I have to agree with you on all points. Just purchased my 5th Spyder. RT Limited. Not Sea To Sky so no luggage but everything else is the same. I have the same loves for the Spyder and the same dislikes. Went from an 18 Indian Chieftain back to a Spyder and am very disappointed in the sound system. I don't have the backrest but living in the New Mexico desert, cooled seats would be a blessing.
Maybe Can-Am will come out with the cooled seats option, hard to say. I hope to look at these in the spring after riding bikes all my life. Cheers from Canada .... good review.
I totally agree with the gas mileage, just got back from a road trip was totally surprised how many time I had to stop and fuel up was doing cruising speeds nothing crazy. Love Barbara assessment of the her spyder. Thanks SpyderWill
While I don't own a spyder I am a big fan. Obviously I build trikes but do the CanAm version. The spyder and the only front wheel conversion sport trike (Endeavor) are just more fun and much more sporty than any other trike. I agree with all your comments likes and dislikes. My rides are all GL1800 sport trikes and a parallel to your spyder best of the best. I have over 400k on my sport tikes and I am sure you will also soon 🙂
Well I got a 2021 F3-S In November this last year. I got the F-3S cause of my wife not wanting to ride on the highway. I only got to ride it 3 times, it has been way to cold for any extended rides. Can’t wait for this winter weather to break! Chicagoland winters can be brutal. It’s really quick on the road. I use to have a 1997 Valkyrie that was a road rocket!! That 1340 flat 6 with solid lifters and 6 carbs was so smooth. Miss that bike.
Good video. I had a chance to test ride a Can-Am at Americade years back, actually 2 of them. Couldn’t put it through the paces I’d have preferred due to the silly group ride. I did notice that getting one wheel - my right front into a soft shoulder was unsettling. The ergonomics on that weren’t quite right for me but I understand newer models don’t have the riders legs so splayed - apart. The single driving wheel in the back…how’s that an advantage over two driving wheels to get out of a soft spot? The dealer network is sparse compared to their main competitor, HD. 44 years on motorcycles and I just sold my Ultra Classic. Two hip replacements in my 40’s 20 years ago did not affect my riding but other physical changes have me shopping for 3. A trike IS my next purchase and It’ll sit next to my 2 remaining Harley’s - an antique FXE and an Evo-Sporty roadster. The Sea to Sky is nice effort but the cheesy infotainment and NAV are deal breaker for me. I’m 100% aware of what’s been problematic on the Tri Glide but knowing these things have been addressed plus the dealer network gives me confidence. Hey, I still ride a Shovelhead (grew up on them) so I know how to stay on top of issues. Maybe I’ll test ride a Can-Am again for fun…before in write a check for the whole nut. What will 2024 bring?
Hi, thanks for this review. My wife and I are considering the Sea to Sky. I was curious about the cup holder you use lol. I need one that holds my massive coffee tumbler 😅
As a 2021 S2S owner with over 6k miles on it, I agree with you on your review. Another thing I would add is all the options that should be standard.. The chin lights, the floorboard lights. I have replaced the windsheild with an f4 customs one as it is better vented and controllable venting. The should put lights where they have reflectors. I have put accessory lighting in place of the fender reflectors. They are now active lights and turn signals. I tow a small trailer when I travel.. I had to use a third party wiring harness as the brp one does not work with a third party trailer. The S2S is not perfect, but it is better than the 2018 rtl I had.
I am looking at the can am spyder rt limited , because I have nerve pain damage in my right leg and I just sold my harley 🙃 thanks for the info you provided in this video 😉
Fellow Sea2Sky owner here. I agree with all your points, well done. Regarding the speakers, I remember seeing a video about a guy that changed his amp to a Rockford Fosgate rather than changing the speakers. I'll have to look for that. Seemed like a easy thing to do behind the frunk. IIRC, he said the speakers were good, but the amp was the weak poing. Have really enjoyed your videos. Thanks!
We have to do something about the sound so I’ll look for that. There seems to be a complete void of info when it comes to the sound system upgrades on this bike.
