Incredible amount of detail without overdoing it or talking in circles. Very easy to understand, was going to skip tearing into my son's & just buy a new one but not before I go through this one. Ethanol has to be the culprit of my issues.
Well I hope it helps it’s better to tough through it now and learn it and be able to use that information a 100 times down the road. Hope it helps Steve.
Hey Stevie I’m having trouble with my bike same Honda 100xr 2002 I took it off to clean it and gas keeps leaking out from the air filter,I checked my floater and needle all seems to be working good not sure what else to do
Hey man I am working on the same bike with the same carb. I got it all cleaned with a whole new Japanese carb kit but when I run the bike it will on idle with choke on and it smokes a good bit as well. Could you enlighten my numb skull on how to tune the carb after setting the air fuel mixture to 2 turns out? I live in Ohio I’m not sure if we’re close in sea level but Im going to move mine to 2 turns out and see how it runs. It’s currently at 1.25 turns out
2 turns out it a good place to start but you’ve still got a blockage in the slow speed / idle circuit. You need to check the slow speed/pilot jet and make sure the port from the jet the card bore is clear, also make sure the air vents coming from the air filter side air bell of the card are clear . (2small hole in the carb bell and the small holes in the side of the pilot jet) Hope it helps.
Hi thanks! What kind of fuel do you use to get that dirty inside of the carburetor, E10? Ethanol? How many engine hours / miles since last carburetor service? What is the stock jets and which one you run now? Did you have run any time a 'plug chop' to select what main jet to use? Do you know size of your throttle bore in millimeters? Regards from soth america!
Hey Rafael, I didn’t check jet sizes or do plug chops because it was just a case of getting running right for the new owner. The bike was almost new with very few hours on it, plus the new owner is a friends wife just to trail ride on it. It could have been jetted up one or two sizes maybe but the owner is going jet the bike as needed. I believe that the fuel in this bike was E10 but I’m sure this one had some water in the bowl to cause this corrosion.
Mine was missing the spring and flat washer on the fuel mixture screw. I re-assembled from a new kit in this order: spring, rubber washer, flat washer. Is this correct?
Thanks. I was able to change it easily. Also had to replace the cracked carb manifold and install the new idle needle. Runs pretty good now. Thanks for your help/video@@generalprinciple5921
You lost me at the end with the clear tube float bowl check. Fuel will not exit into the clear tubing until it goes up over the top of the overflow tube inside the bowl. I am guessing we need to loosen the screw on the outside of the bowl where the clear tube is connected to allow gas to escape at the bottom of the bowl.

Glad you liked it!
took the air fuel piece out and didnt notice the spring right away, couldnt find where the hell its supposed to go. youre the man!
Well… I’m glad it helped.
very, very good description and detail in this video. No BS talking just very good informative dialogue, take notes other youtubers.
Weeell I’m glad it was of some use and thank you . Good luck.
The wires pulled out of a common wire brush work great also to clean out the holes on the jets
Yes sir I use that a lot. Thank you
Great video, just been trying to set up the carb but didn't know about checking the airways. Will get it stripped down and checked out. Thanks

Thank you!! Couldn't have fixed it without you!

Best video on carb info for these xr100’s! Btw you’re missing the float bowl gasket.
Hey thx ! That gasket is there. Great little bikes.
Great explanation of these rather simple Carbs!
Thanks bro!👍💪💥🧨
You bet! I hope it helped.
just got one of these bikes with carb issues. Even though the jets are cheap, Gonna try cleaning first. very helpful.
Great!good luck.
You are a good mechanic Stevie🐮

@@Jsonshotit if it’s leaking out the air filter it’s definitely most likely passing the needle and seat. If it’s a plastic float those can warp.
We have this exact same bike and carb. What’s the black hose on side of the carb for and where does to go ? Ours is completely missing it
That is just a vent hose for when you tip your bike over fuel goes out the hose and onto the ground instead of the bike

CalQwax yes that is correct you must loosen the screw. It finds the float level in the bowl and tell you exactly where the level is.
