I'm pretty sure saving the people was then point of concern rather than preserving the entire building, but point taken. She didn't need to blast that wall to beat that guy, so I'll grant you that.
The best interaction between Batman and the Joker is in the Harley Quinn episode where Joker complains that he put a deposit down on an electric car promised by WayneTech that Bruce failed to deliver on.
People complained about Flash being cringey comic relief in the Joss cut but then Zack adds a prolonged slow-mo sequence of him plucking hotdogs out of the air and drooling over a woman he just met while she is mid car-crash and moments away from a violent death which adds absolutely nothing to the story.
Did Joss give Barry the personality of Wally West? Yes. Did the best adaption of the DCU ever made, the DCAU, also do that? Yes, to the point that later they retconned him to be Wally. He was supposed to be Barry in Superman TAS, but they just kept writing Wally. Why? Because Barry Allen doesn't have a personality. He is _boring_ beyond belief. Barry Allen has one fan: Geoff Johns. Imagine a Flash who isn't cringe. Congrats, you have a generic speedster, or Barry. Wally West is the only good Flash, but one of the higher ups is the only Barry Allen fan, so you have to slap Barry's name and rough life story down for Geoff to not start crying and vomiting and screaming, but the only way for him not to be the most boring thing ever is to inject Wally's "actually having a personality".
@@PosthumanHeresy it's amazing how you can carry on a whole conversation just by yourself by asking and then answering your own questions, you must be fun at parties.
Let's not forget the scene in Man of Steel where Zach was: "Hey kids, you like Jimmy Olsen? I made him kind of a badass and this could get interesting...*gun blast*...just kidding."
Actually that scene was in Batman vs Superman but only in the extended edition is agent named Jimmy Olsen in the better theatrical version the agent isn’t named
The moustache cut is actually 6 hours long by itself. All of the extra material is slow motion close ups of moustaches with different characters doing monologues about facial hair. I thought the Wonder Woman monologue (the first and third ones in particular) about her own moustache was the best. Affleck's was a bit weak
The Whedon thing is so disappointing because I LOVE Buffy, I love Angel, I love Firefly and Serenity and I love the first Avengers movie. To hear the guy is a total asshole, well, that sucks.
And if I go back and watch an old Buffy or Angel BTS documentary, or Whedon commentary track from back in the TV days, the quips and snark out of his mouth now has a darker tone to them.
The interstellar Zoom calls made me laugh, because at about the third time Steppenwolf makes that call, the guy on the other end was asking "Why is this taking so long?" And honestly, I agree.
The "Save one person" line is the only thing I enjoyed in Justice League. It's the one part that feels like a Superhero dialogue. A hardened hero teaching a young and insecure one a lesson through a simple but powerful phrase. Well, I lied, I also liked the Bat-Spider-Robot-Tank from the sewer scene, but that's because because giant robots are awesome.
Right? I also loved when Aquaman sat on WWs lasso and "shared his feelings!" That was awesome, funny, developed the characters and powers..." but no instead we get weird sweater sniffing Midsommar sh%% outta nowhere.
Oh right, thanks for reminding me that Ben Affleck's Batman is supposed to be an experienced superhero -- even though he'd never heard of Superman until Lex Luthor told him and he fantasizes about leading kill squads with assault rifles, also using an assault rifle, because Batman loves guns in the Zack Snyder universe. "Martha is your mother's name?! Martha is my mother's name!! I won't kill you now!!"
Also that kid can't become Wonder Woman. She has sent that girl on a path to try and achieve an unattainable goal. You could almost link that moment as a flashback at the beginning of Wonder Woman and have the kid grow up to Barbara Minerva and you keep her storyline basically the same. No matter what she achieves through the use of her intellect she's jealous she isn't Wonder Woman so she wishes to be as strong as her. Fits quite well I think.
The theatrical movie also doesn't have the weird ass scene (slo-mo of course), of Aquaman walking into the ocean during a village singing him a dirge and some rando sniffing his shirt. WTF? Plus fans of the Snyder Cut seem to forget that the WB was very close to firing Snyder over the dailies that were coming out from this movie. They hated what he was doing, were worried that the movie wouldn't be able to be edited into something watchable. The Snyder cut showed that their fears were justified.
The singing and shirt sniffing were super odd and cringe. I also hated the introduction opening scene with superman yelling out in SLO mo, it just didn't feel right and all the camera panning felt amateurish.
Today I turned off the sound in hopes of tolerating the theatrical cut enough to finish the movie. It didn't work. The sequences were just a mess with nothing visually leading one scene to another. Stopped watching after Aquaman's introduction. I tried that with the TH-cam clip of the Snyder Cut. (First ten minutes of the film.) Same problem except that was more of a drag and it was so dim.
Bruce was so disinterested in that last encounter with Martian Manhunter that I almost thought he’d pull one of those sarcastic fake snores right there just to tease the latter
One of the more humorous criticisms I've seen of the Snyder cut is that Wonder Woman goes through all this effort to stop a terrorist bomb explosion, and then proceeds to blow out the entire side of a building.
In her defence ya'll are comparing 3 or 4 different universes to Snyder's, the Snyderverse isn't like the MCU where the dont kill and everything is black and white, WW will kill a mfer if she has to, now if you think about it THEY ALL KILL
@@yikes313 sure. IF THEY HAVE TO! One of the major instances in the comics of Wonder Woman killing someone is when she kills Max Lord. She does so only after she has disabled the controlled Superman she had been fighting. She gives Max a chance to stand down. He refuses. She asks him under the control of her lasso how to stop him. He says "Kill me". That was the only way to stop him. So, with a renewed Superman bearing down on her, she does. She doesn't mash people into pulp because it's more convenient.
@@menghao737 she shows she can move in bullet time she didn’t need to blow up the side of the building and there’s no way it doesn’t hurt or kill people as it literally goes past them. The worse part is the fact she stops to smile in front of the kids in a feel good moment like she didn’t just obliterate someone right in front of them. It’s not a nitpick it’s part of a larger problem with Zack Snyder
What do you expect!? Weather it be in movies or video games or shows there’s a hero who had killed people including civilians but it’s mostly by accident.
Correction. CW has 2 better Supermen. 3, if you include Tom Welling. Also, Henry Cavill has the potential to be a great Superman if only Zack Snyder would let him use his natural charisma and inject some humanity into the character.
Agreed on all counts. In the few fleeting moments of the theatrical cut of Justice League where Supes shows some humanity, Cavill is fine. Not great, because he's still kinda playing the same gloomy, joyless version of the character he's been playing since Man of Steel, but you see glimmers of a good Superman in there somewhere.
It would also be nice if we could not skip over Snyder’s embrace of Jared Leto. And the many times Leto has been accused of sexually assaulting women and underage girls. That might be good.
