    I switched to WEN Blades about 2 years ago , the hi dollar blades were good for about 3 to 4 months and cost about $100 plus / minus. Now another $50 to ship& sharpen . Or spend $14.00 on a WEN brand and it too lasted about 4-6 months and it can be recycled and another new one put on and total $ spent is about 35 vs 150 . You can do the math . Too if by chance I find a missed a nail and sparks fly , I just swap out & toss my $14.00 blade . Had it been my expensive blade ,I would be out the cost of a new blade.WEN Blades are my go to blades 100% . Cheers

      I found Wen blades on amazon myself recently. Im just starting to tool up with more tools for remodeling and woodworking. I needed a better blade than what came with my craftman table saw to cut pine for trim and cut MDF for coutertops. Got a Wen 80 tooth and installed it on the saw right out of the box. I can say it cuts smoothly. The cuts on the MDF look and feel smoother than the factory cuts. For $20 its a deal. Since i dont know were to get blade sharpening done I'm likely to throw it away and these are cheap enough to do so.

      Why does it seem like this Wen is better than the Makita in many ways? The 12" Makita he was reviewing on this channel, people say it cuts slightly concave, not flat straight cuts, because of the arm defection on long cuts.

    Man I can't thank you enough for being a youtuber and posting very informative videos. We just finished a 5'x3' kitchen table my wife found at a thrift store (old Drexel table)! She wanted that destressed look. She wanted a dark green (to match dining room) under the white (biscuit crumb chalk paint). Now we still have 5 chairs to sand, paint, and reupholster. Can't wait to share the project with you, and again, it's all thanks to you posting videos, replying to questions, and linking videos. It was a fun project for my wife and I to do together.

First I found some nice workbench plans on youtube without meaning to, then I had someone ask for another blanket ladder this morning (I haven't made one in 2 years), and now you post a video about a budget miter saw, which I have been thinking about buying. Coincidence? I think not.

    I bought a Kobalt 7 1/4 mitre saw a few years ago before I really go into woodworking for cutting vinyl flooring. It worked great for a while but now even after changing blades and checking for square every cut isn't square. No matter what I do I can't get it to cut a straight 90 degree cut. And my budget is extremely tight because the wife and I just bought a new pickup to retire the chevy tahoe I been driving the last 10 years. It may take me a few months to save up the money to buy it but I think this mitre saw is going to be the next thing I buy for my shop. I saw you other video on the Delta saw which I really want but what I want is not what I can afford. This should do for a few years hopefully.

    If you have more space to the wall, I recommend the SKIL 10" SCMS. It's double bevel, has a superb quick clamp (cp. Festool's), motor is angled rearward (more cutting capacity), solid cast aluminum, square out of the box with easy adjustments. Has an LED light showing both sides of the cut line (throws a blade shadow). Can add a dust collection scoop to the built-in port. Under $300. Do also recommend the Diablo blades.

    I like the battery powered 7 1/4 Ridgid miter saw. It is extremely lightweight and fits on top of the Ridgid Pro Gear boxes like it was made to be. The fact that you can chop 2x4 s in one pass is spectacular for what I tend to do.
    I would recommend a battery powered miter saw to anybody in a trade who occasionally has to throw a block in a framed wall or a stringer behind a tub. Light Fixture framing anything it’s just the perfect miter saw cause you can throw it down on your tailgate and get straight to work.

    9:27 Pro tip when cutting thicker boards (or harder wood) is to make multiple passes. IOW don't cut the full depth all at once, rather make a series of shallow passes using only the weight of your hand. Once you start muscling it you will introduce the deflection. Let the tool do the work.

    I normally don't comment but I I'm going to now. I have a miter saw that was given to me that has never really been that accurate and I'm currently trying to complete a project that I can't complete because I can't get an accurate enough cut, so I've been searching for something affordable that's not going to break the bank. I came across this video and I find it funny that a year ago it says in the title that it is under $200. Fast forward a year I click on this Amazon link and it is almost $230 now. I can recall first seeing the Delta cruzer miter saw on this channel in the past and I thought man I'd love to have that, when I looked at the price at the time I think it was somewhere around $500 now it's up over $640 to $650. I paid $600 for my Delta 725T2 table saw years ago that's insane that they're charging that much just for a miter saw. What a world.

    I’m actually rocking a harbor freight miter saw with the 12 inch sliding Didn’t come with a blade and I made the mistake of getting a harbor freight blade so the tear-out is horrible. That being said the actual miter saw was 90 right out of the box and has held it without out needing any adjustments

    • @dafirnz
      @dafirnz ปีที่แล้ว

      They both probably come out of the same factory.
      Brands like those that Wen and whatever Harbor Freight sells don't have an R&D budget, it's all the same stuff rebranded. Even a lot of the 'premium' brand stuff is just rebrands, or there are lesser brands selling the exact same tool with a different color scheme for less.

