- In Part Two of this series, Pat Cummins and Australia take a trip to familiar territory to face down an old cricket enemy to defend their grip on the Ashes. It was billed as one of the most anticipated ashes series in a long time, but there was nothing that would get us ready, for the drama, controversy and all the action, that would be witnessed by these two cricket titans facing off. Easily the best test series of the year.
Part one (2023: Australia's Baptism of Fire): • 2023: An Ashes series ...

No mention of Nathan Lyon's injury? Was a huge blow to Australia's bowling attack...
I thought it was a huge turning point.
If Lyon wouldn't have been injured Aus would have won at leeds
This was a massive blow to Australia, significantly weakening the bowling attack
Yes it was. But that shouldn't be an excuse for a team like Australia for losing the series(let's be honest they would've lost the drawn match if rain hadn't interrupted) after being 2-0 up.
@@Sunny-sc5vq agreed but have a bowler like Lyon taken out of such a sorted attack has its downside remember the Aussie test side that ur talking about especially away relies a lot on Lyon their pace attack gets neutralized in away conditions like on spin wkts in bgt but Lyon is their trump card that works both home and away I think one point was Steve smith's and Marnus form their dismissals always put aussies in trouble not to mention the wkts weren't quintessential English wkts bcz if they were bazball would've drowned on its own turf
Best cricket content provider ever. Period. This ashes was one of the best test series on the modern era. Happy Retirement to Broady!
Yeah but this does not even come close to 2005 one best ashes to this day modern era can only dream to witness such though gabba might be close but Flintoff in its peak was iconic
@@ahmedkhizar5908 I did mention "one of the best". 2005 Ashes was the best indeed.
Australia was on their peak but the quartet of Harmison, Jones, Hoggard, Freddie 😮
Couldn't agree more
was a great series. Shame about the ball replacement. At the lease the Carey stumping was actually the players involved, not an official doing their job poorly
@@js2188 True that. Otherwise the consequences 🙀
This guy makes test matches, which many call boring, sound so fun and eventful.
Tbh 2023 Ashes was anything but boring.
Well yeah, 'cause it's quick, unlike Test matches
I love test matches,it's a pity pyjama T20's attract more money and crowd but I'm a bit old school
@@edgedandcaught I would love it if all formats wore the white garments
This ashes was so dramatic in real life 😅
Australia's journey this year has been nothing short of an inspiration. Pat Cummins and co have been so clinical. Love your content ❤️
Best cricket commentary channel ever.
i like him too
100% agreed. Ashes rivalry deserves a movie and a TV series. There's one called Bodyline series. We need more like that. 🏴🇦🇺 Ashes will always be my favorite
That Bodyline TV series from 1984 was one that took the truth, facts and real events...and threw them in the trash. It was a disgrace.
There was a 3 part series about the Ashes called Forged in Fire, and it was riveting viewing.
Oh, I've been waiting for this since I finished part 1. Amazing content, as always!
same
Absolutely loving this little docu-series mate. Its so interesting to look back on this ashes series and realise it really was one of the greats. Every test match bar the 3rd test at Headingley could have gone either way with a little bit of luck or a missed chance taken by either side. I especially remember watching the 5th test match and being equally frustrated and enthralled by the ebbs and flows of the game. Forgetting the controversial ball change, Australia should have been in a far better position in that 4th innings chase if they had taken their chances in England's 1st innings, and really, having Head and Smith at the crease batting well, and only needing 120 runs with 6 wickets in hand, you'd expect Australia to get over the line. But wasn't to be...
Great video as usual legend,
The Lyon injury and fatigue got us in the end.
I Followed every single game Of this australian team in 2023
And man what a journey it was ❤❤❤
loving this series so far and cant wait for the final part. i remember sitting in my room at like 2 am watching that final day of the lords test and was that an entertaining final day. i remember i had the win predictor up during this time too and the way that swung back to australia was the happiest i felt in a while. the drama and suspense of that final day at lords will never be matched, nor will the drama of that ashes series. im sure that (while recency bias may play into this) this was one of the best ashes series we've had of all time.
cant wait for the final cwc part as i am interested to see your take on some of the things that happened like maxwells 200, or zampas heroics with the ball
I agree
Another great one!
