This was definitely an off-night for them. I have been going there for many years and love it. They also had one in Spanish Springs that closed. You had bad service and it would be aggravating to have them cleaning up around you-not a relaxing meal! I usually go to the Lake Sumter location but have also been to Brownwood. Have been only at lunchtime.
Stuffed cabbage! You are sooooo lucky to have a Jewish deli restaurant near you! My great-grandmother was Jewish (and converted) and some of the traditional food was passed down. Sadly, there's nothing like this near me. I would eat at that restaurant everyday and have the matzo ball soup, the bagel with lox, the brisket, stuffed cabbage, pastrami on rye with the kosher pickle. You made a good choice with the Reuben. ... Maybe I'd go broke though. 7 pm is late for a seniors community. Maybe go back at 3 pm.
TooJays in Lake Sumter was one of my favs over the years, but has declined over the last year for reasons similar to what you're reporting. The TooJays in Brownwood seems more organized. Quality of food is above average and consistent. Thanks for your review
My family loves TooJays. Everything is really good. Good value also. Really underrated deli for the quality of the food. Give them another chance as I've been to that location several times and had great experiences. I normally go to the one in Altamonte Springs though.
Last time we were there very slow service, and no follow up same as you. We were told they only had one cook, but to not check up was poor. I do like the Carrot Cake and Rubin. IMO prices are fair with the cost of goods today.
We used to go to the lake Mary location. When there is that many items, tough to be good at all of them. The Reuben is my favorite, it’s simple to assemble with the quality meats. If they don’t have a lot of cooks, imagine trying to make just your 4 orders and get it out at same time. Probably most of the back had left or didn’t show up.
That’s too bad. Even if they were having maintenance issues somewhere, it was still rude to start cleaning and putting up chairs and things while they still had guests. It appeared that someone just wanted to leave early. They could have easily told you guys what was going on. Never been there, and never will.
Been only to the Toojays thats in Brownwood at the Villages---BUT---recent visit was also very disappointing---slow service/kinda disinterested server ---used to be a great place B4 covid---prices are still high ---lost interest in a revisit---the corporation should have some secret shoppers to visit and give an unbiased review---secret shoppers used to be a big deal years ago---no one knew who you were when visiting and the secret shopper companies paid the shoppers for their time and full meal costs--I enjoyed those benefit days !!!
Horrible management at this location not to check on the customers and explain delays. Too many other great choices to dine. On-site management should be fired as they apparently get it right at other locations.
Good review Alex and Tember! Appreciate your honesty. I wouldn't go there with that kind of service
Thanks for watching! We appreciate it!
We love TooJays! Best Matzo ball soup and love the chopped chicken liver in the deli section. The Rugelah is delicious!
Yeah usually we have a pretty good experience but they must have been off that day.
The one in Lake Mary is awesome 👌...😊
Good to know! Will have to do that one!

TooJay's is a favorite! Last summer, when we went to Celebration, we spent a Sunday afternoon in TV, and went to TooJay's for lunch.
Glad you enjoyed it!!

Good to know! We haven’t been to the Altamonte one ever. Maybe we can try that sometime!

Thx for the review, I would pass as well!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching!
You should try the TooJays in Brownwood. Always good service.
We will have to do that! Haven’t been to that one before.
Anyone from NY knows that Tojays is not like a traditional NY deli.. Wish there was one..😊
Good to know! Never been to NY so we have nothing to compare it to lol
Never had any of these issues at the Brownwood location.
Need to try the Brownwood one sometime then!
👍👍
Thanks!
Try Ben’s if you want real deli in Florida. It would be a drive because I think they are only in Boca Raton
Oh wow! Yeah that’s a bit of a drive but if we are down there, we will have to try it!
Is your wife ok, she looks *Really* tired and worn out? Everything ok?
She is good but being a teacher definitely is a tiring thing so long days at the school. Teachers work so hard! Thanks for asking!

Do the parents enjoy being part of the reviews?
They like going and exploring all the places we go!

Hmmm…very expensive for such a sub-par experience. No appetizers or dessert and still almost $100 with tip just for sandwiches. No thanks!

Prices are outrageous for what was served. $100 including a tip for sandwich food is simply ridiculous.
I could get prime ribeyes with potatoes and grill for cheaper. A grill cheese 12 bucks 🙄, 2 slices of bread a cheese absolutely insane.
I would not go there after seeing this.
It’s unfortunate that this one didn’t perform well. The last time we went it was better but this time it wasn’t.
Putting up chairs up and closing before close near customers is really rude. I wouldn’t go there for that alone.
Agreed! It was not the best service we have had.