    I'm not sure whether to scold you or praise you.
    My adult daughter broke my old 10" Craftsman miter saw (the fence casting broke into several pieces). Based on your video, I looked at the Wen. The saw you reviewed had a long lead time so I looked at the same saw with a laser for several dollars more. I ordered the 10" saw with the shadow line for just a few dollars more. The saw was delivered today and, to my surprise, it was the 12" saw, MM1215. After conversing with customer service, they said I could keep the saw since it was their error. I have not unboxed it, but it is a beast.
    Because of you, I have gone from an old broken non-sliding single bevel saw to a huge sliding double-bevel saw.

      Also, I believe that the front support shown at 7:45 is there for use when the saw isn’t bolted down, but doesn’t seem to provide any support when the saw is secured to the bench. If I’m correct I’m glad, because I don’t want to have it mounted that far back on my bench.

    Bought one! I had a 12" Delta Cruzer (big slider with the elbow joints) on a Portamate stand. It took up too much space, weighed a ton, and wasn't used enough so I sold it. This saw, attached to a plywood base is light enough for me to lift (I'm old), it clamps to my work bench, and stores nicely on the work bench shelf. Out of the box square and my first cuts were 2 X 12s for a Jet 1640 lathe (400+ lbs). I have a Wen track saw, Wen full size band saw, and a Wen Pneumatic Multi Function tool so I obviously like the brand but your review sealed the deal. Thanks!

    Thanks for the video. I came here due to my 2 night frustration trying to square the 10 inch Ryobi cordless. After getting the DFM and Woodpecker precision triangles, it just wont square up. Just a DIY'er and would like to know if you approve of the Dewalt 12 inch DWS715. Looking for more precision than the lower end models. I am a stickler for making my work look good.

    Wish I knew about that before I bought a Chicago Electric miter saw from harbor freight. I can’t get that thing to cut square no matter how many hours I spend tinkering with it.

    Have you considered trying a hikoki, not sure if its the same brand name in america, they have a good reputation and are cheaper if you go for less advanced mitre saw

    I just bought one of these. First impressions out of the box it's wonderful for the price. Had to do some super minor squaring, but overall, I'd buy again in a heartbeat.

    Not a major selling point but still notable, is the fence is pre-drilled so an extension can be attached. My Delta 10" slider's fence wasn't drilled. No big deal, it only took maybe 10 minutes to measure and drill it for the mounting screws, but it's a plus for it to be pre-drilled.

    My Kobalt miter saw has a laser… I thought for the longest time it didn’t work because I couldn’t see it. Used it the other day with the garage door down and BOOM! There it was! It was just too bright to see it before.

    How do you feel about the wen blades? Home Depot and Amazon I think even Lowe's sells them, looking at buying something better than the stock blade that came on my new saw. And the prices of these wen blades are so good I can't ignore them. Obviously I'll be buying one of the higher tooth blades though.

    I took advantage of a home Depot special around Christmas time...Ryobi 10" sliding compound miter saw (with led!! Lol) and a Ryobi universal stand for $269. Feel like I came away good on that one.

    Not sure if you can get them in the US, and exchange rates might push it to around $300USD, however for slightly over this (currently $449 here in West Australia) you can get the Evolution R255SMS+. They tout this as a "will cut anything" Mitre saw, and it just about does, including quite thick (5mm) stainless steel tubing, (with the right blade). I have been using it purely for woodworking for well over a year and after swapping out the blade for a Diablo and after set ups and a zero clearance (boy does this need it, the gap was enormous), the results are fantastic, note the 'laser' is absolute garbage. If you can get it over there in the US it might be worth a check.

    I just got this same saw two weeks ago and it is definitely a upgrade from the Chicago saw I was using. Mine was also square right out of the box but I had to adjust the Lazer a little bit other than that I believe it's a great saw.

    wen has been very impressive so far for the few things that I purchased from them (bandsaw, belt/spindle sander, & drill press w/table).
    I originally bought an hpt 10 inch miter saw for on sale for $100 when I was first getting starting fully expecting to replace it, but its still going strong.

    • @emmakun
      @emmakun ปีที่แล้ว

      If you need to cut up to 12 inch boards, you need the sliding one, just keep in mind that it is not a precision tool, unless you get the festool and learn how to use it with accuracy and repeatibility. Otherwise just get the regular. For precision miters and crosscuts nothing beats the table saw.
