I seriously doubt there's anything inherently evil about the Darksaber. After all, Sabine was able to wield it perfectly fine after she received training. Heck, if it _was_ evil, Kanan wouldn't have trained her to use the thing in the first place. The problem is the mythical status surrounding the saber, it encourages power-hungry types to go for it.

What if Tarre Vizsla was secretly a sith ? Think about we know some jedis have white sabers, and black is the opposite of white. It is very connected to power, which the sith care a great deal about. Tar ha many attachents that lead to the darkside etc. etc. There is many such little seeds that all point to him actualy being a sith.

Yeah. Din is the best leader because he won it without seeking it as a symbol to rule Mandalore, he just needed to beat Moff Gideon, and he has never had any real drive to become a leader, but has shown that he is still a very good one. Sabine probably could have also been a great leader of Mandalore, but was not willing to take that role and thought Bo-Katan was more worthy of it, but I think that Din will be willing to accept the responsibility of leadership if it comes down to it

The Dark Saber is a Jedi artifact in addition to being a Mandalorian one. It would take a Sith like Sidious to corrupt it.
The Dark Saber itself is also different than other sabers. Tarre Vizla forged it to be usable by non force sensitives (so it could be passed down along with his armor as per Mandalorian tradition but the Jedi took the saber to bury it in Jedi tradition) which explains why it's a lot more like a sword with a proper edge and has a shorter blade. That also explains why it has weight.
A regular saber has no weight except for the hilt which is why it's dangerous for non force sensitives to use as they can easily hurt themselves due to not being able to sense the blade like a force user can. It's also why people like Cad Bane could immediately pick one up and swing it easily (like he did against Obi-Wan).
Star Wars is a universe in which guns and nukes are considered primitive weapons. Not many species still use regular, steel swords (I can only think of 2, the Kaleesh and the Dathomirians). So no one would be used to the Dark Saber unless they had some prior training with a sword (which is why Maul is pretty much the only person we see to be able to instantly use it. He's had lightsaber training and his species are among the few that still used steel weapons). It's just a matter of training. As for Moff Gideon, he's had a few years to practice with it or get used to it so it isn't weird to see him somewhat comfortable using it. Din JUST got his hands on it so it makes sense he's not used to it.

Tarre Vizla did not forge it to be wielded by non Force Sensitives. Tarre Vizla and Maul as Force Sensitives had Mastery of the Darksaber, non force sensitives had to go through extensive training to be able to wield it! It was a Jedi Weapon.

    • @lazydroidproductions1087
      @lazydroidproductions1087 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well, I don’t think any explicit efforts to make it for non-forceweilders were taken, but philosophically it fits more with Mandalorian than Jedi, though not entirely. And on it having weight, yes and no. In truth I doubt it has weight, but unlike a lightsaber, it seems to have weight to those who fight against it, the more they resist, the heavier it seems, and the harder it is to wield

    • @wafflingmean4477
      @wafflingmean4477 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Sabine specifically says that the blade felt lighter as she begun to connect with it. That was when Kanan antagonised her to embrace her emotions. The blade is designed to work better for people who use their emotions to drive them, hence why Maul faced no resistance at all from the Darksaber. Din is currently conflicted and doesn't even want to acknowledge it, so it fights him.

Can't see the Dark Saber as Dark side weapon, I see it as an extension of Tarre Vizsla's legacy and House Vizsla too. The Mandalorians are a complicated group that has been in conflict with the status quo and not always able to find a better resolution to the problem. The New Mandalorians abandoned their legacy much to their detriment and previous Mandalores had a tendency to refuse aid when dealing with tough enemies. The idea of the saber being heavy is symbolic of what conflicts and legacies the Mandalorians will have to resolve before they can reunite and forge a new path, one that will be more difficult due to their insular nature. Unlike the Jedi, they don't have benefit of the force guiding them which can either be good or bad. Darksabre is dark in the sense of uncertainty rather than the Dark side.

To the credit of the Armorer, she still respects their traditions. A truly spineless cur would have taken the Darksaber once it was in their hands, but all she does is inspect it and asks Din if he knows or understands it's significance; she gives it back to Din after their discussion on the matter. I don't think of her as being violent, evil, sadistic, etc. If anything, she demonstrates a lot of discipline, wisdom and historical knowledge. The society she comes from just happens to be very martial in practice. "Nice" for her was forging the special armor accessories for Grogu, even though she didn't have to.