Hello I am not complaining I'm just giving my personal opinion I have a 2020 Spyder RT Limited I think it's under powered for such a big touring bike the brakes are always squeaking and it takes a lot of break pressure to bring the bike to a stop at the price the bike cost me I feel I should not have to lock my saddlebags one by one with a key I also think I should be able to set the heated grips and seat temperatures to where I want not just high or low don't get me wrong I enjoy the bike I just think it's way over priced and I personally think Can-Am does that because they don't have any competition in that market
@@TwoIndians I hope you guys do not run into the brake issue I'm having with my bike I also own a 2021 Honda Goldwing and it has adjustable heated seat and hand grips and automatic locking saddlebags I just thought at that price for the Can-Am it should have the same thing as my goldwing just my opinion I appreciate your opinion on it
Thank you for the fuel mileage information. I have been trying to get an idea on what it is. Looking like I might have to switch to 3 wheel because of wrist and back injury. Can-Am Spyder RT has just a foot brake and then a throttle to twist with cruise control.. This is what is making it a good option for me since there is no clutch to pull in or let out.
Subbed...... Good review. I got a 2021 RT LTD chrome at the end of last season. My first spyder was an F3. I find the RT much more refined. Ride safe!!
Great information, thanks for sharing. I going to look at a 2015 used F-3 S today. Would love the T or an RT but my wife won’t ride on the highway. I told her she has ridden at highway speeds on our Valkyrie back in the day but she has this thing about the highway. We mostly ride in the country roads.
I’m glad to know that about the gas mileage, I thought something was wrong with my 22 RT. 25 -30 mpg compared to 40+mpg on my Valkyrie rune. But way more comfy for 2 up riding. And I love the storage space on my spider.
So glad it worked out for you. Your confidence level is so much higher just talking about it. How is the wind protection? Mileage seems a little low, maybe its just not aero dynamic? Ride safe! Thanks for sharing. It is super cool looking ;)
I think the bike is underpowered which is probably why the mileage is so bad but for all practical purposes it’s fine. Wind protection is decent but there are better aftermarket windscreen options
I agree with most everything you said Previously had my wife on a Ryker Rallye 900, which had a much sportier look and feel. Ultimately she decided comfort and function trumped looks so we traded up to Limited RT Fuel range on Ryker and Spyder are much less than my Streetglide which is a huge pain. We have no regrets though on this purchase
Very nice for sure, but I totally agree…for that price point, major miss for crappy sound system and fuel economy. My 2019 HD Road Glide Special has one of the worst sounding speakers ever (imo) for the price it should be much clearer and less distortion. I hear the 2021 has improved, but no help to me unless I dump about $1.2 to upgrade.
Integrated GPS means costly updates. The smartphone integration, especially with the new BRP Go, is fantastic. The sound system is very loud if you have it set right. I love my 2021 F3 Ltd.
I agree, integrated sat-nav's rope the unwitting consumer into annual update subscriptions, but anyone with half a brain knows Google is free, receiving live continuous updates on accidents, roadworks and localised congestion zones.
@@Zodliness Both Genius Map and Sygic are updated many times a year. No extra charge. I had to buy the Garmin and TomTom apps and they were a one time cost to buy. Got updated for free. Also all of what I said is offline capable, Google Maps can be used offline ONLY if you set up the route right. Turn it off and you loose it. Don’t have to do anything with Sygic or Genius, just set up a route and go. Since they are receiving traffic and road conditions, Sygic and Genius knows the same as Google.
In Florida a two wheel license will allow you to ride a three wheeler but a three wheel license will not allow you to ride on two wheels. Thanks for watching!
I see you solved that problem with a phone mount (same as me). That’s probably why they didn’t make much of an effort, everyone just uses the phone anyway!
Great review. I test rode one when I was having my '012 RT Limited serviced. Loved that seat sooo comfortable. In my opinion Can Am needs to develop detachable saddle bags that BMW had.And then add a driveshaft. If in the future when I can, I'll seriously will consider the Sea to Sky.
I also have a 21 RT limited and was curious if my bike or my driving style was the issue with my fuel mileage only being 30 on the highway . Glad to see its not me. Thanks for the video. Do you know what your’s does for top speed? Mine seems to be only capable of about 120mph on a good day.
Well, it is not a bike. It is a trike. Bike =2 wheels. Trike =3 wheels. All the additional things you have mentioned would equal extra cost. Can Am Spyders are made well into northeast Canada, and they don't need air conditioned seats. Otherwise, a nice review. I have a 2021 S2S BTW. I really like it.
I think they should have put apple car play in the dash personally. It would have its own GPS and a backup camera. I bought a Garmin with a backup camera to rectify those problems. but you still have to work around for phone calls and GPS audio.
