I’d argue the GBC version is even better than the original PS1 version, which is basically unplayable due to its difficulty. Developers themselves stated they never even tested the game, and you can really tell. The gbc version is way more fair.
This port of Rayman 1 is kinda underrated, I don’t know why, either people thought it wasn’t good enough of a port, but either way it’s pretty well done

These were childhood favorites of mine. I like that they're not hard... great for kids and handheld gaming (often shorter gaming sessions). I think they truly are solid GBC games, especially for their time.
I just found out that there are Rayman games for GBC. I have a "complete ROM set" and they were not in there (now they are). I wonder how many games I still miss.
I've downloaded some of those "complete" ROM sets in my time. They sometimes fail to include even the most popular ones, so I wouldn't trust them to actually be complete if I were you haha

The visuals aren't as bad as I thought it would be but the music is obviously the best part of the games. Also I like the little skits (if that's the word) that you did, theyre funny XD keep it up!

It's not *the worst* and except the one song that has that ear-destroying long high-pitched tone I think they're handled about as well as could be expected. It just kinda annoys me that they opted to use Rayman 2 music for the Rayman 1 game
Probably because they definitely don't look like fairies in that one picture they're shown. I had no idea until I read your comment, I just thought it were some kinda of energy inside the balls or something haha
I remember getting the first gameboy game on my red 3DS back in 2012. I loved the music and how the game was beatable without freeing the electoons compared to the console counterpart. But looking at it now 9 years later, its good i think but some of the music can repeat so much and some of the platforms are a bit tricky to land on. Although i like how you actually fight Mr. Dark instead of a "boss rush" against bosses you already beaten. The second game i have never played since it wasn't released back on the 3DS Virtual Console Eshop. Good job on the video! I know i'm late but keep on the good work!
I know the music isn't great, but I dont think it's THAT bad. I found the actual melodies, harmonies, and rhythms compelling, and I was willing to forgive the limitations of the hardware. What does disappoint me about the music in Rayman 2 is they took the intros out of all of the tunes. Great review, though! I am playing it up a bit for the video of course, and I'm sure the music isn't THAT bad when played through an original GBC speaker, but hearing them loop again and again and again while outputting through the portable speaker I hooked up to my 3DS while recording the footage made me develop a small distaste for it lol. Might as well take a look at Donald Duck GBC as it is basically Rayman with a different main char. Just take a look at the final level, that level is basically Rayman.
The Sonic spinball options ost is the worst one in my opinion. It scratches my ears...that's why I never go to the options menu when playing Sonic spinball 😅

I had this and bought it when it came out. I thought the graphics were incredible for the time. GBC was such an awesome handheld in 1998-99.
