  • I had to paint/treat some rough sawn planks for use on my cart lodge. I had already painted 2 by hand a week ago and wished I just got my Erbauer HVLP out, so when it came to doing the rest...here's what happened! Dan was saying nahhh just paint it with a paintbrush and so, the speed challenge was born!
Unfortunately I can't find the listing for this spray gun anywhere, but the Sealey HVLP Spray Gun Kit 700W / 230V (Paint Lacquer Stains Preservatives BDS21) is exactly the same, just a different colour. Here's an affiliate link below:

Spraying does tend to get more product on, I wouldn't say its 3 times more though. It's about 50% more than brushing

Six paint brushes would have changed the odds.

Are these spray guns any way good for glossing doors? Will the finish be good enough? Thanks

I haven't done it personally but I've seen reviews where people have. The thing is you have to thin the paint down quite a lot so you don't get much coverage based on my experience of using it with both oil and water based paint. It worked quite well when I used thinned down red oxide but not so great with water based acrylic. So overall, yes it's possible and with abit of patience you could get an OK finish. However, with a single stage hvlp it's probably not worth it. It really depends how much you intend to use it and what for. I'm after a 4 stage hvlp now as I'll be spraying a metal security door soon and then all of my woodwork. The more stages the more turbines and the thicker the paint you can use. You could probably pick up a 2nd hand apollo 3 stage hvlp that would do the trick quite well for you, or you can hire one maybe?
