It depends how you look at it. At the end of the day, movies are products. The theatrical-versions are what studios think a big-enough group of people will be interested in seeing. There's no way a 4-hour R-rated of Justice League would've been approved, because that would've scared most of the consumers away. That can be a good thing. I personally think all the LOTR films are a bit too long, so I don't want even longer versions. At least not in my first viewing, which means the director's cut is an addition to the original film and can't stand on its own.
You'd be surprised how often that's not the case. A lot of times there will be an additional extended cut on top of the "director's cut." I would've removed mabye 10 minutes, but I wouldn't have added another hour of footage. I also don't think that adding footage necessarily makes a movie better. Endgame's deleted scenes after Tony Stark snaps his fingers show him meeting his daughter and the Avengers kneeling towards his body. Both scenes would've felt awkward and would've slowed the pacing. Not to mention we don't even see that version of his daughter (18-years-old) in other parts of the film, so it's an odd place to introduce her.

Great video with 5 very good choices for which a directors cut should get released. I wish the studio would just trust the Director and their vision and let them make the movie they were hired for in the first place. Very excited to see David Ayer’s Suicide Squad getting released in the near future.
I feel so bad for Ayer. The reception of a film that wasn't his, a trailer edited by a trailer studio, and to top it off WB not knowing what they were doing all came together to really ruin Suicide Squad.

It's not like the sequel will tie into the things that happened in the theatrical cut. Releasing a better version of SS will just generate more hype about the new one
My thoughts exactly. I would definitely be interested in seeing “The Ayer Cut” but I don’t think it would make sense for WB from a marketing perspective considering they’ve got a much more anticipated reboot/remake coming out soon with a much more competent crew, so I think their best move would be to just let sleeping dogs lie and focus on what they’re trying to accomplish now with the new film
I'm not sure I follow the logic. They're two different movies from two different directors. Letting us see what David Ayer actually intended doesn't undermine a totally different directors different film.
@@robwizproductions I don't think you can call it a complete reboot when it's in the same franchise, same continuity and contains multiple of the same cast members as the same characters.
The Movie I think that needs a director’s cut is Spider-Man 3 even though this movie is hated there’s still some elements to it that I thought where good. Now everyone looks to the dance sequence but how different is it to the raindrops keep falling on my head sequence. It was just Sam Rami being Sam Rami. However the crew weren’t happy with the original script so there was a whole argument for either Venom was featured in it or not. Now Eddy Brock wasn’t actually that bad of a character for me but when he turns into Venom the whole thing drops. So if Sam Rami is given millions of dollars and the time he needs I would want to see the directors cut for Spider-Man 3
The movie was supposed to be darker with like more horror shit with venom like Eddie fully bonding with the symbiote and his skeleton being pulled out by peter
I find it sad when movies are full of reshoots and changes because the director had a vision and he/she should be allowed to finish that vision unless it is truly a flaming piece of garbage, which it typically isnt.
If anyone's curious I actually have a detailed twitter thread of all the cut/altered Jared Leto Joker scenes we know about so far...and it's LONG The theatrical Joker *does not* represent what Ayer and Leto originally filmed in 2015. He was effectively neutered. Lots of dark stuff was removed, most if not all his scenes were reshot to be less "scary", and he had an actual PURPOSE for being in the story
JJ Abrams cut of Rise Of Skywalker, Dominic Monaghan, Matt Smith, the little Finn Poe romance hints, I don’t think it would be any better, it just sounds interesting.
The best is the studios do not interfere with the final product and let the directors, that they hire, complete their visions with completely creative freedom.
For me, it would be interesting to have directors cuts for both Spider-Man 3, so that we could see Sam Raimi’s original version of the movie without studio interference, and for Iron Man 2, so that we could see Jon Favereu’s original vision of the movie.
I would love to see the amazing spider man 2 director cut cause I would love to see what was the original idea of this movie I kinda wanted to see a sequel to it also

@moamashups It is Sony’s fault. If they didn’t interfere, we would have had one of the best comic book movies and Spider-Man movies ever made after Spider-Man 2 or Into the Spider-Verse.

