    Submariner math formula. Count the number of times you have gone down, add this to the number of times you have surfaced. Take this number, and divide by two. If there is a remainder, do not open the hatch.

      @@TTTjmanshorts English is not my first language, it took me time to understand the word 'remainder' in this context.
      Basically: you add your down and your up, if it's an odd number, you are still down.

      I honestly thought that is what the vice-grips were for at 18:39.. probably a neat project, but honestly.. no amount of money could get me in something like that. The elevation motors constantly creeping, not properly configured.. good luck man!

      They wouldn't be able to open it if the sub is underwater. Maybe come up with a dead man switch that will activate an emergency bouy to float the sub to the surface.

      @@HankPronk just a suggestion but it's pretty standard fare to have a regulator in the sub for breathing in case it floods. Just like one you would get off an octopus for scuba diving. Have it connect to the Air supply or an air tank so you can just breathe in case it sinks. Otherwise love the build :-) just heard that you actually have a regulator in there That's good news!

    Putting a piece of bank drive-thru glass on the bottom of a punt was the closest I've ever been to a submarine however my father has been going on dives in various subs since the late 60s and got paid on top of that. I'd have gone for free but I'm not a marine biologist and renting a sub with the mother ship and crew isn't exactly cheap so major props to you for building your own that I'd feel safe in. Definitely what this platform is for so thanks for the extra time to share.

    Hey Hank I have a question. If for example a submarine can go down to 5000 meters and maintain 1 ATM inside if the pressure was doubled to 2 ATM could that allow it to go down twice as deep to 10000 meters because if it can it would be a small price to pay to go down to the Mariana trench.

    • @HankPronk
      @HankPronk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, it would only change the depth rating by 33 feet. Just a fun fact, when a submarine dives to 5,000 m, it actually shrinks from pressure. That means, technically, the pressure inside increased ever so slightly.

    If you haven't already done so, some red LEDs inside could help with visibility.

    • @hitopsful

      @@tralfazy when I say night vision I mean low light vision. Underwater it gets dark pretty quick so if you can only focus on a sma porthole tk see and you have all kinds of lights and stuff in your small sub you will constantly be blinding your self and having a hard time looking through the hole and seeing wverytbing

      We go by the exact same logic here in Australia! We all live as close to the water as possible due to the massive trees and the Drop Bears that like to call them home! But yep you're right that is a great DIY Sub, brilliant even 👍👍👌
