EMOTIONAL TRAUMA KEEPS YOU STUCK AFTER A NARCISSIST

  • In this video Anoushka explores how trauma from a toxic relationship can keep you emotionally stuck, as it often leaves deep psychological scars that distort your sense of self-worth and reality. In such relationships, manipulation, emotional abuse, or neglect can create patterns of fear, insecurity, and self-doubt. Even after leaving the relationship, these patterns persist, making it difficult to trust others or even yourself. The trauma can trigger feelings of shame, anxiety, or depression, leading to a cycle of rumination over the past and fear of future relationships. This emotional paralysis can prevent you from moving forward, healing, and rebuilding a healthy sense of identity. Healing from trauma requires time, self-compassion, and often professional support to break free from the lingering effects of the toxic relationship.

Emotional trauma from a narcissist isn't just a wound; it’s a prison that keeps you chained long after they’re gone. Every lie, every manipulation, every betrayal becomes a ghost that haunts your mind, replaying the hurt on a loop you can’t escape. My wife’s relentless deceit over 25 years has left me stuck in a cycle of distrust and emptiness, like fighting shadows in the dark. The damage isn’t just in what they did; it’s in how they rewired your perception of love, safety, and self-worth, trapping you in a labyrinth of pain where moving on feels impossible.

It does and can keep you in their grasp, metaphorically. But self awareness, thru self reflection, can help a person understand themselves enough to separate from their wounds/repetitive negative thoughts. Trust ur instincts, ur intuition as u navigate thru life. There’s deception out here but also genuineness. Many times, both those traits will be displayed by the same person. But whatever someone else does isn’t because of who YOU are, only cus who THEY are

When you talked about the feeling of "not being able to trust anyone" - THAT IS REAL - I've been away from my ex, who I think is a Narcissist for almost 10 months now and I REALLY DID have that feeling for quite a while. It's a feeling I'll NEVER forget, and I think it's your body's way of saying that you need to be WAY MORE CAREFUL in who you allow in your life.

There is another thing that happened to me and I believe it's related to this video. I was dumped by my ex in early December of 2023 and I saw her in person for the last time on New Year's Eve - not even a month later. This is NO JOKE - my body actually started SHAKING for a few minutes. She noticed that I was VISIBLY shaking and with a quite non-concerned tone of voice she had THE NERVE to ask me, "Why are you shaking?" I was with her for 7 and a half years and I was basically discarded, blocked, ghosted and stonewalled with NO EXPLANATION for that whole month - she had just run away and didn't answer my calls or messages. THAT IS ABUSE and THAT was my body reacting to it.

I taught martial arts; muscle memory is developed by practicing repeatedly. I've been in Dialectic Behavioral Therapy and emotional regulation is developed by practicing repeatedly, especially when not in an excited state.❤

Finding a emergency exit sign and running outside is the goal. Then as we get free we soon remember that we were in that building for reasons. We went inside to get out of a bad neighborhood. Back to square one. But a little smarter. Yeah it hurts. Got scorched. Lost friends and possibly family. Probably lost money and even worse, time. I know that I did. But maybe the learning was necessary. Hope I don't go in circles.

■Trauma stays stuck in the body. Yes. BREATH WORK releases it BUT it is very emotionally dysregulating.