I love Martian Manhunter, but his presence in the Snyder Cut angers me. Him being in the movie means he was completely aware of the threat Earth was facing and did NOTHING to help. After seeing how well the Justice League animated series and Supergirl handled the character, it hurts even more to see the Snyder Cut do him this dirty.
Critics like a Zack Sniyder film: Fanboys: "See, he's a Genius!" Critics dislike a Zack Sniyder film: Fanboys: "They're all paid haters conspiring to topple the king!"
Everyone seems to have forgotten that before Zack had to step down they showed a version of his cut that was apparently "unwatchable". In their haste to catch up to Marvel they gave themselves no time to reflect on where the series was headed so they were stuck with Zack Snyder purely because they'd already told everyone these films were coming out and if they pushed them back Marvel would have an even bigger lead. They were pretty much unbeatable by then so I don't know why they didn't take a break and figure things out. It's their own fault this all happened. For a studio that's been around so long they've made some pretty major mistakes that a studio that's managed to survive so long shouldn't still be making. Get it together WB. Maybe after AT&T is gone things will change.
I'd be willing to bet that the "Snydercut" wasn't even a Snyders original finished idea, no, what he did was sit back, watch and listen to the fans and the critics tear apart Whedons version, and then do everything humanly possible to distance himself from said film by going so far as to say he had the "Snydercut" ready to go, just needed WB to greenlite it. He then called the actors for re-shoots, bs, and new scenes. He then takes the OG footage, combines it with the new, "re-hoot photos," and makes the Snydercut! THE Snydercut was not some ZS masterpiece ruined by Whedon and WB, no, the Snydercut was the result of ZS remaking the OG JL movie but with a cheat sheet of exactly what the fans liked, hated, and characters, small parts, but parts they would use to set up future movies and scenarios for films the fans wanted toy see made Now, don't get me wrong, movie makers should ABSOLUTELY listen to the fans. Otherwise, u gonna lose those fans u got, BUT, the amount of praise ZS has allowed to be showered onto himself for having a cheat sheet, is such a narcissistic move.
@@eddieboncek2447 the Snyder cut was rough cut put through final production there was no magical ready for theaters cut version Warner even said they only had the rough cut of his work and us viewers don’t normally see that cut of it movie
My biggest problem with the Snyder cut and all of the DCEU movies Zack Snyder directed is how Superman is represented. I probably would have enjoyed the Snyder cut if Superman was restored to his true character in the movie, but he isn't. I do believe that Cyborg, Flash, Aquaman, Steppenwolf, Wonder Woman, and Batman are improved in the Snyder cut, but Superman is most definitely not improved. The theatrical cut at least gave Superman more of his humanity, but the Snyder cut stripped Superman of more of his humanity while setting him up to be earth's greatest enemy. Zack Snyder just doesn't get Superman at all.
My favorite moment from the theatrical cut is when Flash tries to run behind aggro Superman and Superman starts to turn his head in the slo mo. It was a cool moment. In the Snyder cut, it definitely didn't hit the same at all. Slo mo is a seasoning, and Snyder went all Salt Bae on that
It sucks because I absolutely love Watchmen, but I can’t connect with his vision of the DCEU. Just because somebody made a delicious pizza, doesn’t necessarily mean they can make a great steak
'I find TH-cam movie critics who do nothing but rant about how terrible everything is to be just as phony and performative and boring s those reactors who jump and holler like a prehistoric human seeing fir for the first time' Hey, I resemble that remark!!!!!!!!!
There is so much here I completely agree with. The Iris West scene was pointless. It was a "hey look, it's Iris" moment, that added nothing to either Iris or the Flash. Did she come back? Maybe she worked at Star Labs and that is why Flash enters the fight? Nope, nothing. Goodbye Iris, see you in Flashpoint, maybe. I loved that "Save one" moment between Batman and Flash as it not only showed character development with Flash but also with Batman, who was a shitty character in the last one. Batman mentoring another person, after going off the deep end when his former protégé was killed by the Joker, is an important moment for Batman. To add insult to injury, they replace it with a forgettable line from Batman that I'm not even sure Ben Affleck delivered. Superman actually was shown to give a shit about people in the theatrical cut, but doesn't have any humanizing qualities in the Snyder cut. And yes, I fully agree, CW's Superman and Lois has a much better Superman, because he actually cares about people and is trying to balance his work with his family. He feels like a cocky god in DCEU, he feels like a man in CW. I slightly disagree on Cyborg. Yes, he is used to provide exposition a lot, but there is character work that is great. However, it is unnecessary for this movie. Had there been a solo Cyborg movie where they fleshed out the character, that probably would have been enjoyable. I loved the Martha and Lois scene, it showed two people bonding over losing someone they both loved (though honestly, the chemistry between Amy Adams and Henry Cavill is almost non existent), then they completely ruin the moment with a completely unnecessary Martian Manhunter reveal. On a final note, the whole "Best Batman/Joker interaction on screen" thing is bull. Bat in the Sun's fan movie Dying is Easy runs circles around Zack Snyder's attempt at a movie. Though
yeah, the Iris West scene adds basically nothing. and honestly, this whole film felt more like a Cyborg movie than a Justice League movie. he's the only one that really gets a complete arc
As a lifelong comic book dork, I'm pretty lucky to have always greatly favored Marvel's books and characters. Although I know how DC fans must feel about these films, because I just got through about 20 years of TERRIBLE X-Men films. It's not just how unsuccessfully the films captured the tone and spirit of those stories and characters. It's the way they've shaped public perception of what those stories and characters are.
i understand characters and movies to some extent you preferring marvel, but for me i can’t see how people prefer the marvel books. tbf a lot of dcs best work is just batman lmao
@@tomwwfc_7008 Honestly that’s exactly my problem with DC, it’s so dry with content that isn’t Batman, especially with the new movie being as successful as it is.
The X-Men films weren't terrible. They were a mixed bag. Sometimes you got Oscar level acting/storytelling then in other instances you got everything else. You can't say Fox never took risks. I can tell you rn, had Deadpool and Wolverine been owned by Disney we would have NEVER gotten Logan or Deadpool 1 and 2.
As a lifelong comic book reader I just can't get on that wavelength. In the late-'80s and '90s DC comics were fun, the characters were fun, but it seemed that the X-Men were nothing but doom and gloom all the time, fighting a never successful never-ending battle against a never seen larger society. Hey, maybe that's how black Americans felt about their circumstances, but if you weren't one of them, well, I'm not, it simply didn't resonate. Compared with the original comic strip superhero who went from a white saviour ruling the natives to having to answer to a black president and all written by only one author, no "new generation" required.
