I’m so mad that George didn’t get nominated for an Oscar. I really feel that these two should’ve received much more recognition for their incredible performances. I felt everything, every second of the film. I feel like I got hit by a bus.
I agree too! I think this film, the director, the actors, along with the cinematographer -- everything about this film still blows me away and it should have swept the Oscars!
This movie broke me down and rebuilt me within a span of two hours. I couldn’t breathe at all throughout it. This film was astounding in every way. They looked like real soldiers. I think that with them not being well known to American audiences really helped with that. They look like real people and it made it so much more nerve wracking and powerful.
That's exactly the feeling that the director (Sam Mendes) wanted to give by picking to "unknown" actors even though I've known George's journey for 6 years😂. This movie it's really amazing, I've loved it.
dani By the amount of likes that your comment has, I am assuming your a sadist. Seriously though. I don’t watch the show because it’s too dark and I understand why it’s a good show. This is not criticism of it but I can’t manage the poor guy suffering.
Mr. chair how does the amount of likes my comment has make me a sadist? 😂 anyway, i completely understand why you don’t like it, it is quite dark and i actually didn’t like for just that reason when i first watched it. but the more i watched it the more i liked it. it depicts dark things that could very well happen and ignorance isn’t bliss.
Near the beginning of his career- guys he was in bloody Peter pan for Christ's sake.thats how long he's been acting. A child actor gone right. He's matured in the industry.
I am 61 years old and have my first man crush in years. Love George and busy watching all his films, there is something very open and honest about his demeanor. Lovely . The best film of this year and dont give a rats ass, no pun intended, about what Hollywood thinks.
A fine observation Stephanie, and I love the the way you built me up with the the phrase 'Open and honest demeanor' then kicked the chair from under me with 'Rats ass'. Relax... I got the movie reference! Best wishes, and enjoy the first of the spring sun and the hope that it provides. 🌞 🏆🇬🇧
Never cried over a movie. I always feel the heaviness or the weight of the emotion but I never get to the point where I shed a wet one. Fantastic movie though
BuzzRatchet yeah this was the first movie I’ve seen that made a tear come from my eye, I’ve had wet eyes over a movie, but NEVER had a tear running down my cheek, I couldn’t help it!
And The Wild Bean Appears Well .. As I said before , there is a book called Ophelia by Lisa Klein And the movie based on that book , the film follows the story of Hamlet from Ophelia's perspective
@@mightbeLara Why aren't the people simply saying that their movie is based on this book instead of acting as if it was the filmmaker's original idea? I watched a 6 minute interview with the actors and director about the movie and nobody even mentioned that book
Also their take on Ophelia was so predictable. Everytime authors try to give a "modern take" on female characters in medieval stories they always make them be healers or a scientist analyzing plants in her hidden laboratory, looking like witches. When authors feel more inspired, they simply create a typical male character and genderswap him into a her. It's incredibly unoriginal. And, somehow, authors are still out there patting themselves on the back for being oh so progressive. Ophelia deserved better.
The thing that made me mad is that for school, We watched it in theater and most people cried not because Blake died, but because of the dead dog a few minutes before.
This movie was sad but my friend was crying while i was laughing at certain parts while my mom just looked at me like im a crazy person and i really do think i may be a psychopath
I know that they sold this movie mainly on its technical aspect ie “one long shot “ but to me it’s more about the emotional side effects f the story which these 2 guys projected so brilliantly and I felt it. So I’m quite disappointed that they esp George didn’t get a nod on this film.
listen i love george mckay but if i hear him talk one more time about the specificity of the ‘master’ actors one more time i might punch him in the face
Everyone’s talking about George but what about Dean! I’d say I have a crush on him, he was s amazing in the film and so was George but dean was my absolute fav and I was so sad when he died, they killed him off so early and that is just not fair. Also I feel like dean deserves a lot more credit than he is getting, he is an amazing actor but most people focus on George because he was in most of the move. Don’t get me wrong, George is amazing to I loved all of his scenes so much but like give deanmore credit Yeah, I definitely have a crush on dean....

I'm glad you agree because I'm absolutely fuming he was so good give the man the freaking oscar
Celeste Cormier yes!!!
Totally agree !
That's what I thought too. Biased fucking Oscar.
I agree too! I think this film, the director, the actors, along with the cinematographer -- everything about this film still blows me away and it should have swept the Oscars!

The Short Critic Dean-Charles Chapman was in game of thrones so they might recognise him but most likely wouldn’t.

I am officially in love with George mackay after seeing his performance in this incredible film

1:51 just waiting for somebody to look at me the way George is looking at Dean
dean: don’t look at me like that

Dean’s accent is so adorable too
Anybody who liked George in 1917 should watch Pride, VERY different film but he is brilliant in it and it's right near the beginning of his career
Daisy Webster-Kincaid George has been acting since the age of 10.
Love that movie

George’s sense of humour 😂😂
Kimmy Fangirl Dean: “The rats were good actors” George: “They were beast, there was one that was actually a cat in a rat costume” 🤣🤣
george is hot ron weasley
Their faces are quite similar
I SAID EXACTLY THE SAME THING!!
They look nothing alike and you are literally insulting one actor on something they can’t control.
So basically george weasley
George is hot. period
this is like the 10th george interview I've watched in the last couple of days and the amount of times he's said *specificity* is adorable

what is the difference? just like location wise- im from the south of the united states so i dont mean to seem insulting or anything
Amber yeah
Dean has an Essex accent - east of London and George has a normal educated London accent.

Sychlo Killent I think I heard a bit of a Liverpool or North of England accent there.

When I watched this in the cinema everyone started clapping when it ended
Same happened when I was in the cinema!
he was such a hottie in the film Ophelia I'm in love with him
The movie should have been about Hamlet. Ophelia was kind of boring. She was only moved around by the plot, not really influencing the events.
