What happened to Boba's ship Slave1/(Uighur1 I think Disney changed it)? That's a pretty tough ship with pretty big guns. How far is Boba's Palace? Did that Rancor run all the way from Boba's to the city?

I'm going to disagree with the distance and spacing argument, despite when we are told on a technical level blasters seem to be more like high tech muskets. Unless the plot demands it their rather inaccurate and their slower projectile speed means they would have a shorter effective range, unless again the plot demands other wise.
So in reality they would of course need to be in close range with line fire tactics as that wold really be the only way to ensure you hit something. Granted once again unless the plot demands it.

@@thewyit4222 That's why staying in the town was a dumb idea. Sure it puts on more of a show for the people (Like, it's not just another crime lord being sieged out in his own palace) But wasn't the goal to "protect the people"? Fighting in this massive town itself not only endangers them more, but also denies Boba and company the few advantages the could have against the Pykes. Like, if the Pykes signed out Boba's Palace. It's a way more defensible position than a blown up bar in a massive town. That way he would not only have cover but also wouldn't need to spread his own forces so thin because there would be way less ground to cover. Not to mention the Rancor and two starships at your disposal that could be used to maw down the enemy without destroying half the city you want to protect. I loved that finale and I liked the series, but that battle was so underwhelming.

  • @rhysnichols8608

I just think it was too ‘childish’ and no tension. Like the Pykes just ran around like headless chickens getting mown down, whilst non of Fetts soldiers died apart from the gamorians.
That’s the issue with Disney Star Wars I feel, the bad guys are weak and almost a joke, removing any tension and genuine concern for the characters. I didn’t even see the spider droid actually kill anyone. It was like watching power rangers.
I also like to see some military tactics and planning not just a crazy shoot out which would end very quickly in ‘reality’ like I like it to be ‘realistic’ in terms of the Star Wars universe with death and consequences not just a festival of gunning down moronic enemies.

I have to say that the series overall for this season could have been structured better; I personally would have love to see "old" Boba as he was known for becoming the more caring and reasonable one in bits especially with the flashbacks. I don't feel that we got enough of him becoming one who looked out for himself only to become one who looked out for others. That development I would have loved to see done a bit better.
I would have prefer to see Bane show up earlier in the season to build up anticipation which this series really needed in earlier bits thus the ending of his story here would have been quite the climaxed ending.
I would have preferred if Grogu's choice was left ambiguous/somewhat of a cliff hanger until later in this verse. Like what if this series ended on that note with Luke offering him the choice? I think that would have been quite something as a mid credits scene setting up for more on Mando season 3.
Overall I think that Boba was overshadowed with Din, Ahsoka, and Luke showing up in the seried. They were important yes to set up Mando season 3 and the Ahsoka series but Boba should have had more stuff to build up on by itself (hence why i wanted Bane to show up earlier) for more engagment and interest for the fans.
Overall I say it was a decent season and if they do more, I wonder what direction they will go.
But this is just my take.

@@Zanrawr-f4l One of my biggest problems with the show is it has no theme. Bane calls him a killer and he says he's a changed man and that's as much as we get. We don't see what he was we never see him struggle with the change. Maybe one of the mods gets into an argument with some local or something and it gets heated and they blast them right in the face. Then Boba would get mad and blow up on them but its really because that's something he would have done and it's the regret and anger at himself surfacing. Afterwards there could be a nice bonding scene with Boba and whichever mod shot the guy where he explains himself and gives some advice and maybe tells him about something ruthless he's done for a bounty before.

      @RorikH 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@davidteachout1888 I feel like the theme of the show was that being more moral doesn't mean going soft, but at the same time, in ESB, Darth Vader personally told him not to disintegrate his targets, and then in chapter 2 of this he was telling the Pikes that drugs were bad and they should be better role models. In Mando season 2 he was fairly honorable and decent while still braining stormtroopers with a murder stick. Here he was neither brutal nor particularly cunning. He couldn't even get the gangs on his side, and didn't seem to have any idea how being a daimyo worked or what to do with his time.

That wouldn't work on them. These droids were designed and built by Colicoid Creation Nest, the same race that made the Destroyer Droids (Droideka's). These are Scorpenek Annihilator droids and are packing far larger and more powerful combination particle-energy shield generators than their much smaller and more modest cousins. These generators were so strong that even fire from the main heavy laser cannon of several AT-TE's wouldn't bring it down, and those cannons were far stronger than even the ones on the Slave I. Short of overwhelming it with something like an orbital bombardment from a turbolaser, the only other way is a massive sustained force that would eventually burn out the generators, or by hitting it from all sides at once with tremendous force/fire and overloading them. Both of which the Rancor provided with relative ease. They were made to be one unit armies capable of annihilating entire fighting forces single-handedly, and they did so to great effect during the Clone Wars. Thankfully these droids were obscenely expensive and hard to produce and only a few hundred were ever built. I'm actually more surprised that the Pyke's even got a hold of one, let alone two of them.