You know what the Snyderverse is/was? It’s like doing Iron Man but when you get to Iron Man 2 you go “eh, fuck it, let’s do the plot of CACW instead” and the next entry after that is a bloated composite version of both Infinity War and Endgame. I mean, how would you feel if in the latter two films were were supposed to care about Wanda, Vision, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and all the rest even if they were only introduced within those films
If you watched both on the same day, then it took you over 6 hours, so yes it DID ruin your day! (I should've listened first, ok you watched on two separate days.)
Is there a way I can agree with the "toxic Snyder-stans bullying WB into the Snyder cut" slam... while still loving how the movie "Serenity" came into being? If not, I'll just be irrational, and that's fine.
It is fine. Serenity was a conclusion to a story cancelled for no reason at all. The Snyder Cut... exists because fans didn't like what they got before and wanted another movie.
the only toxic really toxic fans tend to be the nes calling others toxic in my experience. IT would be cool if we could just disagree without demonizing.
The Snyder cut is a prime reminder that scenes get cut from movies for a reason, otherwise we'll get more 4 hour long pretentious over-bloated self indulgant crap.
I really appreciate the sentiment of walking away from Snyder DC after BvS. I didn’t make it that far, personally. Man of Steel was probably the most angered I’ve been at a comicbook movie since X3, and felt to me like it was a movie by people who hate Superman for people who hate Superman.
I agree. Though it had some good bits in it, I felt like I wasn't watching a superman movie. It was like I was watching a movie made by someone who didn't understand superman...
Fun. Fact the only reason Snyder was the director was because after 8-9 other directors the producers went to were either busy or uninterested. And he was the only one who said yes.
@@incognito_x75I felt Snyder understood Superman but didn’t want to gloss over his journey to becoming the big blue Boy Scout we know him to be like Superman the movie did in 1978 with the fortress scene also man of steel doesn’t feel like it’s settling up a whole cinematic universe but like a start to a new series of Superman movies I hard in between man of steel and Batman vs Superman Warner decided to make it the start of a cinematic universe even though the actual movie isn’t setting one up
@@kevin10001 that’s definitely not the impression I got. I got the impression that Snyder and his screenwriters et al looked at Superman and decided that he was lame and boring, so they decided their Superman would be angsty. Edgy. Brooding. Unapproachable. Quick to violence. Because that’s cool and hip and radical. Superman never needed to learn how to be kind. He was raised to be kind. He didn’t need to learn how to care about everybody, from the most ordinary of civilians to the most dangerous of villains. He was raised to care about everybody. This is a Superman who when he saves his classmates, his dad said “you probably should have let them die to protect yourself”. And that makes him fundamentally flawed from the core. It’d be like if they made a Spider-Man movie in which Uncle Ben said “screw responsibility, use your great power to make your life better no matter the cost!”.
You're speaking my language here...... I thought I was the only one who saw his Randian influence in Snyder's body of work...... He just doesn't get who Superman is. It's like he is purposely being contrarian and making Superman the opposite of what we know about him....
The only reason Snyder cut received so much praises is because there was a Josstice League first. They are both mediocre to be honest. Sure, Snyder cut explains everything more thoroughly, but I agree with you that the trim was necessary. I would be furious after spending 4 hours watching slow motion in the movies. To sum up my experience with Snyder cut: I had a whole conversation with my friends on multiple topics while watching, then came back to the movie and missed nothing. It was that boring!
Speaking of Snyder movies that glorify the objectively terrible, as a historian I fucking hate The 300. Setting aside the absurdities of its orc-like villains and ten foot tall primary antagonist, the movie glorifies a truly inhuman, monstrous group of people. The Spartans were in reality authoritarian, child-murdering, eugenicists and pedophiles, yet the movie paints them as tragic heroes. Meanwhile, the film paints the Persians as sub-human degenerates in a profoundly racist way, when in reality the Persian empire was objectively less bad than not only the Spartans, but the Greeks of that era in general. The movie takes the tale of Thermopylae, which was already an exaggerated piece of ancient propaganda, and further distorts the historical reality.
Truth be told, thats not Snyder's fault, he only adapted what Frank Miller did, of course discussing Miller Is touchy to say the least specially Holy Terror, ill vive you that yes Snyder Is obssesed with Millers work, thats why he only seems to adapt Dark Knight Returns but as he did with Moore's Watchmen he mostly adapts the visuals without room for nuance or context
@@DerezzedMan sorry but thats your opinion. yes it does. the slow motions, the *slow* songs, the time they waste to show us an arrow has being shoot, the time they waste to show alfred's teaching a 5000 years old single woman how to make tea, bruce's mountain journey, desaad and steppenwolf's expositions. this movie feels more than 4 hours
@Tahsin Karim i dont need a complex mindset to tell, those scenes are fucking unnecessary garbages. character building and interaction moments ? whose character has builded in those ear rape wonder woman theme and minutes long slow motions ? what kind of important interaction happened when amazons throw that fucking arrow or when alfred teaches diana how to put tea? Main reason I prefer the theatrical cut: If the movie is going to be bad at least make it short. And thanks for calling out the toxic fan bullshit. Now we have all the toxic fans of other franchises ranting, throwing temper tantrums, and bullying everyone around them expecting to get their way for it.
@Denavio Leeks They will continue hating on anything DC that doesn't have Snyder plastered all over it until the universe implodes. Meanwhile the rest of everyone forgot about the Snyder cut and moved on 11 minutes after turning it off.
@@curly_wyn Most people forgot about it 2 minutes after watching it. The only ones who still give a shit about it and are bullying WB into throwing away all their plans to crawl back to Snyder, are the same toxic shit heads who bullied WB to waste 70 millions on a movie people didn't like the first time anyways in the first place. And yes "bullied" is the correct word to describe those people's behavior.
The direction these Superman movies went in was kinda bad. Here's another way they could have done it. Movie 1: Last Son of Krypton. Keep Zod as your villain, have it be about Superman revealing himself to the world to stop Zod from conquering the Earth, and adjust to his new role as Earth's saviour even though he was not born here. Movie 2: Man of Steel. Have Brainiac be your mastermind, while Metallo is his foot soldier. This will help cement Superman's place, showing him as a powerhouse that can be relied upon. Not just his physical stature, but his spirit and morality as well. Movie 3: Man of Tomorrow. This is where Lex Luthor is your villain. Play into the idea that he's concerned for the future of humankind if it relies upon Superman too much. What if he turns on us? What if he dies one day? Leaves us helpless and unaware of how to take care of ourselves anymore. This is to challenge Superman's motivation, why he does what he does, and whether his role on Earth is good and just after all. I feel that a trilogy set around that dynamic would be more intrinsically interesting - and each villain would also be a suitable match for the movie's title, each of which is a known nickname for Superman that we have seen for decades. What do you guys think? I don't have more details than that, but it could have been a better direction than what we got.
well presented Iain, I'd have preferred this Superman roll out- much more paced that plopping Doomsday and the "Death of Superman" into the 2nd movie of this version of Superman (which took Literally DECADES to set up in the comics, but no, slam it in as fast as possible)
I think we should have got solo Superman films after MOS but we're not likely gonna get them now for there's no talk, no interest or any wheels turning on trying to get another solo Superman movie with Cavill, for all intents the mixed to negative reactions to Snyder's films have killed all hopes of more Superman movies with Cavill.