I’m having doubts with the current suggested function of the Darksaber. It widely believed it functions similar to the Elder Wand but that already has so many discrepancies.
My thoughts is that the weapon is possessed or in tune with Tar Vizla’s Force Spirit. And he accepts or denies wielders not only for winning duels or combat prowess, but by state of mind and conviction.
It was weird Gar Saxon from Rebels was able to use the Saber without any insight or training. Made sense for Sabine since she learned to confront her troubled past. My guess is that both were able to wield the Dark Saber for their own committed ends. Din seems to be a wandering lost soul and Paz is simply a remnant of old Mandalore and clan Vizla.
Paz and Din are beholden to the Watch and this lack of autonomy and vision may make Tar Vizla reject them. Tar made this weapon to lead, not follow. A focused mind with a focused goal makes a focused blade. Likewise a weary and chaotic mind makes for a heavy blade.

Is the sword having the effect? Or is it in the mind of the weirder? I’ve seen elsewhere that the dark saber is effected by the emotions of the wielder… Moff Gideon, or even Sabine Wren and I’m assuming Bo Katan wielded it fine even though according to the armorer they would not be the rightful owner. But they didn’t know/care about the legends so they could use it. Din probably feels unworthy, thus can’t wield it effectively… perhaps in Mando season 3 Din finds that pool on Mandalore and does Star wielding it. Similar concept to ritual purification perhaps

    • @docomega7862

The saber is the key to ruling mandalore. It seems logical that in order to master it one must acquire the mindset of a leader. Therefore they mustn't be held back by their past or their guilt. There is an entire episode dedicated to Sabine mastering the saber. Moff Gideon had the saber for years and doesn't seem to be the kind of person held back by their past. Bo Katan is a tough one because we never saw her using it so we can't tell how easy it was forr her. But we can assume she was somewhat competent with it because she had it forr quite some time.
In adition to mindset I also think the prroblems come from the fact they are non forrce sensitive. They can't really feel the kyber crystal like a force sensitive can so they must learn to trust it in order to fight with it and not against it. I know non force sensitive have been shown using other lightsabers without inconvinience but since this one is special I believe this explanation works

The fact that the Armorer know so much about the Saber and how to wield it, tells me she once held it and didn't want the responsibility, and if she removed her helmet others would try to make her the next Mandolore. (I personally think she is Sabine)
If Asoka is back, then it stands to reason so is Sabine, maybe Ezra, and that means Throne is going to be the big bad of the Mandolorian plot line.

The Darksabre seems to work better for people who embrace their emotions instead of fighting them.
Sabine struggled to wield it in Rebels until Kanan deliberately antagonised her into lashing out, both with the sabre and verbally. It was only when she literally cried about how her family had cast her aside for trying to save Mandalore from the empire that the sabre begun to work. The only other we've seen right after they acquired the sabre was Maul, and he showed no sign of struggle whatsoever, because as a dark sider he uses his emotions to fuel him.
Din Djarin currently is conflicted emotionally, but at the same times avoids his issues because he's a warrior who doesn't want to show weakness or lack of focus on his creed. He doesn't know whether or not he wants to leave Grogu with Luke, since he now sees Grogu as a son. He believes he is unworthy to be a Mandalorian for removing his helmet, but at the same time questions this rule since he has seen other supposed Mandalorians like Bo Katan remove theirs.
I think it is only once Din Djarin knowingly embraces or resolves this conflict or defines a new creed for himself, that the sabre will begin to work for him. The Forgemaster seemed to imply the same thing.

Perhaps the Dark Saber is essentially neutral, but responds to and even amplifies it's user's emotions and intentions. Din doesn't really want it, or at least is uncertain about it. He is not a power seeker, but takes his responsibilities seriously, and is an honourable man. That could be why the D.S. "responds" by feeling "heavy" to him- it represents Leadership, which Din takes very seriously, but doesn't feel quite cut out for. He is, ironically, the very type who would make a good leader

