Thank you for the video - Just ordered the Mulletron in both Silver and Mossback to try. I started reeling small bait casters with my left hand (many years ago) which is very easy to do. Then you can throw with right and start reeling without having to switch hands ALL DAY LONG. Nice boat and like those reels too. Blessings
Thanks for the great share!
Thanks C A for the daily tips.
Interesting hook concept. I’ll look into it.
These videos make me miss home in port richey keep up the good work capt
I wasn’t fishing that far away from your old stomping grounds
Thanks for this video, received some mulletron a couple of weeks ago and unfortunately sprained my wrist the same day. So haven't been able to try them and wasn't sure the best easy to fish them. Now really excited to get on the water and work them.
You will like how the Mulletron performs Mike… get healed up soon
Absolutely awesome bait when out this morning and really used it because of your video and caught some monster reds
Cool bait
Love mine for bass in bayou tiger.
CA… best of the best!
I see your fishing fish creek at Ozello. 👍
Great content as always Capt CA! Do you change the hook to a bigger size like you mentioned with the 6 inch mulletron or keep the stick hook for the 4.5 inch size? Thanks!
Despite the water being clear, the bottom is dark, do you choose a darker color due to the color of the bottom? And vice versa if the bottom was “much brighter/clear”?
Looks good. I'm going to need the perfect flounder lures for 10' or less of water, 4' average, with lots of floating marsh grass drifting around and lots of green kelp and soft corals. It's flatfish time around the Chesapeake but that means lots of stuff in the water. Jigs catch weeds on most casts. Hopefully I can figure out a lure that flounder like, but ribbon fish don't. If you don't know about ribbon fish just imagine trying to fish around a bunch of ladyfish with barracuda mouths. They're in a school, very aggressive, and they have nasty dental work. They shred bucktails and soft plastics. I'm not sure the lure I need exists.
Wow… Ribbonfish seem pretty formidable
@@flatsclasscharters they're really annoying to me. But some people fish for them and take home coolers full. They're supposed to be very good to eat, but they're so skinny it would take a couple fish to be full.
Mulletron one of my go to baits. Looking for long pants for fishing. Any recommendations?
Tried one yesterday...they dont cast (from a baitcasting reel) ...you have to "lob" them
You will find they cast best on a crisp MH casting rod.
What reel are you using?
What retrieve ratio was your Bates GOAT in this video?
7.1
Where did you get the stool in the front of the boat? I've got a bad back! I need that for my center console!
Tailwater Outfitters in Tarpon Springs Florida
Love the bait. Only problem is replacement hooks. Emailed Zman about it and they sent me 1 new hook. Broke off on a red, got the bait back and hook is gone so bait was done. They need to sell them separate.
Edit: Just looked at website, seems they are selling replacement hooks now.
Thank you for the great insight and add to this post… much appreciated
I haven’t gotten any replacement hooks yet, I hope they’re better, but the original hooks they come with rust way too easily for a saltwater lure!
It’s too weedy where in the summer where I am to fish the LT Mulletron. What hook works best for rigging the regular Mulletron weedless?
5/0 EWG (Zman Chinlockz) in 1/4oz size
Thanks!
What knot are you using to connect to the hook?
Palomar
How do yhey skip? I fish a lot of docks for snook but also like to cover open water between docks in the early mornings.
Oh they skip easy… perfect body for rolling low trajectory casts way under the docks
@@flatsclasscharters Thanks. I'm a big fan of simplicity, so I mostly throw a 4 inch diesel minnow on 1/4 oz trout eyes, but a bigger, heavier offering would be nice to get down to the big snook we have here in Stuart. Open water and bridges hold some real snookasauruses!
My favorite skipping lure!
I saw these at store was debating about trying it. Can I use these if I'm a land base fisher? Would these go good with fenwick hmg meduim heavy with a spinfisher 4500?
They are great for bass I have caught small 1 pounders on them
Spinfisher 4500 is a beast, more than you need. The mulletron has caught me bass to 6-7#'s. I like the zman Herculez even more.
100% you can. That 4500 is plenty. I’ve thrown very similar lures around bridges and flats with good success, also if you are able to wade, they’re great too
Yes that rod and reel combo will get the job done for sure. Land base fishing not an issue for anglers fishing the Mulletron… I have a friend who wade fishes with it and walks the seawalls fishing for snook
Need more handle on rod
CA, you may have said, but what power and action rod do you recommend?
I prefer MH/Fast
@@flatsclasscharters Thank you for the response and the content you put out. It means a lot to guys like myself who didn't grow up coastal fishing.
Do you use the Bates Salty for different applications than the Goat?
Actually I have both reels and like them equally for most applications. Just so that Bates Goat was on that particular rod… the Bates Salty definitely would be its equal in many applications
@@flatsclasscharters I’ve seen you use the goat a bunch so just curious if you had the salty being used for something different 👍🏼
He is using heavier braid than he suggested in his braid video
The braid video example was for my spinning rod set up… casting reels allow you to utilize heavier weight braid