There’s alot more that could be added, like how when fleeing the droid tanks everyone runs in one direction down a long road; they could have easy split up and/or run down the alleys where the droids could not follow. Also kind of ridiculous that wall made of clay withstood cannon fire. And they decided to stand and fight even when they knew their weapons were useless against tank. Also they didn’t just forget about the N1, they also forgot about the slave 1.
And we can even look at cad bane’s role. Really idiotic for him to only show up AFTER the pykes pretty much lost. Best time for him to show up was at the same tome as the tanks. Tanks deal with the fodder while bane protects them from any tricks and handles the big targets like fett and mando...
Oh and that chase scene with the droids went on just long enough for me to think "how have they not managed to out run these slow moving tanks?" Really this whole fight wasn’t really well handled

I had the exact same issues when I saw Boba's "army" (just a handful of people) stading around with big targets on them. I was asking out loud, "Why are they just standing out there? Hide! Or better yet, how about small droids or even just run down to Target and get a few drones!".
As for his strategy of staying in town, I also agree. When he mentioned going back to the palace, I was like, "So they can bomb you from orbit?" LOL
I also thought the Tuskans were a missed opportunity. I thought for sure, the whole build up with him and the sand people was to have them flood in and overrun the Pikes. But, nope. That whole thing was just to give a reason why Boba wasn't bloodthirsty anymore and why he wants to settle down and have a "tribe" and also so he can kill the main bad guy with a gaffi stick. ugh
And not even keeping watch? Din and Boba were just chilling and waiting for news instead of being vigilant. So lame. I disagree with posting Fennec in the tower. I would have had the tower as his base and KEEP WATCH! LOL Not sit back and have a latte while waiting to die.
I disagree with the Mandalorians needing armor because they have honor. They need armor because they have bad battle tactics. In his own series, Din stuck to the walls when he could and used cover. Since he got stuck in Boba Fett's series, he was forced to use the same tactics that idiot used. "Stand there and use brute force". Kinda like when he tried to tackle a wookiee in his underwear. LOL
I kept wondering why they were getting sniped off by the three or four guys on roofs when they have beskar armor and jet packs.
The wookiee's entrance was supposed to show us how badass he was, but it was just comical. He's apparently blaster proof because he was shot multiple times and was still able to drag a handfull of people with him and when he through the one guy and shot him in the air, you could almost see him suspended by wires until he was shot. It was like he through the guy through a section with no gravity. LOL
You didn't mention how, in no scenes of the palace, do you see a town in the background. That means, the palace it probably a mile or two outside town. I'll grant that distance being covered in a minute by jet pack, but Boba left and returned with the rancor within 2 minutes. He had to get back, go inside, saddle-up the rancor and ride it back. I loved the scenes with teh rancor in action (except for the involuntary eye-roll at the King King scene), but if they wanted to use the rancor, they should have shown Boba smuggle it into the building at night. Plus, why was the rancor scared of a little fire? Compared to it, it was like someone using a lighter and hairspray except the rancor has no hair or clothes to burn. It's not particularly flammable since Din filled it's mouth with fire and it didn't seem to hurt it and didn't cause a panic.
This was very poorly done. It was a mediocre series and a mediocre ending. Boba Fett deserved much better after that build up.

No one used granede in close combat situations. The big animal was completely laser proof. So, skin and bones are laser proof. It go hit from high caliber laser cannon but nothing happened. Than Cad bane scared it with his cigarette ligher. Cad bane waited until the end of the war. You hire the most expensive mercenary in the universe and he appears after losing the combat.

I'm starting to feel that the 6-7 episode seasons that Disney+ seem to love just do not work. They don't give enough time for a decent story to unfold whereas the old format of a season lasting 20+ episodes always did. Sure, those longer seasons had filler episodes but at least they always told a complete, coherent story. These shorter seasons seem to swing between a story that isn't even long enough to cover 6 episodes and are stilled filled with filler, or in the opposite direction such as with The Book of Boba Fett, the story needed at a minimum 10 episodes to breath and get everything in. Having a finale which was pretty much just a big battle felt boring almost and certainly unsatisfying.

While I agree that 7 episodes is not enough, IO don't think that they need to go back to the 20+ episode formate either. I think that around 10 - 13 is ideal. Enough episodes to take your time to really flesh out the story without having to hurry to wrap things up in the end, but short enough that you don't need filler episodes to pad out the episode co8unt. Plus, not having filler episodes means that tehy don't have to skimp on the effects to save money, it gives the effects team the time and money to do one or two more passes on their renders to get things to look as good as they can.

@@Riceball01 I completely agree:) I wasn't stating I want the old system back, rather making an observation that the drastic cut from 20+ to 6-7 episodes a season seems to be taking writers in Hollywood a while to get used to. Some take to it well and others do not. Game of Thrones showed us that a series with each season being ten, one hour episodes worked really well. It also showed us that suddenly cutting the amount of episodes in a season, as season 7 did from 10 to 7 and season 8 did from 10 to 6, drastically reduced the quality of the series.