Wow, that's something to have a bigger tank but less gas mileage. I wonder if some tuning would help with that. Gotta be something that can be done, but then it probably is a much heavier bike. I told my wife about it but she is so against bikes
@ridewithtwoindians - I'm considering purchasing a new 2021/2 Can-Am Spyder for use in the UK, I currently own a Piaggio MP3 500 sport, which as you may know, can lean and filters just as easily as any two wheeler. Besides the flaws and additions you've pointed out (and I agree) are features and accessories that should've been included as standard, for the Spyder's somewhat high price point. Coming in at £23,000+ GBP before optional accessories, is the equivalent in price to a well equipped mid-performance hatchback. It's second drawback is being subjected to unreliable British weather and stuck in traffic and fumes with everyone else. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and concerns. It's allot of money to invest in something that doesn't please as much as it should for the price. 👍🏻
I like the video but she said cooled seat on a motorcycle, just curious what bike has cooled seats? Absolutely when you pay premium for anything you should expect a lot.
Indian Motorcycle has the Clima-cool seat and it’s actually pretty amazing. I don’t have one but have tried it. We live in Florida so swamp-butt is real.
I very much enjoyed your video about your likes and dislikes about the Spyder. I especially related as I recently went from a '22 Chieftain LTD, a great bike, to a 2024 Spyder STS. After riding for 60 years and 12, 2 wheelers, it was time to go to the 3 wheeler for comfort and safety reasons. The Chieftain, riding 2 u just became 2 much and it wore me out. I do have one question for you though...... How long did it take for you to feel comfortable with the steering, at freeway speeds? I'm pretty good to go at speeds up to about 60, but much past that, she's still a little shakey. The 3 wheeler is just so much more sensitive than leaning the Chieftain. Your thoughts?
Totally agree with everything you said. I do love my RTL Spyder but for the money Can- Am could have made better use of the hardware and the system. And on Petro I get about 275 mls on fulltank on hwy trips
Love my 2 wheels, but love my Spyder too, they are awesome. All of the Spyder and Rykers get pretty poor gas mileage though... wish they'd do something about that.
Especially now fuel is going up so much in price. When I bought my bike new in 2019, I was paying £1.28 per litre, now they're demanding in excess of £1.80+ at the pumps.
I am 89 and love my 2016 can am SE6 rt limited I bought it September 2017 and have 69000 trouble free miles on it handles much better in the curves than a rear wheel trike and 15000 $ cheaper I put 45000 miles on a Goldwing trike so I know
Is the front seat back rest detachable? I’m considering getting a Spyder (I can’t ride a two wheeler) but my wife has limited mobility and might find it difficult to climb aboard if the back rest if a permanent fixture.
The front seat back rest is detachable but it’s a pain in the ass to remove and cannot be done on the fly. It does fold down and forward to allow the rear passenger to easily get a leg over.
I have about 3500-4000 miles of driving experience on my RT. I'm just now becoming a bit more relaxed through the turns and curves. I've looked at the F3s and noticed that the driver sits much lower and the gas tank is about sternum level as opposed to navel level. So, would handlebar risers aid in achieving a more stable feeling through the turns and curves? If not what do you suggest? Many thanks!
In order to address the same feelings I’m installing an aftermarket “BajaRon” sway bar probably this weekend and will let you know what the results are.
@@TwoIndians Hi! Thanks for the rapid response! I've installed the Baja Ron sway bar and it definitely helps. Did raising the handlebars help in any way towards a more secure feeling through the curves? I have friends with a couple 0f '08 Spyders and a couple of F3s; none of them have these struggles through the turns and they're all riders with massive 2 wheel experience. They don't even lean and they're hitting 35 mph curves at 50-55 mph. They all seem to be sitting deeper into the cavity than I do on the RT.CoachBob3 rides an RT and leans like mad...maybe it's just the nature of the beast, lean and suck it up...???
Regarding mpg, I have a ‘15 Spyder RT Limited. I’m getting 39-40 mpg consistently, burning premium fuel. I’m a little puzzled that you’re only getting 30 on your new Spyder, unless it has something to do with government imposed emission controls that my older Spyder doesn’t have as of date of manufacture.
She likes the CanAm better on long rides and is still happy with her purchase. There are times she misses the Chietain but it’s just too heavy for her to maneuver around in parking lots.