You have such a wonderful storytelling capability, I look forward to many more such videos. Keep up the fantastic work.
I am an Indian but i have always loved Australian cricket ❤❤i am not a traitor but i don't know why since i have started watching cricket i have loved the aussies playing❤❤
Same bro but people call me traitor 😭

I’m Scottish and a started watching cricket while in prison in 2006 the ashes series and I’ve never missed one after that. Before 2006 I always said cricket was shite but a love it now. It’s only Australia I watch tbh. Don’t like any other team and I can’t stand England in any sport. This is quality pal. You really are good at narrating these long videos ✌️
Wow I live in Glasgow, Scotland. Very rare to see some lad from Scotland watching and appreciating cricket. Would be glad to meet you one day
Outstanding content, thank you mate.
Love the video mate, love reliving this, very special series! Keep it up!
Great job man. You almost made me relive this brilliant series. Always a pleasure to see you on my feed. 🇳🇵🇳🇵
Great series. Waiting for part 3
Now, I know where the comment came from. "'Nothing more satisfying than hearing a big crowd go silent" Pat Cummins. Australia was already prepared for such scenario.
39:10 You Rightly Said about the glimpses 😂 but adding with you my thoughts about the high hopes on which withstanding is way more challenging and difficult to overcome fear of failure
Wonderful presentation,mate!👏👏👏
This and the first part too, can't wait for the final part!
Amazing series! Just waiting for part 3
Absolutely fantastic work yet again! Cannot wait for the next episode in the Cummins saga
Digging the videos mate. Can’t wait for your final video in the “baptism by fire” saga
Amazing content brother keep it up. And a lots of love from India.
excellent video. Been binge watching your channel ever since the discovered it. Hope you'll also do one for the India Aus BGT gabba series.
This is fantastic content for a cricket fan. Got a new subscriber here.
Love it. keep up the good work
I’m glad you showed the footage of how hypocritical England’s winging about the bairstow dismissal. I’m still furious about how they still keep wining about it
Best cricket doco's by a mile.
One thing I like here is , eventhough you are an Australian you are not biased! Just a true cricketing fan ❤❤
Iam Eagerly Waiting for Part3, A Journey from Bottom of the Table to becoming champions, 6th Time on tne Trot🎉

I love the intro that you give!
The build up is amazing 👏
Man you are bloody awesome! Very good analysis
excellent narration ....eagerly waiting for part 3...your channel provides some great cricket content...keep going...superb work
Great storytelling as usual, but I thought Nathan Lyon's injury was worth a mention.
Amazing videos, keep it up!
Incredible video, incredible channel. Keep it up
yet another great video!! can't wait for next one!!!
bro your documentaries are one of the BEST if not THE BEST
you videos are amazing bro sendjng love from south africa
Your videos are epic
Another great vid, mate. Doing the Lord's work.
best video I have ever watched. Best criket video evr
For us, Australia getting Bairstow out like that at Lord's fired us up. The following 2 test matches showed that. The behaviour of the members in the long room towards the Australian players was disgusting though. You can't do that.
A batter getting out to a fair dismissal fires you up
@@marchy00zeroit was in the laws of the game, yes, but I guarantee that if England had claimed the same dismissal against an Australian batsman, the fall out would have been 10 times worse.
I still find it funny how Aus was, according to the crowd, cheating but was playing to the rules that England wrote and created 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Astonishingly Documented Voice is quite soothing as well 👍👍
I was there at the Oval on Day 5. I’ll never forget what I witnessed that day
stokes trying to take higher moral ground. after king hitting someone. ok mate. loved the analysis very high class.
King hitting someone then lying about what happened, you should read the court transcripts,
he is a disgrace.
Agreed. Pot, kettle.
You are an exceptional story teller mate.
