    The difference between this sub and the Oceangate one is astounding.

    Hank, I noticed you now have the aft section with rudder and prop, like it had decades ago, and you removed the side thrusters. What led you to make that change? With only one prop instead of two, did that make a noticeable reduction in speed? Anxious to see more pics and video of the new sub, as there haven't been any 360 degree views yet. Congrats on the new one too:)

      Hi Randal. I accidentally damaged the side thrusters and actually prefer a single rear thruster. I used to travel pretty far to dive spots under its own power. The sub tracks better with the single prop. I will be posting lots more dive video's etc of the new sub. Thanks

    Forgot to ask if you've stayed in contact with Douglas Privit who originally built the Nekton subs. I keep thinking of calling him but then keep forgetting as well. Did you know Douglas from back in the day??

    • @HankPronk
      @HankPronk  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have actually never met Doug Privit

    It's more fun building it than using it. Very true. I have a lot of projects that rarely gets used, but building them sure was fun! :-)

      All my rifle builds and such have been that way too. Even when I was a kid, all my massive lego projects were more fun to design and build rather than to play with.

    I want to make a kind of submarine that the common man could buy. Not like luxury submarines or anything but more like utility submarines for fishing or retrieving items at the bottom of rivers or lakes.

      I have the buoyancy part checked out well enough that I’m certain with the tools and materials I could create a submarine that go from positive to neutral to negative buoyancy however I keep running simulations in my head and theirs a tiny problem I keep running into.
      I know and understand planes really well but a submarine is not a plane. The steering you would usually use in a plane would cause absolute chaos in a submarine. With that in mind I don’t understand submarine steering. For example with a plane if you were to point one jet down at angle another jet up at an angle it would roll but what would happen in a submarine if you did that with propellers? Would it roll or turn? I’m naturally going to look into things myself but I wanted to share the beginning of my subaquatic journey with you.

      Most subs use thrusters instead of dive planes. Motors mounted vertically and horizontal

      @@HankPronk yeah I’m going to completely overhaul my design. Gonna have to buy some more paper while I’m at it XD.

      @@bigsidrealprisontalk9173 to be fair I did not build that one from scratch, but I added the dome and the arm and the escape pod etc etc. not much of the original sub is left.
