    It's rare to find a tips video where actual useful tips are given rather than generic sdvice that everybody knows anyway. Thank you for that!

    Informative as well. Thanks for all you do Mitch. I’m learning a lot from. I’m so glad we are in an age where very minute tips that make a difference in photography is given to us for free on TH-cam. I won’t be mad if your videos become a masterclass 😂. Thanks again Mitch.

    This video was helpful I would say that I prefer the second image over the first one at the end

    Right on. And your last two points actually go together. When I started out, I, too, tried to overcome the camera's limited dynamic range and try to expose everything in the frame perfectly. But then I realized the photographers I really liked used the limited dynamic range to their advantage. They would let shadow be shadow and highlight be highlight.. strategically, of course. You're trying to create an overall effect, not document every last detail in the scene like you're doing forensics.

    I fell victim to bringing out every detail too! I felt like the image wasn't good if everything wasn't exposed for. but I've been learning how limitations breed creativity, and that's the whole point.

    Switching to mirrorless and the view in the EVF: in the beginning I sometimes had perfectly lit photos. But…. Iso 12800 and SS 1/8000 for static subject 😂. So do not look only if the lighting is OK but keep an eye on settings.

    What being metering mode would you recommend underwater

    For portraits, how do you make sure the highlights (for example the sky) are not blown out while getting enough exposure to the subject?

    Great vid Mitch! Do you have any thoughts about the impact of AI, and whether it poses a risk to photography as a career?

    • @MitchLally
      @MitchLally  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it can be an aid to photographers. If you have an idea for a photo you can plug the prompts into midjourney and it will generate a bunch of ideas for composition and lighting. Maybe you could create some kind of content with AI but not all content is able to be created with AI - ie. wedding photograpy, most product photography (new products that don't exist in the database yet), commercial portraits, real estate, etc etc etc.

    Expose for the photo, not for perfection. Takes time to understand that, but once you get it, you never wanna go back

    8:20, I prefer the natural looking one

    When I'm shooting portraits my main priority is my subject. So my subject's face is what I expose for, if the highlights are blown out the highlights are blown out.

    for me i dont shot under expose as long as good exposure for me as long as not too harsh or bright for me its fine i want brighter photos it defend th condition and your editing skill how u to pop up th subject..

    Not me realizing that I have been making all of these mistakes for years...OOPS! 😂👀 Definitley needed to see this!!! Mitch, if you haven't already, would you be able to go over the differences between mirrored and mirrorless cameras while explaining the pros and cons of both? I have a mark iii too, but I have been eyeing on the Sony a7iv and the Canon r6, and I want to learn more about mirrorless cameras.
    P.S. I love your presets! They have been my favorite to work with! Your photos are amazing as always and I can't wait to see more! :) Not sure why it took me so long to come across your channel and Instagram. :O

    Does exposure bracketing have a role in your workflow?

    • @MitchLally
      @MitchLally  ปีที่แล้ว

      No I don’t really aim for a hdr look in my photos which is what exp bracketing I think is really for.
