut it on the GM Tailgate Tour
Hope to see it there! I'll be on the tour with the Blazer 😎
Nice truck brother
Nice progress!! Sucks you had to find all those wiring issues though, electrical can be a nightmare.
I put NBS seats in my OBS. I absolutely love them. I almost made the mistake of buying aftermarket seats.
Those NBS seats are super comfortable!
@@yeahbuddygarage very.
Cookie crumbs now 😂. Definitely run the OE seats, can't wait to see the build come together.
🤣🤣
OG seats for sure!

I have never sat in tmi seats... in my 84 k5 I have 03 silverado leather seats.
Love it!!!

The OG are quite comfortable I have a 89 OBS and I have a 99 and I wish the 89 had the same seats in it my 89 has the bench seat
You said roll pan was going bye bye .. I said Subscribed! 😂
😂😂
TMI looks so good but og is soooo comfy
Its Project Playboy from the Motortopia Chanel

gonna watch this build from the beginning and I was like why is he taking it apart.......... now we know! lol
OG Bucket Rules!!!
What size wheels are those , n backspace
These are 19s up front and 20s in the rear but I'm not sure of the backspacing. Street Trucks did a custom order from Schott wheels
It's hard to believe that "Street Trucks" magazine did such a half assed job on this truck...smh
A lot of work but done the right way no corners cut here 💪
I got a 97 ext cab, do people take out all the trim cuz I hate the color and underneath it’s black for me.
I would love to get new trim but i can never find them, that and a dash kinda sucks

@@yeahbuddygarage interior , I’ll def check there , im just glad the og seats are in good shape in my truck 😂
Scary finding what other people have worked on and how they leave it.
Will Cookie Monster be done in time for tailgate tour?
No sir I will probably be in the blazer for that one if I can get it sorted out. Had some issues on the last roadtrip with it.
@@yeahbuddygarage that’s a sharp blazer. Looking forward to seeing it.
You should manual swap it back. Already set up for it just need the trans again
would you consider selling me the tmi buckets and center console? im here in florida also. got a black 92 these would look decent in.
im near oldsmar area
Nice! Somebody already came and got em. Sorry man!
yea i need some grey buckets then! lol
OG Buckets for me
And watching you do the inside is why I don't want to do anything with the inside of my blazer. The pieces are really hard to find.
Yes sir they are very difficult to find. I luckily have an OBS parts dealer local to me. He finds all the good stuff!!
Tmi all the way
You crazy for trading TMI seats for stocks
They just don't do it for me for some reason. I'd rather have OG or custom
My 94 has same screw though cab lol
So it must be factory! 😂 Honestly I'm not never sure why it's there. The screw head was covered by sound deadener
@@yeahbuddygarage must be lol my extended can step side is almost same color as well

Solid vid. While Cookie is getting torn down can you swap the wheels to the c10
I wish!! I hate the wheels on the c10 but they are 6 lug. I got something in the works though 😎
@@yeahbuddygarage is forgot the c10 is 6 lug.
Is that not project playboy truck ???
It is! Or, it was. Had to change the name to keep it PG. lol
Interior plastic was junk when they were new. They didn't age well either. The one thing a square body had over the obs.
Absolutely! The most stressful part of redoing any OBS is messing with original interior pieces. I need to do another squarebody build.
I literally seen the video of them “fixing” it
To lift the bed, 4 ratcheting straps connected to each corner and tied to the hook in the middle works great. Make the straps towards the cab a few inches shorter.
You must not have a HOA or they're fairly lenient!!!!
The people that rebuild your truck, half fast it they didn’t take their time on it
There is no way they have a HOA!
id rather have comfort or style, man the money you spent to buy that truck just to have so many issues had to suck
I'ma bench guy my self
I found a bench and was thinking about it! Decided to go with buckets since this is more of a sporty truck but I do love a bench seat myself.
