  • INFECTIONS FOR C. DIFFICILE
C.difficile is considered to be responsible for approximately 25% of the diarrhoea associated with the consumption of antibiotics2, including clindamycin, second- and third-generation of cephalosporins, gyrase inhibitors, ampicillin, amoxicillin and so forth.
In addition to the diarrhoea symptoms, the disease can led to pseudomembranous colitis (PMC), which requires urgent treatment with antibiotics effective against C.difficile (metronidazole, vancomycin) as the patient's life may be compromised.
The mortality associated to C.difficile can be between 6% and 30%, especially if the patient suffers from PMC.
    SCREENING PROCEDURES
Some of the leading healthcare societies propose the use of a two-step protocol for identifying toxigenic C.difficile involving an initial screening of the sample with a GDH test and, if the result is positive, use of a second test to detect toxins from C.difficile as not all strains of this microorganism produce them.
If you want more information about this , you can visit its product sheet at our website operon.es/gdh-clostridium-dif... and operon.es/2a-bdiff-clostridiu... . We have developed also the possibility of detecting both in a simultaneously way. Want to know how? Take a look at our GDH-Toxins test (operon.es/gdh-toxins/)!

Should change gloves after handling the sample cup. If spores are on the side of the caps edge and you accidentally get them on you, you could end up contaminating everything you touch afterwards.

Good appreciation! The change was not reflected to simplify the video, but it has certainly to be made. From now on, it will be included in the recommendations in order to avoid future misunderstandings. Thank you again!
