Bluetooth isn’t great for me when it comes to home audio. I have nothing against it per se, and to say it’s dead simply isn’t true!
Mainly, I’m not using it more because I’m locked into the Apple ecosystem. So even though I have Aptx hd codecs etc on in my system, I can’t use them as I just get AAC, which seems to sound pretty crap on my system using tidal.
If I had something like APTX/LDAC codecs on my device and receiver, I’d probably use Bluetooth a lot more, or even if my system just sounded better on SBC/AAC.
My friend just got a cheap (£200) set of Bluetooth enabled active speakers and the Bluetooth on those sounds nearly as good as when he is cabled into them, and his phone doesn’t have any special codecs and he uses TH-cam music and Spotify. They actually sound pretty damn good for the money and he’s really happy with them!
So I think it can also depend on how resolving etc the speakers and the music source are too.
So I personally just use bluetooth for on the go with AirPods Pro using ALAC codec.
Tbh though for home audio I personally haven’t looked back since I got a WiiM streamer, and I love using tidal connect.
Not that I’m saying that’s perfect either, but it works far better for my home audio setup and provides a much higher fidelity sound than my available Bluetooth options can.
For many though i truly believe Bluetooth may well be the superior choice!

Another decent little usb transmitter that’s specifically for audio is the Avantree DG80. Has a very sweet sound and is a tiny usb design like a dongle for a keyboard.

I like the part of the video where you are begging for spare change to get a cup of tea., because you have given me a new idea to go outside and start begging for a Mcintosh amplifier and Linton speakers...(though I have doubts it might not work)

I have a question with using the transmitter only, say I would hook this up to a turntables pre-amplifier direct, would this transmit to any Bluetooth device say a portable Bluetooth speaker without using the matching receiver and if so, do we know approximately how far that Bluetooth range would be ? I do know that it varies with the environment the equipment is in, like through walls and stuff like that or is it more of a line of sight connection ?
You can connect it to a turntable with a built in phono stage or to an external phono stage via the RCA out. You would need an RCA to 3.5mm cable.
It has a 15 metre (50 feet) range, direct line of sight. It will struggle through brick walls but fairs a bit better through windows and dry wall.
