@JumalaPlays the new cast is fine but nobody tops the OG sixties cast. Carolyn Jones and Jon Astin defined Morticia and Gomez. Everyone else has tried to imitate their portrayals.

I remember reading an article years ago that marriage counselors were telling their patients to watch the Addams Family to learn what a healthy marriage looked like. That’s how inspiring the chemistry between Carolyn Jones and John Aston as a married couple was. 💞

A great actress. More recently, the singer Madonna also has had that natural ability to play completely different roles in her videos, from the Virgin to a witch, and all of them convincingly. In Jungian psychology it is called the Trickster archetype, with which some people are born, thus their ability to transform themselves rather astoundingly.

I loved it when Gomez called her Cara Mia ("my beloved"), and was driven wild by the slightest of her actions especially when she spoke French. I thought they were the sexiest couple on TV before I knew what sexy meant. Remember when he would kiss her arm up and down when she spoke French? Watching this video shocked me that the show was on for only 2 years. Carolyn wil never be forgotten as she was a beauty beyond the surface and a rare talent.

"The Addams Family" has long been one of my ten all-time favorite television series. But it's only in the past few years I've really become acquainted with the depth and breadth of Carolyn's work. If anyone has not yet seen the movie "Career" (also stars Shirley MacLaine in one of her earliest parts) - it's a lost gem, and Carolyn's performance in that was one of the finest I've ever seen by ANY actress. I so respect her work ethic and her professionalism - never a sloppy half-hearted performance by her even if it wasn't the best part or production. This was a wonderful, comprehensive tribute that I'm sure Carolyn would be thrilled to watch herself.

Her, Elizabeth Montgomery, Diana Rigg, Barbara Feldon, Barbara Eden, there were so many beautiful leading lady's back in the 60s. Those were the ones I had a crush on. Certainly one of the most iconic TV roles as Morticia. Also one of the most sublimely beautiful woman to grace the screen. Very well produced video about Carolyn. BTW, John Astin is still alive at the time of this writing (December 2021).

Incredibly Carolyn's tv husband Gomez (the older by a month, John Astin) has outlived her by 40 years. Only Wednesday is the other main character from Addams still alive.

Very thorough bio. It should be noted that the character and mannerisms of Gomez Adams was fashioned after Groucho Marx. The line producer was Nat Perrin, who wrote and produced for Groucho for years. John Aston, captured the sly mannerisms, and delivery perfectly to .form the character of Devilish Gomez. Together with Carolyn, Jones, they were my favorite TV couple.

Thank you for covering Carolyn Jones. One of my favorite actresses. Found out so many interesting things about her especially having been married and friends with Aaron Spelling. And love her as Morticia. Compared against the other two actresses up for that part, totally didn't fit at all. And the chemistry between her and John Austin was pure magic. 🥰

I loved this, thank you! My favorite stories of her came from Vincent Price. He said she was a delight to work with on House of Wax. When they went on tour to promote the movie, he quickly realized that in reality he had joined Carolyn and Aaron on their honeymoon.

Since I l loved The Addams Family as a kid (70 years old now), I’d always assumed the cast were beloved to me because of it. But the main characters drew me to whatever they performed in, and Carolyn Jones was the perfect Morticia. John Aston was her ideal spouse, and Ted Cassidy WAS Lurch. I appreciated him and all the others wherever I saw them, not ruling out Jackie Coogan, whom I already knew as an actor; why I didn’t mention him earlier. But no one EVER replaces Carolyn Jones in any role. ❤️

I LOVED the Addams Family & it’s still my favorite ever. I loved the sets and at 5&6 yrs old was redecorating our house - much to the surprise of my mum! I today am a designer and my house, and clients when they let me, is a beautiful collection of antiques, mounts, Persian carpets, plants, fabulous drapes, musical instruments & lots of oddities - all inspired at my young age devouring every minute of the show. I often wonder what it would have looked like in color! The series is so underrated- the acting, the persona and chemistry between Gomez & Morticia is unmatched, the writing clever, the characters, the names, the sets and music perfect. I record the shows now and still watch one a few times a week before bed - everything about it makes me happy, and Lord knows a sweet respite from our turbulent times is a good thing. Thanks so much for your video - more reasons to love it :)