Hay man, long time big fan, just an idea for when you are looking for a new ranking video: middle east war on terror films, mixed bag of films: Sand castle, green zone, hurt locker, body of lies, etc.
Dark Phoenix considering that was the last X-Men movie they should have gone out with it giving it a 3 hour length recolonize the movie with different levels of red, give it a hard R put the scenes back in from the previews. and they should have used the Hellfire Club. since there was unused concept art of the Hellfire club. I heard the novel version of batman forever by Peter David is the closest to Joel director cut.
I know its not a comic-book film. But, the new Lizzie McGuire. The scripts were approved, the built all the sets, the filmed two episodes. But, Disney+ decided it was "too-adult" after they already read the scripts... and I loved the original show when I was little
I believe Garfield about the Amazing Spiderman 2. It had so much potential, but they tried to shoehorntoo many plot points to set up the sinister six for sequels and ended up ruining the film. Fantastic 4 was good until the midpoint. You can tell they absolutely ruined his film. Suicide Squad too.
We already got 45 minutes of Thanos in that film, he doesn't need more time. It'd just end up throwing the pacing, like the deleted scene in Endgame of Tony Stark meeting his daughter (5 years later) in the orange pool after he snaps his fingers.

Great video with 5 very good choices for which a directors cut should get released. I wish the studio would just trust the Director and their vision and let them make the movie they were hired for in the first place. Very excited to see David Ayer’s Suicide Squad getting released in the near future.
I don’t get how studios haven’t learned this lesson yet. It has exploded in their face time after time
@@ultimateslinger9857 I really don’t get it either. These studios and the executives really need to wake up and use their brain.
You Know what, You Should do another one of those “The Sean Chandler Show” episodes!
Great Video! Going to watch Cody's now
Honestly I'd love to see all these director cuts.
The first Amazing Spider-Man. There were so many great deleted scenes, and I'd love to see the full version.
I kind of want a 4 hour cut of Revenge of the Sith
YESSS
@@robwizproductions Yessir
#05 Dark Phoenix (1:23)
#04 Batman Forever (3:40)
#03 The Amazing Spiderman 2 (5:34)
#02 Fan4tastic (8:34)
#01 Suicide Squad (11:26)
I feel so bad for Ayer. The reception of a film that wasn't his, a trailer edited by a trailer studio, and to top it off WB not knowing what they were doing all came together to really ruin Suicide Squad.
My Five:
1. Suicide Squad - Ayer Cut
2. Batman Forever - Schumaker Cut
3. The Amazing Spiderman 2 - Webb Cut
4. The Amazing Spiderman - Webb Cut
5. Dark Phoenix - Kinberg Cut
As much as I loved James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, I would’ve loved to see David Ayer’s original vision of Suicide Squad.
Also another movie if some deleted scenes could appear on Director Cut version is the movie House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
Could you imagine if Avengers: Endgame had a directors cut? That film would probably be 5 Hours 😂 and then our behinds would be sore for watching it in the theaters 😂🤣
Worth it
@@toxic1strike167 not if it's in theatres. Maybe on streaming. It's supposed to be 6 hours.
@@user-cs1ep6jj2o idk about you but my theaters have loungers and seat warmers, not to mention the fact that I just love spending time in the theater. I agree maybe it would go too long but perhaps they could do an intermission like they did decades ago
@@toxic1strike167 I feel like a 6 part miniseries would be in everyone's best interests.
@@user-cs1ep6jj2o that’s probably smarter now that you mention it lol
JJ Abram's rise of skywalker deserves one
I think a directors cut of Rogue One would be interesting. I don’t think it would be that much better (especially considering the original is pretty great), but there were a lot of trailer shots that weren’t in the movie and I’d like to see how they play into things
If this video does well enough, I plan to do a star wars edition of this video
I’d want to see a Director’s Cut to:
- The Amazing Spider-Man 2
- Suicide Squad
- Batman Forever
- Fant4stic
- Dark Phoenix
- Spider-Man 3
Man, it's crazy how WB were trying to "fix" the DCEU and ended up making it worse. Much, much worse...
Suicide Squad and Fantastic 4 are ones I really agree with. Would love to see those director cuts.
I had so much hope for Fant4stic so maybe if they released the longer cut I'd like it.
For anyone curious about a fan edit that re-edits and restructures Batman Forever to fit Batman Forever’s original darker script (including deleted scenes), check out Batman Forever: The Ultimate Fan Cut
