Thank you Craig and Ron for spreading some knowledge. Very eye opening that DIY is not always the best way and there are some huge benefits to taking your bike to the pro.

Thanks Rich. Just want folks to know there’s options. 👍 I personally love the satisfaction of wrenching on my bikes, but I use my mechanic for things I don’t have the experience or tools to do myself.

Awesome Craig! Another great tip for tuning up your bike is from within your own circle of riders. There's always someone who has the tools and skills to help you out and it can avoid the scary experience of taking it to a shop that manhandles things too much. Nothing worse than watching a bike store mechanic carelessly scratching your paint or decals!

Just got that bike yesterday I already upgraded the handle bars to some S&M and the pedals to billet bmx with a tensioner also.. Getting a billet stem next and other billet parts.. Parts are pricey but they look so nice

@Issac @Craig Hey guys I guess you’re doing well with bikes like that.
Craig you’ve got a serious collection going on there, if you ever need someone to ride your Race Inc for you, don’t forget I asked.
Seriously I was wondering what colour and size to get of the Race Inc B.M.X. bikes to get as all the colours look more than hot, I’m totally stoked for you.....!!!
It’s all ways good to have a good relationship with your local bike shop, as there will definitely come a time when you need their help, and you will definitely need tyres, brake blocks and lube from them.
Most bike shops are always cool to get on with and great people to hang out with , I used to be a bike mechanic.
And remember it’s very important to know what cakes or drinks your local bike mechanic loves, as they will be your best friend when you have a major problem with your bike.....😎

You can ride mine anytime bro. Head over to raceincbmx.com and check out their lineup. I have the RA-29B in black and gold, and the RA-29R in red. Both are amazing and 29” bikes. Race also makes a 26”, 24” and a 20”. 🤘

GT is guilty of the chain being so tight from factory. On my 2021 Heritage 20 inch pro performer chain was super tight and backwards, the crank arms were also super tight I had to use a cheater bar to break it loose. I'm surprised it didn't strip

I went to the only local shop in town. When I asked them about building a bike out of the box, they gave me an attitude about liability and yada yada......
Personally, I think it was more of a fact that I didn't get the bike through them.
They finally decided that they'd do it as an exception, still with the attitude, if I can prove I got it new and disassembled and brought it in, still in the box, with the receipt.
    yeah.....so screw them.
I've rebuilt engines, transmissions, and everything in between, so I'll do it myself.
P.S......not once in this video did I see an actual torque wrench being used. Why?

I would buy an assembled bike from a shop, but I'd never take them one to build. I enjoy building bikes and working on cars and can't justify to myself for and reason at all to have someone else work on my things.

    • @80sbmxcraig57
      @80sbmxcraig57 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Totally understand, and I too like to build the majority of my bikes. However, I also support, and wanted to be informative about supporting bike shops. As I mentioned, some manufacturers have an explicit warranty that requires a certified build by a LBS. If that’s not an issue and you enjoy the build up process as I do, by all means do what works best for you.😎