Dude anything could have a better direction than what we got. Only one standalone movie, the next one have it a versus where they introduce another character AND kill him, THEN have the next one resurrect him? Just a big mess.
Ultimately, letting a libertarian run the DCEU was the height of idiocy. Snyder is the Frank Miller of movies and DC somehow made the ASBAR Cinematic Universe.
If DC would stop taking themselves so damn seriously for once they could use Cavill to do the True Brit storyline. It could be epic. But no. Gotta live that edgelord life.
The fans are actually worse. Whether they are trying to jam down the superiority of their favourite movie or trying to sound cool by using out of date terms like edgelords.
I love the Fleischer Superman shirt! I’ve been watching those animated shorts a lot lately. Lois had more to do, and was much better than the Lois in any of the Snyderverse films. And that was 1941 and only 10 minutes long! I have always thought that Lois in the Fleischer films was so much more of a character. She literally hopped into a flying robot to find out who was stealing all the gems lol
Did you note that among the DVDs behind Steve was a set of George Reeves' _Adventures of Superman_ ? (Six seasons were made, I think some DVD sets had 2 seasons; mine are put away at the moment or I could tell you for sure). Lois was rather busy in that show, too, and from time to time Clark was revealed to have rather romantic feelings for her. Probably Teri Hatcher's Lois was the most active version, but her name was first, so... 😊😎
@@debbys-abqnm4537 oh idk how i missed those behind Steve! Lol but you’re so right, Lois always was planning something or meeting with a source or using a clever trick to get out of a sticky situation. In that 50s show she definitely was sharp, a bit sassy and not afraid to take on the bad guys herself. I think the new show Superman and Lois has been pretty good with how it’s writing Lois. It doesn’t feel like an arrow verse show or a CW show. She’s back to being the investigative reporter and the stuff she deals with family and kid wise is something I’m happy to see from her character. It’s the best I’ve seen her portrayed in a long time. But yeah you’re right too- Lois’ top billing definitely made her the focus of Lois and Clark lol
I saw a STAMP PROMOTION episode of the George Reeves series where Lois snarks constantly, outwits her kidnapper, and only acts smug when superman comes in to save the day.
As Honest Trailers pointed out, they even used the slow speed when Lois just puts down her coffee cup. I will say, from what I heard, it does sounds like it gave Steppenwolf a better, more fleshed out motivation than the theatrical cut. Still, my fear that this is all duping people into thinking Snyder is a quality filmmaker. Like, I've seen video titles that have made me kind of nauseous in how far some are taking their praise.
I’d still give it a watch, no movie is for everyone which is why there will always be ppl who love and hate things. Zack surprised me here. For me he smashed the DC formula w a balance of humour, build up, tension, action and character development. If u hate it then u hate it, but everything deserves a chance uno
To say Snyder is a quality filmmaker is very subjective. He is no better a filmmaker than Michael Bay or any other director or action and horror. That's not a bad thing. But to say that he is as great as Spielberg, Tarkovsky, or Kubrick is absurd.
Superman and Lois is doing what I was hoping to see in the comics after rebirth with young John Kent. Hopefully Jor El won't come to Earth, kidnap their sons only to come back a few weeks later fully aged up as adults.
Snyder is a hack. He keeps directing stinkers, and keeps getting director roles with WB. Whedons cut was bad but let’s not forget, the Snyder cut is still the same as Whedons cut just 4 hours of BS. Stephen wolf is still a cgi cartoon of a mess, so the premise is the same just with more filler by Snyder. Why would anyone want to watch filler of a bad movie? Snyder fans really have no taste.
Cyborg in Justice League was a huge failure. The Snyderverse in general does a shit job of presenting characters that resemble the world famous IP of DC Comics
Film. The final frontier. These are the voyages of the reviewer Steve Shives. His five-year mission: To explore strange new genres. To seek out new films and new filmmakers. To boldly go where no reviewer has gone before.
I do agree with you, and I would add this, why is it every time someone brings out Batman or Superman they do an origin story. I also agree that you’ve got to like the characters. But the actors also have to be convincing in the roles, only Gal Gadot & Jason Mamoa convinced me, none of the others did. Man of Steel, Batman v Superman & Justice League were bad because they were each a group of ideas thrown together to make a film
I’m a big fan of the Snyder cut, and honestly I thought I wouldn’t like this video. But this review is amazing, and don’t let the toxic fans get to you.
The fundamental problem with the DCEU and especially the Snydercut, is that DC tried to leapfrog over 3 or 4 films to get to an “Avengers” type team-up film... before establishing Flash, Cyborg, and some of the main exposition points better served in their own films. We wouldn’t need half of the character moments (thin as they are) in the Snydercut if there were films building up these characters ahead of time (e.g. Cyborg should have had his own film, establishing both his character arc and providing dramatic moments to explain the Mother Boxes... not have that info-dumped onto the audience). Then we add in all of Zach Snyder’s bullshit (overuse of slow-mo especially) and we get this mess. Great review, agreed 110%. The best films DC has done recently bear little to no relation to a shared universe: Joker, the Suicide Squad, the Batman... better they do that than trying to leapfrog up to Marvel.
If you say so. He certainly wasn't in charge of any conflict. In fact, I'm convinced he had a lot more influence in the first Wonder Woman than give credit for.
As I've always said, the DCEU on TV is the best version of it - the cinematic movies have largely been hit or miss - Justice League was mess and I too think the Snyder Cut didn't 'fix' anything - it was just a drawn out mess. Watching you do a thirty minute self-therapy session venting on these movies. And am loving it :)
I'd propose the DCAU is still the superior Justice League depiction. It's fun, exciting, funny, it juggles a multitude of characters, and it has iconic scenes you can quote from.