Boba has claim to the Darksaber because his father Jango originally beat Tor Vizsla for it in combat in the Open Seasons comics. It then ended back up in House Vizsla wrongfully, hence the curse and where it started. Boba is also Heir and rightful Leader to the True Mandalorians through Jango Fett(adopted son of Jaster Mereel). Tatooine(Boba's Palace) could also become the new covert/base for Mandalorians. And Now that Cad Bane🤯 has appeared, he could defeat Din in combat for the Darksaber(HUGE TWIST) and hurt him pretty bad(NOT killing him) and THEN Boba(with his beskar armor) could then DISARM the Darksaber from Cad Bane with his very own custom Gaffi stick, taking claim to the Darksaber(using his TUSKEN MELEE FORM)!🤯 I'm sure that is the special meaning behind it. I think Boba could also be "The Mythosaur rising" that the Armorer was talking about in Legends and Boba wears the Mythosaur Skull on his pauldron. But if not Cad, someone else possibly? However we must get the Darksaber back to Boba(Jango's clone/heir) because Jango was technically the last rightful weilder to the Darksaber, hence the curse. This needs to happen without any conflict/combat between the two to make it work. This would be the easiest/safest way politically to get the Darkaber from Din back to Boba and restore the curse and ultimately Mandalore. A third person needs come into the picture. Cad Bane adds up perfectly because it creates that personal backstory between him and Boba(some of the unfinished HELMET DENT scenes from The Clone Wars could be made canon!?) Din also gets hurt, because his character struggling in this stage of his character development(growing pains, GROGU could FORCE HEAL him). We also get Legends Fan service Also, DIN not being able to see GROGU is heartbreaking and makes him more unstable mentally/emotionally and puts him at more of a risk of being vulnerable with the Darksaber if someone were to duel him! It could be taken from him very easily by someone who is very skilled such as Cad Bane(wielded a lightsaber in The Clone Wars for a short time), or if Qi'ra(trained by Maul in the arts of Teräs Käsi) ends up being the Big Bad running the "Syndicate" aka Crimson Dawn. What do you think?🤓

I'd say the saber isn't evil, more it is a weapon that requires absolute focus on ones goal to unlock it's true power and only those that have done so have shaped it's history and what people think of it. Like any legendary weapon it is coveted by those seeking only power and of those it's likely that more than those that did had the determination to their goals to wield it properly, hence the weapon is now associated with a lust of power and single mindedness. I don't think the saber is inherently evil, is simply pushes it's wielders to focus on exactly what they want and is not afraid to brow beat them to make it happen like a life coach that was a former drill sergeant (Sabine had to come to terms with her guilt before she used the sabre properly, Din's thoughts are all over the place at the moment with Grogu and also I think Din is and always has been too modest with himself and Pas' head was likely swirling with such jealousy and reverence that he couldn't even consider what he really wanted out of life) and that has drawn in more evil people than good over the generations because good people generally don't reshape the world of their own volition. I'd say once Din manages to stop simply taking orders from everyone around him and understands he is more than just some random guy, he'll be more than able to truely be able to master the darksaber and understand he is the best person for the job of reuniting an entire civilisation.

Has anyone ever though that maybe, just maybe, lightsabers are unweildy for people who've never trained with a lightsaber? And especially so with an extremely old one, perhaps not as perfect as newer ones? It's almost like Sabine was specifically told that blade is old and powerful in response to her mentioning that it's heavy.
Personally I don't think there's anything particularly special about the dark saber other than the story and mythos that the mandelorians created for it. It's just an old lightsaber, and lightsabers require some sort of connection through the force to the kyber crystal to be used effectively. In my mind, lightsaber hilts are a bit heavier than you would expect, like padme mentions to Anakin one time, and on top of that the blade has a high moment of inertia and additional weight of its own, making it hard to push around in the direction you want without your thoughts becoming energy to flow through the crystal to cause it to move how you want it via the force. Like Sabine is told.

*Where is the story of the Dark Saber and Djin Djarin going? I believe I have the answer.* Djin needs to enter the waters far below the surface of Mandalore to cleanse his sin of removing his helmet to return to the fold. The planet of Mandalore is destroyed on the surface by the Empire; however, beneath the surface of Mandalore is where the destiny of Djin lies.
In his quest to cleanse himself below the surface of Mandalore, Djin will discover that life exists far below the surface of Mandalore where the sacred waters reside. The interior of Mandalore not only contains the waters to cleanse his sins, but it also contains a hidden and secret world where the creatures of the surface of Mandalore have all been killed off, the interior of Mandalore contains animals and an entire ecosystem containing the animals and creatures that once lived on the surface.
Djin will manage to cleanse himself in the waters far below the surface and will also discover that the once thought extinct Mysthosaur still manages to survive on the interior of the planet. The Mandalorian prophecy states that the new leader of the Mandalorian's will unite his people by claiming the Dark Saber and will return to power by riding the ancient war beast named the Mythosaur into battle once more against the enemies of Mandalore. This is where I believe Dave and John Favreau are aiming their Mandalorian scripts.
Djin will become the leader of the Mandalorian people, reclaim their ancestral planet Mandalore from the remnants of the Empire and Djin will lead his small but strong clan (lead by the armorer currently) along with the Mandalorian clan led by Bo-Katan Kryze and even Boba Fett and the Bad Batch united under one banner to win against the Empire and repopulate their planet!

