    Moroni understood the gospel, he understood the nature of man, he understood warfare and he understood politics. He sent out spies and asked the prophet about the movement of the Lamanites. He used the faculties of his mind that the lord gave him and trusted in the lord and went to his servant for advice/knowledge.

    Thank you Tyler for your valuable insights on the Book of Mormon! I am one of those who didn't get very much out of the war chapters in the past but you have enlightened my understanding of the importance of why they were included. I loved your comparison to the devil and how he tries to attack us but we have the Savior to help us fight those battles

    An interesting and exciting lesson! The war chapters weren’t so provocative to me previously. You made them come alive with the analogies you presented.. I don’t think there are any better chapters in the BOM that masterfully demonstrate how they can be so accurately likened to our present day world and country. Truly a “survival guide” for our time. Thank you for your diligent, thoughtful preparation of these lessons Brother Griffin. Studying with you this year has enriched and blessed my life in so many ways.

    Keep in mind how exasperated Moroni was from battles already with Lamanites including those under Zerahemna. By the time Amalickiah enters the scene, Moroni is rightly grieved. The rending of the garment in the Bible is known as Kriah (Hebrew) which means tearing. The custom of tearing or rending the outer garment is an external sign of grief. Captain Moroni has already experienced great losses to his armies and is now seeing the threat to liberty and right to worship. Grieved by these threats, he rends/tears (Kriah) his outer garment and thus creates his title of liberty to which his Nephite compatriots rally around.

    • @traczebabe
      @traczebabe หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Very well put. It makes me think we should all be rending our own clothes and rally around the Title of Liberty that Captain Moroni made. We are much in the same position. thank you, great comment.

    I believe that as we go through tough times and Jesus is there to hold our hand and/or say "I'll take care of it" and know how much He Loves us, and that Love we feel, we would walk through Hell for Jesus. It's those hard times that we turn to the Lord and He is there. And sometimes failing a test only makes us stronger the next time and determined and know that yes Jesus was there the whole time.

    I loved this. I am a basketball fan. They say that defense wins championships. On ESPN they typically show offense and little to no defense. I also love the thought of motivation. God's motivation is to help us grow, satan's plan is to oppress us and enslave us. These thoughts I will share when I teach this Sunday.

      That’s the Liberty Defense Charter we are endowed with and obligation. But the so called sensitive times they say we should only apply the spiritual aspect of the BoM- and so I am exactly with you on that topic. It is our duty to raise the Title of Liberty for the defense of God Liberty Family Religion and Country. I have been told that politics does not belong in the church. But the Book of Mormon is also the Book of Politics and Liberty. I am concerned about the fearfulness and apologetic demeanor the Saints display. Nephi didn’t apologize, nor did captain Moroni. We certainly are not bloodthirsty but I am heaping up the earth and build moats and trenches metaphorically spiritual and actual on addition to arming myself and my family appropriately spiritually and ACTUAL. And that is apparently at least in my Utah ward highly frowned on. Why? because they have apostatized from the Book of Mormon.

    I appreciated your teaching of the Book of Mormon. I am now on chapter 48 and you made it easy by giving the summary about the war. I like how you analyzed it by being between Christ and Satan with making choices. It is not always an easy place to be but with keeping the covenants with the Lord, it always work that the Lord wins the war. One reason why we tell our youths to Choose The Right. Whatever choices we make is where we determine to be. In truth, if Jesus Christ and Satan make choices for everyone there will be no need for judgement day. Jesus Christ and Satan will take the blame for our actions and behaviors. I love the Book of Mormon knowing it is true words of God. I do follow this Book of Mormon study.

    I have gone through a period where the Lord is teaching me. Content, especially consumed on TH-cam can be very dangerous. Especially gospel content, when not presented by true sources. I fell into a trap of going to the channels that seemed more interesting in their thumbnails, or well produced content, flashy. And they often spout opinions and theories from learned scholars or very switched on members. Not all of it is bad. But the Lord has been teaching me where to look for sources of truth and light, sources that don't have a motive of monetary incentive too. Not that that is inherently bad either. But prophets have nothing to gain, they get ridiculed. They are storing up treasures in heaven, not here. And that has shifted the way I consume content so drastically. I've turned away from flashy content with sometimes quite absurd content, you hebe to learn to discern. It is so easy to become tricked. This channel is one I feel directed to give attention too for real gospel learning as well as general conference talks and other talks from prophets and apostles.

    Need to remember warfare was in the preexistence and a necessity for proving we have kept our second estate. We encounter Ha Satan in the Temple, and need to learn how to recognize him, and discern what he is trying to do. Then, we make covenants that we will only follow Jesus the Christ. In doing so, we are clothed in garments of light; we feast with the Lord, and return with Him to the Father, to be joint heirs with Him.

    The lessons for our individual lives are great!
    Also, the parallels between the Nephites/Lamanites and Israel/Hamas are amazingly clear, yet I hear no mention of this on any platform.
    How could this be, so shortly after the prophet invited us to study the promises to the covenant children of Israel?
    "O ye Gentiles, have ye remembered the Jews, mine ancient covenant people? Nay; but ye have cursed them, and have hated them, and have not sought to recover them. But behold, I will return all these things upon your own heads; for I the Lord have not forgotten my people."
    - 2 Nephi 29:5
    How can we so easily forget the covenant children of Israel who are fighting for their lives and liberties in the covenant land of Israel?

    I hate it so much that you people are so blinded that you always try to teach us ”politics has no room in the church” and you always look or interpret “through the lens of” for a real history war and the very causes of it, and the destruction of or Holy Land of Promise and the Title of Liberty (for our day) , and intentionally negate neglect the active engagement in the defense of Liberty, God, Religion, Family and Country, saying it’s all a metaphor so you can fight spirituality. This war is spiritual as well as physical, that’s why Nephi killed Laban, that’s why Nephi’s admonitions to his brothers were hard in their sight, that’s why Nephi was frustrated about the wickedness about his own evil that so easily beset him 2 Nephi 4:19, but finds hope in Jesus, that’s why Captain Moroni killed 4000 kingmen. it is wickedness that you try to apologize for the the truth in from the book of mormon. Is it hard for you too to understand that the Book of Mormon is also a book of warfare instructions that also teaches us to defend our liberty with everything we have available. It’s time we call it what it is and live it.