That rant at the end was truly passion personified. I really can't say anything you haven't said already. ZS is a mediocre edgelord whose idea of movies is mindlessly bashing around action figures with no regard for narrative or character. Like you said, at the end of the day, between the two editions, I'd pick the theatrical cut. Neither of them are great, and that's because they were built on shaky foundations. There was never any universe where we could have gotten a decent movie out of it. No, if ZS had been kept on for the theatrical release, we would've just gotten an edited down version of the 4 hr cut, and it would've been as mediocre as Whedon's take. Maybe ZS would've argued for keeping it at least three hours long. Doesn't matter. All he had to add was padding and filler. People think it's shocking that the theatrical cut was edited down from over four hours of footage. They don't know that pretty much every movie could be way longer if you throw in all the crap that should be thrown away. The ZS version just adds back in all that garbage along with endless slow mo. How can you listen to a guy say that a Batman movie isn't dark because Batman wasn't r*ped in prison and think he's a good guy? How can you listen to a guy say his passion project is an Ayn Rand adaptation and think he's a good guy? At the very least, you have to admit there's something wrong in his head. I'm kind of glad he's off making terrible movies for Netflix, but I'm also mad that in today's content hungry world, there's a place to land for guys like him in the first place. PS: I loved the Superman tee, and here's hoping we get the first truly great Superman film since the 1978 movie.
Consider these scenarios: 1) Richard Donner's Superman flies down and lands in a school yard full of kids and teachers. How would they react? 2) Zack Snyder's Superman flies down and lands in a school yard full of kids and teachers. How would they react? That's exactly what's wrong with Zack Synder's Superman.
Growing up on George Reeves, Filmation Superman & Superboy, Super Friends and Silver Age plus Bronze Age DC comics, Chris Reeve had a lot to live up to heartwise when it came out. But it made me feel like I'd actually somehow looked through a window into the real Superman's world and actually seen him. So he raised the bar unbelievably high. Yet, I was still able to enjoy the live Superboys and Lois & Clark and even Routh's (though especially in Crisis). And Tim Daley's cartoon felt right at home along my childhood comics and Reeve. But Cavil's Superman just depressed me. That's quite a feat. And he kept letting me down with each appearance (though no judgements; he's an actor doing the role he was paid and directed to play). So, for the DCU to pull me in he's either got to be completely (classically) revamped or Micheal Keaton's Batman's return needs to be completely on point with his 1st two Batman movies. Here 's keeping my fingers crossed. As a DC fan, its no fun disliking modern DC things.
The pen on the t-shirt collar is a style choice. I think that, Snyder, like Bay, is a great cinematographer and could be an asset to a director with a better handle on plot, characterization and pacing.
I think Michael Bay proved his directorial ability with Pain and Gain. He's not a good person and apparently a monster to work with (like Whedon), but I don't think anybody else could have made Pain and Gain with the singular vision he had. The movie really makes you feel his utter contempt for humanity, without directly morally condemning the characters like a more "serious" director would have done.
I mean to be fair whedon was the one that made the avengers movie which was actually a pretty massive success. Sure he ruined this movie but don't forget that Zack snyder has made allot of movies as well that people didn't like quite allot
We agree completely on the DECU (Shazam was great!) and Synder's corner of it. But I'm happy for the fans who somehow liked Man of Steel and BVS, and wanted this. I find saying that they "bullied" WB into doing it an odd choice of words - they had no power over WB except that WB saw the opportunity to make some money.
Problem is, is that the fans think they won their battle to get what they wanted, but what actually happened was WB took advantage of an opportunity to get some "exclusive" already in the can content produced for their just launched streaming service which had nothing being produced due to lockdowns.
@@plkrtn. Not exactly a new problem. Fans have “won” over studios in other bring back scenarios when in fact it’s just the corporation recognizing there is money to be made. This is the case from Star Trek all the way to the expanse and every property in between. To think otherwise is to delude yourself.
"Great art needs a great audience" Forget who said that, but, as with music, sculpture, etc, the use of computers in film has us in a situation where, until the general populace understands ~to some degree~ the processes by which contemporary popular art are being brought to them, they won't be able to discern between art made by people who love humanity and bought-and-paid-for, shiney-surfaced, mean-spirited, mastabatory propaganda made by self-righteous spoiled brats, that leaves unsuspecting audiences feeling "wowed"(on the surface), but despairing and raging underneath.
Ironically the best Superman on film the last decade or so has been Chris Evan's portrayal of Steve Rogers in the MCU. I'm all for tweaking characters and directors putting their own spin on them, but Snyder's interpretation of Superman is baffling.
Yeah your right, everything Chris Evans Captain America was shown thats how Superman should have been I’ll probably gonna get hated for this, even the 2017 Superman was represented better than in any Snyder Movies
I find funny how, when BvS and Man of Steel came out, everybody hated Zack Snyder, like for real, there was a lot of people (reasonably) harshly criticizing him, but since he had to leave Justice League because of the tragic death of his daughter, everybody seemed to turn around and suddenly love him, and it kinda stayed that way, independent of how shitty his movies were
> Wonder woman tries to stop a terrorist bomb explosion > Proceeds to blow up the entire side of the building possible killing the police under the building > "Best superhero movie ever"
Zack Snyder is an amazing cinematographer who can frame and shoot a beautiful scene. He doesn't understand story. He's too enamored of the 80's gritty comics. He's shit at being a director. The Snyder cut proved it.
I think WB were kind of right when you look at a lot of the stuff they cut out to fit the 2 hour running time so little of it actually mattered or was actually that good. I liked seeing Iris and the Atom but you didn’t need those scenes. Cyborg’s back story you didn’t need all of those scenes. I do think if you edited together both cuts there is a good 2 and a half hour film. Batman using Lois as the final plan to calm down Superman is brilliant but her just happening to be in the area is stupid.
One thing that really bothers me about the snyderverse crap fests is that snyder doesnt know how to film batman. In burton and nolan movies they use creative camera work and lighting to add mystique or make hum look more imposing. In the snyderverse he just looks like a regular guy in an ugly costume.
I have readed many comments and I must say that i'm kind of shocked because they are not from Snydertards throwing shit at you, which made me wonder how is to really be in that fandom and how far they go with their intensity. The reason why I say it is because I live in latin america and the community that backs up the Snyder cut here is pretty much a pain in the ass. Seriously. They often address it as if it were a movie made by a genious.
The only thing I genuinely enjoyed was my own head canon wherein Martha Kent IS the Martian Manhunter, which is why she could relate to young Clark better and also why Jonathan Kent was struggling so much.
@@nubworthycigars6682 I have a serious question does The Dark Knight Returns actually mean anything anymore? We’ve had 30 years of Batman on film and nearly every iteration has been dark and brooding and tried to be socially relevant. What made TDKR so impactful is that it took the character seriously. I don’t think an audience would see much of a difference.
Snyder needs to do the Punisher if he wants to do a superhero movie. It's the character that he could do that both suits his strengths and beliefs, and wouldnt have to be butchered to benefit from his approach
@@c17sam90 What TDKR had that was most impactful was the horde of fanboys and """""""creators""""""" missing the fucking point, and trying to emulate (or demand said emulations) of the aesthetics and superficial elements, miss all the character archs and everything, and so create a pathetic shell of an emulation.