I want Sidney J. Furie’s Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever, Sam Rami’s Spider-Man 3, Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Josh Trank’s Fantastic 4, David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, and Simon Kinberg’s Dark Phoenix.
Didn't even know about Superman IV
12:41 That bit of script with amanda Waller alrrady looks great
Does suicide squad need a director’s cut because they kinda have a sequel coming in August and that will under cut it just saying
It’s not a sequel it’s a complete reboot
You should totally do one about starwars next lol I loved this vid
I find it sad when movies are full of reshoots and changes because the director had a vision and he/she should be allowed to finish that vision unless it is truly a flaming piece of garbage, which it typically isnt.
I’m surprised that you didn’t add Spider-Man 3, it was such a train wreck and was definitely messed up by the company
Love the new haircut! Great vid!
Thanks
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout Anytime man!
If anyone's curious I actually have a detailed twitter thread of all the cut/altered Jared Leto Joker scenes we know about so far...and it's LONG
The theatrical Joker *does not* represent what Ayer and Leto originally filmed in 2015. He was effectively neutered.
Lots of dark stuff was removed, most if not all his scenes were reshot to be less "scary", and he had an actual PURPOSE for being in the story
Sean, imagine getting a Mohawk
I wanna see Sam Raimi’s 3 hour director’s cut of Spider-Man 3!!!
The video I didnt know I needed to see
JJ Abrams cut of Rise Of Skywalker, Dominic Monaghan, Matt Smith, the little Finn Poe romance hints, I don’t think it would be any better, it just sounds interesting.
I was expecting Sam Raimi's Spiderman 3. It wasnt supposed to have Venom
Sam never shot his pre-venom script. The movie that was shot had venom.
Since the Snyder Cut was successful I hope AT&T convinces WB to #releasetheayercut on HBO Max
The best is the studios do not interfere with the final product and let the directors, that they hire, complete their visions with completely creative freedom.
Came over from Cody Leach’s channel! Your a great speaker and this was a good video! Just hit Sub!
For me, it would be interesting to have directors cuts for both Spider-Man 3, so that we could see Sam Raimi’s original version of the movie without studio interference, and for Iron Man 2, so that we could see Jon Favereu’s original vision of the movie.
@moamashups cool!
We don't need a directors cut of Suicide Squad especially with the new The Suicide Squad movie coming out the trailer looks promising
I would love to see the amazing spider man 2 director cut cause I would love to see what was the original idea of this movie I kinda wanted to see a sequel to it also
Interested in Batman Forever: Dark edition
Tasm 3
TASM 2 (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) deserves a director’s cut.
Mark Webb needed to be left alone, making his movie. The deleted scenes make the movie much better and have much more emotional scenes, as well as stuff that explains everything. And if Andrew Garfield comes back, then I want to see him have more Spider-Man movies. #ReleaseTheWebbCut.
@moamashups It is Sony’s fault. If they didn’t interfere, we would have had one of the best comic book movies and Spider-Man movies ever made after Spider-Man 2 or Into the Spider-Verse.
@moamashups I agree
@moamashups Yes
the number one movie that comes to mind for these is the rise of sky walker. the original script was a gritty more warish film that sounds so much better
Thing is duel of fates was never shot.
2:00 Yep, its always Fox
Hay man, long time big fan, just an idea for when you are looking for a new ranking video: middle east war on terror films, mixed bag of films: Sand castle, green zone, hurt locker, body of lies, etc.
Cool video & idea Sean!
Not sure if this counts as much, but Sam Raimi had issues with Sony over Spider-man 3. I wonder how his vision would have played out
Isn’t there a rumor that there is an extra half-hour of Infinity War with Thanos backstory, because if so that’d be my #1
THAT QOULD BE AMAZING TO SEE
WOULD*
We already got 45 minutes of Thanos in that film, he doesn't need more time. It'd just end up throwing the pacing, like the deleted scene in Endgame of Tony Stark meeting his daughter (5 years later) in the orange pool after he snaps his fingers.
PllZz. Be truuu😍
@@magic75450 that’s what makes it an extended cut. Pacing is always thrown off in ZSJL but that’s why it’s an extended version of what Zacks original 3-hour cut was going to be
I think I would like to see the original vision for Spider-Man 3
Rise of skywalker needs the Trevorrow cut!
The whole sequel trilogy needs Lucas cut)
Am I the only one who wants a Kong:Skull Island directors cut?
It was criticized for the characters, but the thing is-over an hour was trimmed from the story
The amazing spider-man 1 and Thor the dark world also need a directors cut.
I feel bad for the amazing spider-man movies, they get a bad rep, but I enjoy them