I have a 2021 Rt Limited. I have just hit 10,000 miles on it. I’ve been a Harley rider as well a custom builder most of my adult life. I can no longer ride a conventional motorcycle as the results of a life threatening accident . The three wheels and no clutch was the only answer to keep me in the wind. Overall I think it’s pretty good. However the negatives are extremely disappointing . Like you said , very poor stereo. And don’t even think about putting in Kicker speakers. Unlike the older models you need to tear apart almost the whole front end to instal , very costly and worse yet they don’t sound much better. They need to put in a much better amp. The whole radio sucks. It has to load every time you start the thing and that’s just crazy. Sometimes it goes fast other times it takes way too long. Next let’s talk about the God awful clunk you get putting it into gear when you start. Seriously WTH. And yes the mileage sucks too. Being a Harley guy the exhaust sounds like a freaking sewing machine. I popped for a $1700. Complete new exhaust . Now it just sounds like a sewing machine on steroids. Being in the performance line of V twin products I still can’t figure how it can run as good as it does. The same CC’s as a V twin Harley Evo motor. Yet just one cylinder on the Evo has an exhaust diameter the size of all three cylinders 🤷🏻♂️I guess because the pistons are so tiny in comparison. Still overall the total amount of gasses amazes me what gets through their system. For the price I’m disappointed but to be honest in the 3 wheel class it’s still the best out there. Just buyer be informed and aware. Can Am really needs to step up their game. Oh as to the GPS. I don’t like nor use their system. I use my cell with an app that is superior. I think pretty much you nailed it though. Thx
@@trucker-d4161 if you want to get nit-picky, the Indian has heated and air ventilated seats. To have true cooling seats you do need air conditioning. My 2015 BMW X5 has heat and air ventilation options for the front seats. My 2020 Lincoln Corsair has heated, air conditioned and massage front seats. Big difference between the two vehicles in the hot summer months with the A/C cooled seats. You definitely feel the cold air on the Lincoln whereas you’re searching for it on the BMW.

Maybe Can-Am will come out with the cooled seats option, hard to say. I hope to look at these in the spring after riding bikes all my life. Cheers from Canada .... good review.
Great info and job Barbara!
Great review. Appreciate your candid opinion. Thanks!
A lovely presentation.
Thank you 👍
Thanks for the vid as my wanted to ride but walks with a cain. This is what I'm thinking for her to learn on and ride. Stay safe out there.
Nice bike. You should be up a lot of distance down on that . Road trip to key west !!
The S2S is not perfect, but it is better than the 2018 rtl I had.
thanks for watching!
Great comparison. I have a 23 S2S and put a Carpuride Car Play Adapter on mine. Then u use GPS of choice. I agree BRP sound system sucks!!
I can’t argue with much of that but we haven’t experienced the brake issue. Fingers crossed
Ride safe!!
Awesome, thanks. Check out our other content on this bike and our travel/riding videos. 💪
@@TwoIndians I will for sure. I don't have a lot of content on my channel yet but I am getting there. Shorter riding season where I live. 🇨🇦
Great review, thank you sincerely!!
Great review, thanks for sharing.
Hum. Never thought about cooling seats. I’m up in NH but I agree, during some hot summer days, cooling seats would be nice!
We live in FL so heat is an issue
@@susierebelryder492actually u can download maps on google in advance
Awesome video hey did yall put it in eco mode might get some better mpg on the highways
Hi Barbara great review! I bought a 2022 Can-Am RT Sea-To-Sky. So excited to ride!! Can you tell me where you bought your cup holder?
I think we got it from LaMonster Garage
Is it a separate license in Florida? In Washington you have to get a trike license after you have your motorcycle license.
In Florida a two wheel license will allow you to ride a three wheeler but a three wheel license will not allow you to ride on two wheels. Thanks for watching!
Either a spyder or a ryker? Not sure. Something to look fwd to (hopefully) in the future.
Depends on if you’re going across town or across state.
I agree about the back rest. I also agree about that GPS too.
To say this bike has navigation is a joke. It’s honestly useless.
I see you solved that problem with a phone mount (same as me). That’s probably why they didn’t make much of an effort, everyone just uses the phone anyway!
Thanks For The Insight! Good Video!
Great review!
120? LOL, Barb got her up to 92 once, I doubt she’ll ever see 120
Thanks for another great video. Did you think about converting Barbara's Indian into a trike?
We did but the down time was too long for her to be without a ride
Well, it is not a bike. It is a trike. Bike =2 wheels. Trike =3 wheels. All the additional things you have mentioned would equal extra cost. Can Am Spyders are made well into northeast Canada, and they don't need air conditioned seats.
Otherwise, a nice review. I have a 2021 S2S BTW. I really like it.
I love you referring to the dash as real estate.
Hey I'm on Instagram too!
Advertising space is available.
I think they should have put apple car play in the dash personally. It would have its own GPS and a backup camera. I bought a Garmin with a backup camera to rectify those problems. but you still have to work around for phone calls and GPS audio.