You know what turns me off from Snyder's cut the most? "Motherboxes were afraid of superman, they knew Stephen Wolf couldn't beat him, they only woke up after he died".... Right after showing us that Martian Manhunter is on Earth already, free and fully capable. MM, the guy who is literally superman + telephaty - the mighty of fanboys and the marketing department and management (that don't understand that underselling and downplaying your characters just to artificially push your flagship character that promotes himself is dumb; it promotes itself already, it doesn't need the push, but the other one could use one). And I really wanna believe this happens before the wizard picked Billy as his champion (though the Wizard was literally just there, then again guy doesn't even bother to stop a regular human from waltzing into his crib and stealing shit so I guess I can let it pass). I kid, ofc. That just piss me off a lot. What turns me off the most is that the characters just carry the name of comic book characters, DCAU had a much better "no need for solo movies for everyone" intro of the JL, and, above all else, all the Ayn Randianism infesting everything in a Snyde movie, this no exception.
If there are still unanswered questions after a 4 hour film, the director failed. Why was manhunter even in the movie? Why would Wonder Woman go out her to blow up a building she just prevented from blowing up? Why didn't Darkseid just step through and beat axx if he knows the only thing he wants is there? Why did flash groom a stranger's hair? Why.... because it looks cool, doesn't make sense, but it looks cool 🤦🏾♂️
lol you forgot the amazon queen Hippolyta bury her fellow amazons alive knowing steppen wolf can either use a boom tube to teleport or just simply jump out of harms way which is exactly what he does in the film.
@@cool2314 The sad part - from Snyder fans defending this madness - is that Whedon recognized what was wrong and changed it. But Snyder put it back. Like a hard head fool who you can’t talk sense into. Zack: *No!* Don’t have WonderWoman’s mom kill her own troops - and for NOTHING! While she runs away with the box - to *nowhere* - on horseback - trapped on an island! Noooo…lol. Zack Snyder fans have actually tried to argue that she didn’t know she was killing her troops when she did that. It’s so bad….they LIE about what they just saw.
All those questions have the same answer: Sequel baiting, because Batman v Superman didn't have enough sequel baiting enough already Snyder had to triple down on shoehorning even more sequel baiting on top of it even when knowing WB already moved on from his garbage universe and the Snyder's cut isn't even canon. And of course the asshole shitheads who bullied WB into making the Snyder cut are now bullying WB into throwing away all their plans and destroy whatever goodwill they might've recovered recently to let Synder shit on DC all over again.
People love to trash Whedon for Justice League for being a terrible movie and the Snyder cut just made them louder. Whedon's cut is still Snyder's movie. It's still his movie - his script, character work, and shots. I feel like Warner asked Snyder to make a car. He decided to make a bus instead. Warner saw that and were annoyed so they hired Whedon because he made that awesome Avengers car. Rather than make a new car they just had him make a car out of the pieces of the bus. So of course it was a terrible car.
If Avengers is Thriller then Justice League is that Indian Thriller that looks like Thriller and trying to be Thriller but it's a rehash so it can make Thriller money.
Thabk You! Thank you for calling put the morality of Zack through his work and the toxic people he encourages. Also, funny btw watching him trying to repeat the Synder Cut bs with Rebel Moon and failing even with his base.
I want to believe Henry Cavill can be a great superman, he certainly looks the part. But I just don't think Zack Schneider really gets the character outside of maybe an Injustice adaptation.
I agree. I didn't recognize Superman or Batman in Snyder's universe. Maybe the injustice was were he was going with this but Batman v Superman just seemed like Zack taking his favorite scenes from different books and mashing them together. If Zach were a comic book artist he would be great because he makes things look cool but if asked to write the story then nothing makes sense. Just looks cool. That's always been Zack Snyder to me. I enjoyed watchmen but that's about it. Even his Netflix stuff with the zombies makes no sense.
There’s my main reason for disliking the SnyderCut. As far as I’m concerned, Zack Snyder doesn’t seem to understand Superman. Or if he does, then he chooses not to write Superman, preferring to go with this mopey Jesus metaphor in his place. Who is this guy? Because he’s not Superman. He’s not the symbol of hope and optimism he’s meant to be. He’s not fighting for truth, justice and the American way. His Batman also isn’t much better, in my opinion, but at least his depiction being inspired by The Dark Knight Returns has some basis in reality.
@@samuelbarber6177 Schnider writes the Superman he thinks would be real, the Man of Steel, BvS DoJ and Justice league Superman is so full to the brim with Schneider's own ideals...which are if not the opposite of the Superman from the Comics, very close to being the opposite. Superman is kind, helpful, he inspires people ahe is hope against the dark and he is empathic and altrusitic, all things that Zack Schneider feels are more lacking in realism then Superman being able to fly. Cavill is a good actor with a tonne of natural charisma and a definate "nice guy" feel and somehow Zack the Hack manage to bury that in deconstructive angst, Jesus metaphors and his standard BS.
The reason Zack Snyder makes bad superhero movies is simple and obvious. He makes movies about bad heroes because he is a libertarian and an objectivist. He fundamentally fails to tell stories about heroes because bootstrap politics, rugged individualism, and the works of Ayn Rand label all "heroes" who would bother saving innocent lives for free are villains because helping victims encourages them to stay victims. Snyder fails to make movies about hope and optimism because he's an ansgty manchild who only knows how to make edgelord movies for angry violent 13 year old bois. Zack Snyder makes bad movies that appeal to children who lack the self awareness to analyze why they enjoy fascist imagery and themes.
Snyder did not understand Superman or any heroes in DC, so I am looking forward to Gunn's interpretation, and heck, My Adventures With Superman nailed the characters of Clark, Jimmy and Lois perfectly, just think about it... An anime adaptation romcom did them a million times better than the supposed "best director"
I've enjoyed your content for a while now. I grew up on TNG and agree with many things I've heard you say. Your diatribe 25 minutes into this video might be my favorite thing I've ever heard you say. Snyder's ideologies are deeply embedded into his works and highly problematic. This doesn't seem to get talked about enough. Thanks for the great work sir!
THANK YOU Honestly, for all the faults of the theatrical version, those characters at least felt more like heroes. Also thank you for the rant about Snyder himself at the end, I'm so tired of people giving him credit for speaking out against one shitty group of TH-camrs when his movies, from the *very* first one, have been steeped in so much blatant racism and bigotry.
Again, the main issue with Snyder’s take on DC is that it is entirely rooted in 90’s comic esthetics, aka GRIM-DARK and SELF-IMPORTANT...so all the bad character-takes, super-expanded storytelling, and hyper-fiddly detailed imagery in the films comes directly from that...Snyder films are 90-00’s comics brought to life...which is why they suck, but to be honest what WARNERS wants...
