I’m a Brit living in the Philippines (not stranded) but the one thing I can tell you is that you absolutely cannot and should not rely on the U.K. government to help you. The FCO are utterly useless, devoid of compassion and bureaucratic beyond all measure.
Every other nation moves mountains for its citizens abroad but the U.K. has to be publicly shamed into action most times. It may be a good passport to have to travel with but in terms of consular support you are left high and dry. And in the case of flights chartered by U.K. Gov they are using them as a money making scheme ! contrast that with the German government and you realise why the U.K. wanted the herd immunity approach to dealing with Covid-19, because they lack any sense of humanity for its citizens and requires the least intervention.
Rest assured though, you’re safe here in the Philippines, there are no stronger or more generous people on earth that I would rather be around than Filipinos in a time of crisis. They are experts in dealing with disasters and they will see you through it no matter what.

Just dont be in major cities. The way of life and culture in there is much different from rural area. And dont worry about us filipino. As much as i hate to say it, we glorified foreigners more than our own countrymen. So foreigners would be most likely treated well.

I'm from Spain and been staying here (legally, due to work) in the Philippines for more than 6 months now. I'm worried how things are going around the world due to this pandemic but to tell you, I've been loving the Philippines so much. People are amazingly hospitable and generous and caring. Doctors and nurses here are amazing. Won't wonder many other countries wanted them so bad. I miss my family and hopefully, after this breakout, I'd be able to come home and share stories to my family and friends how the Filipinos helped me all through out this crisis.

I am a foreigner living in Palawan. Please, I ask that you all respect the quarantine laws, and the government in place overseeing this virus crisis.
Everybody is working very hard and cooperating to try and eliminate the few cases there are here in the Philippines. And I see videos of several foreigners not wearing masks, and attempting to violate the checkpoints without proper authorized permits to travel.
Everyone is doing their part in cooperating. Please tell your friends to do the same. The sooner we cooperate to kick this virus, the sooner the travel bands can be lifted.

Right just ask the baranggay captain for food, they'll likely give you Filipino food just don't be picky and eat like a local. Also there's no shortage for fish and kangkong in that area... But there will be a shortage of prepackaged food, canned food, processed, imported food like cheese... cos these are low priority supplies coming in that the locals see as less essential

But, aren't you safer there, than in the UK where thousands have already died? I said in other British vlogs that the British embassy could have made arrangements for the British school in the BGC to make it their provisional "home" for those stranded. That way, everyone is in one place, where food is delivered, health checked for any symptoms as well as it's near the airport. Pickup points could have been arranged by the British Embassy and hired shuttle buses could have been put in place, which is cheaper than hiring a whole hotel--95% of them closed---than being scattered around 7,000 islands. What the British embassy needs is foresight and common sense. Anyway, take care! from sad sad Spain

Give those stuck some cash assistance. Or have the embassy contact the lgu. Local governments are delivering aid, and food with cash assistance on the way. In the uk on the other hand, shelves are empty, hundreds are dying, and im not sure if theyll get food and financial assistance there. Id seriously rethink where i would want to be right now.

Based from some of the comments I've read so far, majority of the Filipinos (if not 100%) are advising you to stay here. Well, that's a positive sign already, that Filipinos are welcoming/embracing you especially now that there is pandemic. Yeah, Phils is not a rich country, sooner or later food will run out (hopefully not sooner), whatever is left, filipinos are sharing the foods for foreigners, who get trapped here. But I doubt that's gonno happen in provinces like siargao, most big islands are self sustaining. If you're not picky enough and will eat anything (not including exotic foods, dont worry most of us do not) then you'll survive. Especially foods here are much cheaper compared in UK. But the same time, I totally understand your situation, because you still need to pay house/apartment/room rent which added to your expenses. If you have 1,000pounds, thats more likely be more than enough for 5 people to survive in more than a month. But at the same time, you also want to stay with your families in UK, wanna be with them in times of this pandemic. So good luck, hoping for the best, but should you decide to stay, filipinos will welcome you especially in provinces (I cant guarantee the same in major cities though). 👍

The reason why people buying less in Philippines is because the supermarkets are limiting certain amount of foods to be bought by each family. This prevents people from hording and hogging foods and supplies. So pretty much rationing it out. Like each family is only allowed 2 bags of whole wheat bread, 3 bottles of rubbing alcohol, etc. Those are for certain items only. The rest you can actually go ham on. Also heard this might extend past April. Welp...

In the Philippines people are very kind and generous people. If you go a house like 1:00 pm. And they are eating there lunch. They will invite you, wethere you like it or not. That's the way we are in our village. Stay in the Philippines for the moment.

Stranded in paradise? If I were them, they should just stay in the Philippines. The pandemic is worse in Europe, which includes UK, not to mention the danger of being in the plane with hundreds and hundreds of people.

@God you need to stop reading fake news and listen to his full speech. What he actually meant was a warning to the Reds and leftists who are trying to create chaos when food and supplies are being distributed. He got angry when people started threatening medical frontliners with bleach. He's trying hard to stop the virus.

@God lol you surely mis understood what our president said. shoot those who make A FUSS AND PUT EVERYBODY IN DANGER. If you go out to buy essentials then you are free to do so ., but if you go out, do some protest, and hassle the frontliners then the oresident have given the police or militar to shoot you. One life in exchange for the rest of filipino people who follow the rules.

But... People are going to go hungry tho. The quarantine got extended and not everyone has any saved income for situations like these. I mean I'm getting pissed Meralco is gonna up the price on electricity even in the midst of this lock down, where not everyone has work atm... 😒
It's either you starve or get sick from the virus. Tough choices..

If Prince Charles and Boris Johnson got it what makes you guys think you won't in the UK. Fact is covid cases in London are not plateauing yet. Would you rather hear ambulance sirens or the splash of waves in the morning when you have your tea?Cheers