Awesome / Great Video‼️
Lol. Just like my Harley. Gotta spend extra to bypass lousy seat and handle bars. But an excellent video
Wow, that's something to have a bigger tank but less gas mileage. I wonder if some tuning would help with that. Gotta be something that can be done, but then it probably is a much heavier bike. I told my wife about it but she is so against bikes
It is a much heavier bike, almost 1100 lbs with a motor that’s too small IMHO.
Safety and comfort are top priorities for sure. Plus Mrs Barb has Maleficent for the times she needs to feed her dark side😜👍
Nice review
glad we dont do the click bait thing! hehe
@@TwoIndians I didn’t know that is amazing.
I have another video on here about installing the Baja Ron sway bar and it makes Highway speeds much more comfortable. Highly recommended
Totally agree with everything you said. I do love my RTL Spyder but for the money Can- Am could have made better use of the hardware and the system. And on Petro I get about 275 mls on fulltank on hwy trips
Do you use the ECO on a trip??
what do you think about the 2024 sea to sky with the new dashbord
Exactly right on you likes and dislikes. I have the same with mine. Overall and great machine and my wife loves it.
It says it has a 7 gallon tank but I've never been able to get it to take more than 5.4 gallons at a fill-up.
I think that’s because it retains a large reserve.
Where did you get your t-shirt? I can't find many cool looking Spyder shirts.
She made that! Let us know if you want one 😉
@@TwoIndians I think I would like to get one. I didn't see one on your website.
What speakers are you upgrading too? I’m interested in upgrading my speakers as well.
We haven’t made a final decision yet because there are some modifications that we have to do for mounting probably still a month or two away
Why not go the extra wheel...and buy a little roadster, like a Miata or a Z4?
That’s a great idea. We actually had a Z3 for many years and enjoyed that.
I am 89 and love my 2016 can am SE6 rt limited I bought it September 2017 and have 69000 trouble free miles on it handles much better in the curves than a rear wheel trike and 15000 $ cheaper I put 45000 miles on a Goldwing trike so I know
I’m literally giving you a standing ovation! Well done sir!
@@TwoIndians Thank you. I’m going to enjoy my retirement!
Great video very informative
Thanks!
@@TwoIndians do you still ride your Indian Chieftain Motorcycle?
Where did you get the ALONG CAME A SPYDER shirt from?
She made it with her Cricut device
the central locking of the luggage is missing, too bad
Really good point, didn’t even think about that
Regarding mpg, I have a ‘15 Spyder RT Limited. I’m getting 39-40 mpg consistently, burning premium fuel. I’m a little puzzled that you’re only getting 30 on your new Spyder, unless it has something to do with government imposed emission controls that my older Spyder doesn’t have as of date of manufacture.
Yes I think all spyder should have cool seats.
Where did you get your cupholder from?
Ride safe guy's. Beautiful trike.
Compared to the Chieftain, how do you feel after a long day’s ride?
Thx
I got a friend who's got a Harley trike only gets 28 mpg.
What are you going to do when the lock don't open that front storage?
No idea but I gotta beleive there is a way to get it open
My wife loves her RT Limited
First of all you would have to have an air condition system on the vehicle to implement a cooling seats
Actually Indian Motorcycle has cooled seats, without the air conditioning.
First of all……..you are wrong🤷♂️
@@trucker-d4161 if you want to get nit-picky, the Indian has heated and air ventilated seats. To have true cooling seats you do need air conditioning. My 2015 BMW X5 has heat and air ventilation options for the front seats. My 2020 Lincoln Corsair has heated, air conditioned and massage front seats. Big difference between the two vehicles in the hot summer months with the A/C cooled seats. You definitely feel the cold air on the Lincoln whereas you’re searching for it on the BMW.
@@heystarfish100 yes, but they don’t have air conditioning, if you want to get picky🤷♂️, pretty obvious cars have air conditioning, please tell me you don’t think bikes do 🙈
@@trucker-d4161 I’m not sure you and I at this point disagree. Like the OP said, you need the minimum of air conditioning to have air conditioned seats on a vehicle. I agree 100%. Of course motorcycles don’t have air conditioning therefore like I said earlier, the seat is air cooled not A/C cooled. Big difference.
CAN AM really needs to listen to the people as their products are their currency.
My wife is dying to know, where did you get your shirt?
She made it! If you ask real nice she could make you one, maybe.
BTW, love the Tee Shirt. 😎.
My 2005 Suzuki Burgman had a dash like yours, sort of olive green background with dark grayish symbols. HATED that look. Dials, have to have dials, either digital or analog.