Spoilers for The Batman Riddler & his army are very similar to Snyder’s fanboys. Overgrown children who worship toxic masculine violence & who punch down at everyone who isn’t them. So satisfying that the cruelty of Snyder’s themes is everything The Batman is fighting against. People need hope not a sadistic power fantasy.
Fun fact: if you go back to the first justice league trailer (back when Snyder was the only director on it), you’ll see that steppenwolf always was meant to have his theatrical design, several action moments were not put in slow motion originally, and several of the jokes people assumed were whedon, like Batman joking about aquaman speaking to fish or aquaman joking about digging the bat suit, were originally Snyder’s film. Because there never was a Snyder cut, it is just him being taken off the leash and fully unrestrained.
@@Fenris30 I think that is what he says to himself and is revisionist history, because he had free rein over both MoS and BvS and he made those movies exactly like he wanted too and they were what they were, bad films. So given a do-over, he naturally wanted to change some things and "this is how I wanted it all along" is how he framed it. For example, there is no way Darkseid was the one who attacked earth 5,000 years ago, it doesn't work with Darkseid, with the Mother Boxes and with anything else in the story, none of it works (and in fact, it makes the story worse for it). Clearly he just wanted to make it Darkseid attacking Earth in the past in this cut simply because he could.
@@andrewshandle THANK YOU!!! Seriously, that Darkseid inclusion both made Darkseid look like a complete failure of a villain (beaten by Ares? So Wonder Woman should be enough to demolish him) and somehow forget the one planet he lost on is also where all his stuff is, when it was clearly meant to be Steppenwolf (thus actually explaining his exile in one simple story beat) was such a stupid and massive plot hole, all created for the sake of “cool visuals.” Doesn’t help that Snyder doesn’t seem to understand he’s making a movie FOR A COMPANY THAT OWNS THESE CHARACTERS AND HE DOES NOT OWN THEM. Like, this isn’t citizen Kane, this is the movie you do to get the money/clout to make your citizen Kane later.
I just realized Darkseid and his cronies look like monsters from a 1990s Keita Amemiya film. Even his rendition of Steppenwolf looks like a spawn of the Makaraga in 'Moon Over Tao'.
I think the wider reaction to the Snyder cut (ie. that it was an improvement), was largely the result of backlash against WB and Whedon, and the rose-tinted glasses of desperation for there to be a better version of that movie. People WANTED it to be better, so badly, that they overlooked it's flaws. I suspect that your view will, over time, become the more widely accepted view - once the passage of time allows more people to look at it objectively. At least, I HOPE so - I'm so tired of the "bring back the Snyderverse" movement. Anyway - great review - and I hope you don't suffer too much ire at the hands of delusional Snyder fanatics!
This is similar to what happened with BvS. People were so hyped for a Batman and Superman team up movie that they have waited for decades combined with the tension between DC and Marvel fans that they WANTED BvS to be good. They wanted it to be good so badly that they ignore it's terrible writing, awful pacing, sloppy character development and call it a masterpiece
@@nothanks6549 i didnt really like the birds of prey (didnt hate it either), it felt like an origin story for a much better sequel, birds of prey 2 could be awesome.
@@nothanks6549 The moment I dialed out of Birds of Prey, the prison scene. A criminal unlocks the cage of other criminals, then the criminals (who should thank her and run) ATTACK. What? Why? The Harley Quinn cartoon made MUCH MORE sense as far as giving Harley Agency and giving her a female ally (Poison Ivy) that made much more sense!!! The only thing I really liked about Birds of Prey movie is Huntress and Black Canary. Great casting and I would have been happy to see a BETTER Birds of Prey movie with just those two. TV's "The Six Million Dollar Man" (1974-78) also used slow mo, as did "The Bionic Woman" (1976-78). I recall slow-mo scenes in TV's "The Incredible Hulk" (1977-82) when Hulk would throw something large, like a bear (an innocent which survived being tossed into a pond, viewers had to be shown that, good!) or a car. So using slo-mo (plus music) is a classic camera trick. :)
Fairly sure that the reason they did that was to show/emphasise that they were using superhuman powers, since the effects technology or budget wasn't up to the task. Also, they were TV shows which had to fit a particular time slot. If the episode's story didn't take up quite enough time, slow motion was a good way to add a few seconds here and there to fit. Feature length movies don't have that excuse - especially ones that are longer than normal already. (Although movies are getting longer these days, so 2 hours might soon count as 'normal' anyway.)
Using the same old logical fallacy that it was used before so it being used no is good, completely ignoring the fact that when it was used before it was used preperly or cirncumstancially vs how when it was used now it was terrible. It's like saying Leto's Joker in Suicide Squad was good bc he was "method acting" and using Heath Ledger's own method acting for his own version of the Joker as the main argument...
He only put the black suit in because everyone asked for it. He had the opportunity to get feedback from the actual release of the film the first time around so he had the chance to pander to his audience. I think they all believe he actually went to the trouble of reshooting scenes with Superman in black. It's just his blue suit getting colour corrected from already filmed scenes. Zack Snyder doesn't care about you. Snyder fans need to wise up. He wants your money. He doesn't have some grand artistic vision. He's pandering. Stop loving him unconditionally. His ego is already so huge he actually thought it would be a good idea to be his own cinematographer for Army of The Dead and shoot everything in such a shallow depth of field so we can't see anything beyond what's right in front of the camera.
The Batman in quite a lot of ways stands in huge opposition to the fascistic themes of Snyder’s movies. Anyone who has seen the film knows what I am talking about.
Hollywood doesn't really understand Superman they have such a cynical pessimistic view of Superman just like Lex Luthor. This quote is what Superman should be "instead of absolute power corrupting absolutely, absolute power has absolved him from fear, greed, hate and all of the weaknesses that stem from Human insecurity" ( not that superficial take from the Christopher Reeves movies yes he's an icon that people think of when you think of Superman same as Michael Keenan but doesn't have accurate characteristic of Superman that you would think of from Superman the animated series and Smallville.) And can we stop this whole Superman is a Christ figure Superman is Moses figure was easy to understand before Christopher Reeve Superman movies.
Agree 100%. Superman is now akin to Tarzan. There's no need for another origin movie. Just make a great movie about him, jumping off the earlier versions, and cast a great actor as the lead.
Bad guy: “I’m going to blow up this building!”
Wonder Woman: “Not if I do it first!”

"WHERE'S MY GODDAMN ELECTRIC CAR, BRUCE?!?"

Fortunately they did add a Mustache too Flash at the very end.

Ah yes, just because someone likes this movie or BvS immediatly someone must sound smart by calling them out Snyder fanboys. Classic.