which is why i think it is meant for a leader or a ruler who has to be willing and ready to make choices without a second thought to them, it symbolizes determination i think.
hence why giddeon is so easily capable of swinging it, it's because he is determined and hold no issues about what he has to get done

  • @MusingsFromTheJohn00
    @MusingsFromTheJohn00 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well, in these Force Religion conflicts, I think if I were a "Force Sensitive" I would not be a Jedi or Sith, and consider both wrong in their "Word Views".
Now, if I had to choose between the binary choice of Sith or Jedi, the Sith I think are clearly worse, much worse, thus clearly the more evil choice by my standards.
But, let us consider some Jedi wisdom from Obi-Wan Kenobi:
    (1) There is no emotion, there is peace.
What nonsense. Of course there is emotion and to deny emotion is to lead one into emotional conflicts that are likely to not end well.
    (2) There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
This just sounds dumb. Of course there is ignorance and there is knowledge. We exist between pure ignorance and pure knowledge, because if we were 100% ignorant we could not think and if we were 100% knowledgeable we also probably could not think because all thinking had already been done. Realizing that we do NOT know everything is very important to learning more.
    (3) There is no passion, there is serenity.
Again, this is idiotic in my opinion. Okay, if you want to be the most non-reactive plant, then sit in the sun soaking up the rays of sunlight regardless of whether someone is going to pluck you from the soil and eat you. Without passion one has no drive to accomplish things. So, of course we must have passion and the truth is all Jedi have passion and it is a LIE that they don't.
    (4) There is no chaos, there is harmony.
More nonsense. This is a Chaos vs Order argument that all must be Order. Well, existence would not exist in a 100% ordered existence. Neither would it exist in a 1005 chaos existence. The existence we exist in requires a BALANCE of both, and the question then become how much Chaos vs Order is better, and how those balances are applied become very important.
    (5) There is no death, there is the Force.
Again, more nonsense. Maybe a "Force Ghost" can survive beyond normal physical death, but clearly things die, all the time.
Now, the code recited by the younglings & Depa Billaba seem better.
    (1) Emotion, yet peace.
Well, I think seeking peace is good, in general. But, sometimes one needs to be less peaceful to not just live but evolve.
    (2) Ignorance, yet knowledge.
This seems more an understanding that despite how much we learn, there more to learn, thus we understand that there are things we are ignorant over despite whatever knowledge we have now, so we should keep seeking more knowledge. Do not become complacent in thinking one knows it all.
    (3) Passion, yet serenity.
This I think can apply to the idea that we need passion to live and passion to accomplish things. To be passionate about something requires being NOT calm, NOT peaceful, and NOT untroubled about what one is passionate about. However, at times when seeking what we are passionate about we must calm ourselves, bring our minds to a more peaceful state, and find a state of serenity versus troubled. I believe this is to allow using our passions to help motivate us but use serenity to allow our rational logical minds direct our actions.
    (4) Chaos, yet harmony.
This sounds more like the balance of actual existence, which is a state that exists between the two extremes of pure uncertainty and pure determination. This reflects our actual real world existence, because from the quantum levels of the fundamental forces through to the Observable Universe and beyond everything we know exists between pure chaos and pure order.
    (5) Death, yet the Force.
Here I think the idea that "Force" comes from life means this is really saying "Death, yet Life, and from Life flows the Force". I could be wrong, but that is how I would re-write it.
I think a very telling thing Yoda said “Many of the truths that we cling to depend on our point of view”, tells a lot.
I think the Jedi Order clings to Dogmatic Beliefs I think are wrong and do not agree with, but by far I agree much more with the Jedi than with the Sith.
