Just have to add this, one of the BEST EVER Bluetooth speakers I have heard and still have and use are the JBL 104 BT reference monitors. They are soooooo good over Bluetooth. Excellent implementation on behalf of JBL and I would recommend those speakers to anyone looking for HIGH quality Bluetooth sound. They do have lag with Netflix etc but they are also wired so getting round that is easy. These are a very detailed small speaker and as far as any bad review of these go on the internet then ignore them, these speakers will actually blow you away for sheer instrumental separation and detail. I haven’t found better at the price and I mean from anyone and everyone!

Great interesting article, I got old iPhone for streaming and blue tooth , because I don’t have any digital inputs on my Rotel a11 so can’t use a wim etc , but does have aac and aptx tho, as you know apple version of aac but it’s to wide bandwidth usual Bluetooth transmission. It’s great that android phones comming up to play better Bluetooth. Love the intro, and talking pictures showing original Batman , reminds of your channel lol . Regards mark

I use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi streaming for different purposes. Bluetooth is great for portable usage, such as barbecues and parties as you mentioned. It is also nice for travel using wireless headphones. I like that Wi-Fi can have better sound quality and also has multi point streaming. I use airplay 2 in order to stream to multiple devices around my home. I think that both systems have their pros and cons and different use cases.

instead of airplane mode to avoid notification sounds, I use Do not disturb mode, which keeps the wifi enabled but without notifications.
For me the problem with bluetooth is micro-cuts and unreliable connectivity, even in short distances. Im using a Douk Audio St01 pro btw

It’s convenient and very simple and good on the move. But love Tidal Connect! Sounds so good.
And Cheapaudioman is excellent, I agree.

Without even noticing it, I caught myself thinking that I use Bluetooth all the time! In the car, in the kitchen, headphones. If the signal source is high-quality, it is almost impossible to notice bad sound via Bluetooth.

Yeah, I disagreed with Randy’s assessment on Bluetooth as well.
I believe it’s a very useful format for music enjoyment at home or on the go… I have never felt it had sounded terrible like it’s being portrayed.

I'm amazed at how Bluetooth is unacceptable for full on hifi rigs, but whenever someone is reviewing a pair of Focal Bathys, Sony WH1000s, or B&W PX7s everything sounds amazing, with stunning definition.

Just don't like seeing my phone's battery level drop. And I'm sur (hope) that in the future our mobile devices will get a feature added so we can use our phones and Bluetooth at the same time, don't see this as impossible. And good cd quality for me is enough, hey I love vinyl too. To we care about the bit rate.
Liked the video Bluetooth is still so practical, too many snobs 😂

Bluetooth or audio transfer is going to become huge, and improve substantially in the near future . Imagine no wires no power plugs slim down audio units, even now some Bluetooth is very good and with the market moving at light speed into 7g the future of Bluetooth or audio transfer is massive.. The devices of today will soon be vintage 😮

No issues here with Bluetooth on the SMSL AO-300 or the Aiyima T1 Pro pre amp, even found myself thinking I was on cable occasionally till I turned my phone off…😂.

For my bedroom systems everything is routed via a WiiM Pro Plus that doesn't support LDAC or AptX. Wifi from my Android tablet makes sense here.
I use my Android phone with my lounge system where there is a Bluetooth receiver that accepts LDAC and AptX. This system is less detail oriented and Bluetooth works fine.

its double edge sword. mainly with worst to best codec and also the use of listening music devices. I prefer bluetooth mostly for wireless headphones and use some alternative homepods that i own for watching movies on Apple TV. what i didnt really liked is when the lip sync is off many times. that was a common thing back then. with music, maybe a half issue but not a huge dealbreaker for me. so atleast it got improved when i use my airpods 2 pro.
even some turntable have also this feature, mostly for convience preference. And atleast some of them are mostly 5.2, so its atleast something acceptable for its use. maybe not recommended as analog feel but for casual listening, thats fine.
Wifi could be better but i didnt have not much used with these things, since i mainly use Headphones and Homepods with Bluetooth support.

I recently purchased a HiBy R4 and the Bluetooth is great. It sounds better than my iPhone 15 pro max over AirPlay. AirPlay is easier to set up though.

I never use any of the Bluetooth codecs, just listen to my Flac files from Cambridge Audio Music Streamer over WiFi or Flac files on my mobile phone from my wired headphones

When I use Bluetooth it is only SBC as my stuff is old.
It is good enough for me as a non audiophile.
SBC spec.wise is similar to mp3, 16 bit, 320 kb/s which seems quite good.
I have many mp3 files encoded at 192 kb/s and find they deliver perfectly acceptable listening.
The downer for me regarding any Bluetooth is the rigmarole of paring which sometimes takes annoyingly long.

If you're already streaming, or getting music from a low quality source, the Bluetooth isn't going to help it any. AptX 7hd, Lrad whatever. You can play the same low quality audio files for example like TH-cam songs and it's going to sound at least 2-3 times better When going through a DAC, directly into the amplifier with good cables, instead of Bluetooth. Sorry
Also you might tell the difference blindfolded, if you knew what the DB level was on the amplifier. Bluetooth is way quieter than direct CD audio or digital audio via USB, ect.

I stopped watching "Randy." I used to think he knew his stuff, but now I think he's full of shit. I love Bluetooth too! I'm definitely not considered a "streamer" of music but when I'm not playing my vinyl, cassettes or cd's... I use Bluetooth. Another great show bud. 👍🏻

I also like Andy's approach on hi fi, but the bluetooth rant was totally without reason.
He is paid by wiim to promote their products, I assume.
I listen to bt on the street and when I don't want wires hanging.
In the living room I listen to streaming through a wiim hooked to an external dac but I can't tell any difference from aptXHD or adaptive.
Only a CD sounds better for me.

I don’t hate Bluetooth but I have zero use for it.
If it can be lossless then I would use that if I used Bluetooth

  • @Anastasios912

You state that the pixel 9 supports aptx lossless but I don't think that's true - that codec is locked behind snapdragon sound and is only available on Qualcomm hardware which the pixel 9 doesn't have.

Depends what device side you encode the files can be best to push off onto headphone side if phone isn't great if your dac in headphones is great why listen to phone dac