I think its because he was Tired After All the Battles with Steppenwolf.
He’s an alien, you think Batman hasn’t met aliens and gods before? I would expect him to be so calm meeting Martian manhunter

THE Snydercut was not some ZS masterpiece ruined by Whedon and WB, no, the Snydercut was the result of ZS remaking the OG JL movie but with a cheat sheet of exactly what the fans liked, hated, and characters, small parts, but parts they would use to set up future movies and scenarios for films the fans wanted toy see made
Now, don't get me wrong, movie makers should ABSOLUTELY listen to the fans.
Syderman don't get batman either
My favorite moment from the theatrical cut is when Flash tries to run behind aggro Superman and Superman starts to turn his head in the slo mo. It was a cool moment.
In the Snyder cut, it definitely didn't hit the same at all. Slo mo is a seasoning, and Snyder went all Salt Bae on that
I agree, I got chills when Superman turned his head and remembered “Superman has super-speed too”
It sucks because I absolutely love Watchmen, but I can’t connect with his vision of the DCEU. Just because somebody made a delicious pizza, doesn’t necessarily mean they can make a great steak
'I find TH-cam movie critics who do nothing but rant about how terrible everything is to be just as phony and performative and boring s those reactors who jump and holler like a prehistoric human seeing fir for the first time'
Hey, I resemble that remark!!!!!!!!!
Snyder actually showed farmers spreading seed in slow no in his Star Wars rip off for Netflix. WTF!!!!!
It's the way they've shaped public perception of what those stories and characters are.
i understand characters and movies to some extent you preferring marvel, but for me i can’t see how people prefer the marvel books. tbf a lot of dcs best work is just batman lmao
some people don't like the edge, some people prefer different stories. It's all subjective.
I feel that if you were employed to make a film and instead created a miniseries you're a bad filmmaker.

The perfect review.

Not to defend Snyder but that wasn't really his fault, it was WB the ones who rushed the development of the DCEU
@@panthergod Agree he's all style and no substance.

Snyder was in charge of villains of WW84 , the reception of that part was final straw for WB
Cheetah mode.
If you say so. He certainly wasn't in charge of any conflict. In fact, I'm convinced he had a lot more influence in the first Wonder Woman than give credit for.
Yeah that's not true.
Pretty sure the use of slow-mo to indicate super speed started with Steve Austin.
I have to disagree. The best DC is animated. Check out the Harley Quinn animated series for proof.
@@plkrtn Indeed -- since we made these comments, WB or whoever owns DC announced they have no plans to continue the Synderverse.
@@plkrtn. Not exactly a new problem. Fans have “won” over studios in other bring back scenarios when in fact it’s just the corporation recognizing there is money to be made. "Great art needs a great audience"
Forget who said that, but, as with music, sculpture, etc, the use of computers in film has us in a situation where, until the general populace understands ~to some degree~ the processes by which contemporary popular art are being brought to them, they won't be able to discern between art made by people who love humanity and bought-and-paid-for, shiney-surfaced, mean-spirited, mastabatory propaganda made by self-righteous spoiled brats, that leaves unsuspecting audiences feeling "wowed"(on the surface), but despairing and raging underneath.

In burton and nolan movies they use creative camera work and lighting to add mystique or make hum look more imposing. In the snyderverse he just looks like a regular guy in an ugly costume.
He might've looked best in Reeves' version. Although, Affleck looked nothing like a regular guy. He looked intimidating af in some scenes.

I mean the fact that Snyder wants to adapt the Fountain Head is fucking hilarious, it's like self parody.
He can adapt Jonathan Livingston Seagull. I'd watch.
Maybe no one else would though.
That would be fantastic, so he will leave things I like (such as the hopeful inspiring DC heroes) alone.
The "Snyder Cut" is three hours longer than it needs to be and in Sepia tone. Movies don't need to be that long or in that color pallet.
@@cool2314 exactly, I love DC comics as in reading them, but Snyder's take on it is insulting.
Yeah. He has a belief in postmodern subjective morality. Fine for Sucker Punch or Watchmen. Horrible for DC superHEROs.
THANK YOU
Honestly, for all the faults of the theatrical version, those characters at least felt more like heroes.
Also thank you for the rant about Snyder himself at the end, I'm so tired of people giving him credit for speaking out against one shitty group of TH-camrs when his movies, from the *very* first one, have been steeped in so much blatant racism and bigotry.
They felt more like heroes in the Whedon Cut?
Again, the main issue with Snyder’s take on DC is that it is entirely rooted in 90’s comic esthetics, aka GRIM-DARK and SELF-IMPORTANT...so all the bad character-takes, super-expanded storytelling, and hyper-fiddly detailed imagery in the films comes directly from that...Snyder films are 90-00’s comics brought to life...which is why they suck, but to be honest what WARNERS wants...
My take-away: zack snyder loves his slomo as much as JJ Abrams likes lense flares
I am so glad I am not the only one that doesn't like ZS or his work
Lol then only one?
WB was like, "Okay, fanboys, I'll give you the 'Snyder Cut'...and cancel everything else in this franchise going forward. You're welcome!"
Spoilers for The Batman
Riddler & his army are very similar to Snyder’s fanboys.
So Wonder Woman should be enough to demolish him) and somehow forget the one planet he lost on is also where all his stuff is, when it was clearly meant to be Steppenwolf (thus actually explaining his exile in one simple story beat) was such a stupid and massive plot hole, all created for the sake of “cool visuals.”
Doesn’t help that Snyder doesn’t seem to understand he’s making a movie FOR A COMPANY THAT OWNS THESE CHARACTERS AND HE DOES NOT OWN THEM.
"I swore I would never watch another DCEU movie! And then I watched like five of them." 😂
(outstanding video!)
@@nothanks6549 I finally saw it recently. I was giggling during fight scenes, which usually borrrreee me so much. It was crafted. ✨
What? Why? Birds of Prey tried too hard to be pro woman by putting characters that made no sense into an alliance just cause they were women.
Also, they are the only two legit Birds of Prey members in the Birds of Prey movie.
Nah, Birds of Prey... Not good. Not if you actually like the Birds of Prey. As they were a footnote I their own movie.
@@TheDawnofVanlife oh, did we not like the movie with women? Surprising. Don't tell me, you hated the Ghostbusters remake too 🙄
Sorry people like things!
If the whole movie was at full speed it would be 45 minutes
So basically it's an overused 70s trope brought back in 2021 to be overused yet again, got it
I wouldn’t say it’s worse. The other version I cut off after 15min. I cut Snyder’s version off after 17minutes
I love the way you start this video 😂 more people need to stop putting all of their emotions into these films
I will live happily if i never view either cut again
