I drive my 91 K1500 from North Dakota to Seattle every six months to see family. I built the engine which is a 355 now, and she has a 2500 rear end. These trucks are reliable asf.
I have tried to sleep at rest stops when I moved from Florida to North Carolina. First time I slept for maybe two hours before they started changing a semi tire next to me. Second time I had a semi truck air tank relief valve pop off and woke me out of a dead sleep. The last time I had a guy banging on my window at 2:45 am. Dog went crazy and I slipped it into drive and drove off. No more rest stop sleeping for me 😁 Thanks for taking us along. Have a safe trip.
Thankfully I had none of those issues but I can 100% see where things can go south quickly. I think the next trip I'm going to find a better place to rest.
I'm really hoping to do the hrpt in spring of 24 with my lowered turbo 94 blazer. Watching videos like this gets me more excited to go every time I see one. May the rest of your trip be gremlin free!
I hope you do it! We will be out there for the '24 power tour just not sure what I'm driving yet. I think the HRPT is my favorite vehicle event of all time. There's nothing else like it.
This is beyond phenomenal !!!! I appreciate you sharing your experience and allowing me to live it thru your lens. How I wish I could do a cross country trip. Great job Josh!!!!
Mannnnnnnnnnn. Watching this made me miss my vacation from a few years ago. From Georgia we flew out to Arizona and drove up to Montana, checking out a few well known spots along the way. The sites and the experiences were a solid BEST TRIP EVER! This video brought that feeling back!!
Just watched ur video heck yeah man I know you had a blast on the open road I was thanking about driving from Texas to Dino's myself keep up the videos
Great Meeting You Today Josh at Dino's Git Down. Thanks for the tips on improving my TH-cam Channel and it is always great to catch up with another road warrior! I look forward to seeing you again Tom.
GREAT VIDEO !!! Just couldn’t stop watching, had to see ya make it to Arizona….. I spent about four months out in Scottsdale many years ago ….. cleanest city I’d ever been to , I left just as the monsoon season was kicking off ….. have a great time , be safe .. and looking forward for more videos
Have a safe trip out west (Yeah Buddy Garage) for Hot Rod West series & those chicken fajitas with peppers is up my alley also OBS dually running amazing with new upgrades
This was my first year at Dino’s. We drove from northern Colorado, it’ll be an annual trip from now on, but I’m a born n raised Florida boy. I love the Daytona truck meet… until it was banned. Lol
Great video! Love traveling too! Drove from western Pa to Tucson in '21. Would love to take my dually the whole length of route 66 someday. Gotta figure out a vibration above 65mph first.
Bummed I missed ya! I live in Fort Stockton right in between El Paso and San Antonio. Building a bagged 98 Chevy dually. Was shooting to get it done by Dino’s to make the drive, but I couldn’t cut it 😭. Hope to catch you on the highway on your way back! If not hopefully at Dino’s next year! 28:24
Honest truth, following i10 aka the coast thru Louisiana into Texas is a huge waste of time, I did that one time only. next time jump up from mobile to meridian ms and catch i20 west, or from blioxi up to Jackson and catch i20. Better roads and traffic and you are done with LA in @ couple hours instead of 4-5.
I've done Toledo Ohio to Houston Texas non stop, that was the longest I've done, I was the only driver, but the girlfriend was with me. Props to you man that's a long haul by yourself in a 30 year old truck.
Me and my brother quit a roofing job in Pensacola (from Orlando woke up at 5 quit at 3 took a nap at a gas station or something in a 91 1500 had ac so left it running 😂😂 got a couple hours of rest got home at like 8 then I went to port st John for another few hours didnt get home till like 6am
Next day I'm finishing the video, but I had a thought and you may have done it.but a list of items you took on your trip(that grille to start off with 😉)
Man that's a great idea for a video. I think I can put together a list of must haves on cross country road trips like this. Thankfully I didn't need to get into any of the tools. lol
I enjoyed riding with you from my computer. The scenery is awesome man. Get you some hose clamps and double up the trans cooler line splice. Put the second clamp on backwards to the other. Think of this like a push and pull set up. I was taught this in the early 90's by an old mechanic. Just open up the clamp till it's apart and slip it over. Feed it back in and tighten. This way there's no removal of the hose to make a mess. It's really just a back up (fail safe). I know you're an avid wrencher yourself but someone else may read this and find it helpful. I cannot wait till the next video. This one was fun.
That would be an awesome drive! I have a feeling the Power Tour will end up in your neck of the woods this year. I use the DJI Wireless Mic. For cameras if I'm at a show or road tripping i use my iPhone but I usually use my Canon R6 with the 15-35mm lens when I'm working in the garage.
That stretch for San Antonio to Arizona has nothing most of the time. Just views of giant dirt and rock piles. 😂 used to deliver motor homes and fifth wheels to casa grande for middle of Texas . Pilot folks are great and honest. Buddy left wallet with 800$ in it they put it in safe til we could turn around and go back to get it 1hr plus away.
Great trip. We took a family vacation earlier this year in our static dropped(belltech) 99 chevy #obssuburban. Has neen our most epic road trip so far. The trip was from Ohio to Texas for lonestar throwdown .
In 2017 when I was getting out of army I was stationed n El Paso I got about 8 hours away moving back to South Carolina and blew the engine up in my 97 k3500. Was middle of oil rush couldn’t find a hotel and was stuck living in truck until my wife could come get me
DOOOO IIIITTTT!! If you have a stock drivetrain just make sure to have an extra ignition coil, ignition control module and make sure you have a solid/ reliable fuel pump. Other than this these old OBS trucks will run forever!
@@yeahbuddygarage aslong as they're taken care of hell yeah! I have a 96' ext cab 5.0 with 617k miles on the original motor and rebuilt trans it runs smooth i love it.
I done 8 hours of driving today an I had to stop about every 2.5 hours to stretch an walk around an I’m whooped I can’t handle all that driving like I used too 15 years ago I’d probably take a trip like u but not no more lol
Well I know you made it to Arizona because my brother seen you on the freeway and a few hours later you drove right past my house 😂 showering for Dino's 👍
if you ever take up BJJ my son and I will do a cross country BJJ tour with you! by the way get your boys in judo and BJJ, you'll never regret it! My mom got me in judo when I was five years old and it's been 55 years now! All my five sons h as ve done it but my next to youngest son still il going strong at twenty years in judo and BJJ. He has been in BJJ for almost 17 years now! love your channel brother! love Chevys, and a few dodge's a as well! keep up the good work!!!

That’s a bucket list drive for me, one day!!
I’ve stopped at that rest stop! got a great pic of my e34 wagon with those rocks in the background @33:07
Man that's awesome! For the locals I'm sure it's nothing but if you're not used to it that makes an awesome backdrop.
Might want to look into a fiberglass tonneau top (over the rail) to help with the tailgate. Or...replace the latches. The guy waving @24:00 😁😂
Lol I saw that too!! He had me crackin up.

I just drove 2404 miles in my 65 C10 in less than a week. From Maine to the fall revival and back. I saw your truck there.
Man that's awesome! I want to do a road trip up to Maine. My wife went there this summer and said it was beautiful.

Dang man! That's terrible. Thank you for your service.
Pay the 10 bucks and stay at camp sites. Most of them even have showers. Plus there safe!
Good morning you does do boats like flying sparks
I plan on doing boats in the future since we're so close to the coast and I used to build them years ago.
I wish we knew each other. You could have picked me up in alabama and I would have loved to go with you.
Could always put a gear vendors on it, if you drive that far frequently it'll pay for itself in no time
Keep going all the way to Alaska. Jersey Mikes here for a sub.