So Boba at one point states he doesn't want the people of the city to suffer and yet decides to bring in a Rancor and demolish buildings one at a time? Talking of which did anyone else get Game of Thrones vibes when Boba manages to jet off to his palace and then ride the Rancor back to the city in a few minutes, lol?
As Alan says the Mando's starfighter or even Boba's Slave 1 would have had much more precise weapons as long as they didn't use torpedo's or bombs. I think holding out at the palace would have been a better move though than making a stand in the middle of the city if he wanted to protect it. Boba knew that the Pyke Syndicate would come for him wherever he was so pulling them from Mos Espa protects it. Leave a few people in the city to make raids or throw bombs into Pyke buildings to keep them guessing, but the palace has defences and most of all two starfighters. Out in the desert they could of gone to town on anything the Pykes brought out there to attack Boba.

Only Mando was really into that death pact… easily my favorite ideological exchange in the entire show… and I don’t think it’s a mistake or necessarily lazy writing to tie these characters fates together so closely.
Din Djarin almost feels like a super naive Mormon kid standing next to Boba Fett. His near blind faith in the Mandalorian creed and subsequent excommunication from the Children of the Watch runs in stark contrast to Boba Fett’s journey through the deserts of Tatooine to find faith and family.
Din’s relationship with the Armorer is straight toxic, and it’s poison to the notion of settling on any common ground with either Paz or to a lesser extent Bo-Katan and whatever’s left of the Nite Owls. Paradoxically Din is probably the only only Mandalorian who would accept Boba Fett as a Mandalorian. It’s maybe debatable whether Boba is actually the son of Jango, but regardless of the complexities/simplicity of their biological relationship Boba is treated as any other Mandalorian child or “foundling” by Jango and that’s likely good enough for Din who was originally a foundling and now has a tribe of two with his own foundling.

Plus it's in an open area, it would have forced the Pikes to fight without cover while Fett's army would have had essentially a fortress in the center of the city.

Just to play devils advocate a bit, the people of free town staying close together kinda makes sense, they are small town people that have at most fought tusken raiders,
I wouldn't expect them to know guerrilla tactics and they are leaderless with out Cobb Vanth to guide them.
and on that note none of the main cast really do larger scale tactics, boba, din djarin and fennec shand are all solo acts for the most part. If cara dune or bo-katan had been leading them like she did with the the light cruiser assault and it still went this way then i would be annoyed at experienced solders being this dumb.

Solo fighters, more than anyone, should know the benefits of mobility in combat (they rely upon it even more than groups do). Yet they mostly just stay still and make themselves targets.
Further more, the whole 'let's protect mos espa' thing was just stupid. They put the town at risk by choosing to fight a pitched battle right in the middle of it. Never even mind the damage likely done by the rancour.

The jetpack move was the first thing i thought they should've used in that fight...why carry a jetpack and use it for 15s? Maybe the fuel doesn't last long and they were reserving since the battle could've lasted longer. But we've seen Mandalorians, clone troopers and any other jetpack or jet boots use them more often...i was kinda disappointed but then i thought that battle would've ended very fast if they did that, so the jetpacks had to be "nerfed" to give the enemies some winning chance cause of narrative...anywho I liked the finale, it has it's flaws(many) and am glad Luke was not in it cause that would've been like bringing Thanos to a Black Widow movie...

I would also add that they had clearly decided who would live and who would die, and it was painfully obvious: The Scorponek droids rarely hitting their target, almost every shot at Boba, Mando, and Black Krrsantan missing, and the way people stood around at crucial moments or had dialogue and were fine. The stakes were all wonky.

Good analysis, but one big point was the en-mass retreat from the droid tanks. They run, as a large group, right down the middle of the longest, straightest street they can find. With huge blasters at your back, the first move would be to scatter- down every available side street, rooftop, stairwell... anything that would offer a chance of cover! Unless stormtroopers were at the firing controls, those droids would have gunned them all down within seconds of their heroic running-away marathon.

  • @chenrayen

I disagree with the premise, Boba was operating under the assumption the crime families would stay neutral so intelligence of the Pikes was top priority and therefore a task all assets should help with.
I will agree once the Freetown Fighters arrive they should have spread out, though they would be poor urban fighters so moving isn’t ideal.
I will say the last episode was satisfactory to me. Wasn’t great but it wrapped things up so we can move on to the Mandalorian Season 3 (tho Grogu is already reunited, and the N1 so that’s a sucky start if just looking at the series as a stand-alone)

Does anyone else think that in these last few episodes (the finale episode is the worst of it) Grogu oddly looks a little "faker" (for lack of a better term) and he's now walking more like a puppet, similar to how Yoda was in the original trilogy. In the first 2 seasons of the Mandalorian they used cgi to make him walk pretty smoothly and believably, but it seems like in TBOBF his movements are choppy and kind of jarring. It takes me out of the moment while watching the show because it's just so obviously choppy and unpolished. I'm kind of surprised that production quality seems somewhat lower then in The Mandalorian. It's a bit disappointing really.