Great review of a great series
The Manchest test still hurts... we would have won that by a MILE had it not been for the bloody weather. rrrrrr. Still i guess had Lyon been fit the Aussies would have had a way stronger attack so i guess we'll call it even. Great vid as always
Excellent video.
Love from Pakistan

great stuff mate!
great work man.
I still think Smith is a better captain on the field but nobody can deny it’s been one of the best ever years for Australian cricket. Another fantastic video, keep going!
Days are boring without Ashe's ❤❤
SOOOOO bloody good
I agree that the Carey wicket should’ve been out Merv said it best when he called Piers a hypocrite & both the underarm ball & the Bairstow incident were out even Whitehead who’s a English man playing footy over here said it was out by his celebration
So Not gonna mention mo batting at 3? Also stokes texting mo 'ashes?'.. that was one the coolest shit happened in ashes in my opinion..
Ahh finally Part 2.
Great video - however Lyons injury was also a big factor
The ashes was crazy
Dude just release all 3 parts😂 together… been waiting for the videos
starc and cummins here makes me happy 20:15
Great vid.The one thing you did miss tho was Nathan Lyon's injury. Australia did not win a game in this series without him.
As a neutral fan .....this was the best test series I've ever watched in my life
Hi mate @6ixandout
Where's the third installment of this series? Been waiting for a while now. Need your coverage on the Aussies' WC win!
waiting for part 3!!!
What a series this was
How can you miss, 🐐 Nathan Lyon's injury?
That was the turning point of the series.
The biggest rivalry ever
Wish you had given a little more time to talk about Marsh’s run-a-ball century considering it was his comeback game to the test side in an away ashes for such a maligned player it was pretty remarkable. Regardless, loved the video.
Can you put about Temba Bavuma batting and captaincy
Garry's calf blow-out was the turning point, criminal to not mention it 😢
The Pome barstad walked down the wicket to have a go at the Bowler
This year ashes was epic!
Captain Courageous Cummins
The Bairstow dismissal was not against ' the spirit of the game '. He shouldn't have been so absentminded.
Totally agree. The wicket got rid of the ball as soon as it hit his hand. Bairstow was still in the crease, and he just walked out, ball hits stump and its out.
That Ashes was probably the best in my lifetime, at least the equal of 2005
End of careers: Swann, Pietersen, Carberry, Bresnan, Panesar (and I think Trott left after the first Test). This is the English casualty list from that series, and some of those names are modern greats. All down to one man discovering his Mojo.
will there be a part 3 to this one
God the english carried on like pork chops during that whole series.
great channel mate!
Best series since 05
Your commnetary on how the series unfolded was excellent. But i thoight it was worth putting more of an emphasis on how the Bazall strategy went pear shaped for England in that firsr Test. They should have batted on and made 500. The way Root was batting, they would have gone close to that score.
That would have demoralised the Aussie side for that test and probably the series. Instead, the immaturity of that early declaration gave Australia a sniff, and we took it.
It is all well and good being aggressive, but you have to be smart at the same time. That declaration was really dumb.
Had that ball not been changed, we would've won the Ashes.
Smith and marnus cost the outright win throwing there wicket away in the 3rd test, not to mention losing Lyon. That ball change was an absolute joke
❤
You never made any depth to the WTC? It’s really important.
for the aussies its the ashes thats more important
@@reimu-ic6lz WTC defined quite a legacy that they’ll hold for quite some time.
@@cdn4767 that is true, but the rivalry between the two in the ashes is more important to people
Surprised you didn’t mention one huge moment in the series, namely the loss of Lyon
With Lyon fit Aussies would have won undisputedly, as the English thrived on too much similarity in the pace attack except for Stark. Baz is just a sook, couldn't get one over the Aussies as a player, nor as a coach. Broad is a legend.
Aus had a good chance until Lyon's injury and Smith injuring his wrist at Lords, he never batted the same after that (still seem to be out of rythm and fluency). Could have made the history. Though Eng did well to comeback from 0-2.
0:18 India didn’t re-gain BGT but retain it 😅😊
Bro i love your vidoes but the injury to Lyon was a huge omission
How do you even make this? In words of marnus " you are bowling "
