    You’ll never know how much I enjoyed this. My girls are grown so no shopping for me. I’m a teacher so I’ve always shopped for my class but this is my first year to be retired-I miss the smell of crayons. I may pick some up along with a coloring book book for me!!

      Weird thought but maybe if you have a little extra cash you could shop for kids who can't afford supplies

    Tiffany, I’m so glad you mentioned about not feeling bad if you can’t afford to buy all the supplies. That stuff does get expensive and some families just can’t afford all that stuff. I’m old now, but I’m sure growing up my family would never have been able to buy all that for 6 kids.

      It really does! When my oldest kiddos first started school, my husband and I were putting ourselves through college and money was TIGHT! When I got the school supply list, I remember just crying. Crying because I didn't have the money in my budget to buy all these extra items. It wasn't until a friend of mine pointed out that at the top of our district's supply list, it said, "These items are suggestions. The school will provide all supplies necessary for learning." And that is true - they have to. Schools are publicly funded with tax money and schools are required to include a supply budget. Does it get the teachers everything they NEED or truly want for their classroom? Absolutely not. But the families that can afford to buy the supplies, do and those that can afford to buy more typically do, and then the community always provides through supply drives or donations. Now, as a school counselor, I feel it is my job to inform families that they shouldn't strap themselves or take from food budgets to provide their child with supplies that we at the school can supply them with.

    Am I a mom? No. Do I have any children in my life whatsoever that I would need to do this for? Absolutely not! Did I still watch this entire video? You bet.
    This was incredibly therapeutic to watch even though I am in 8th grade and only need to buy for myself, thanks for making a long-form video for me to watch while I organize my own supplies for the upcoming year haha.

    I'm a retired educator. I love school supplies! I just decluttered my daily journals, to do books, list books, etc. I love pens and sketch books. It's a good thing!

  • @pennysantana7809

    🤣🤣 I will say, I am so happy I don't have to do that . But I use to do my supplies the same exact way.
    We are a family of 5, so I know how it can be especially with my kiddos had a uniform school as well.
    Thank you for putting that disclaimer in your video. I taught special needs for 20 years so I fully understand se not having that income of uniforms or supplies, I always bought extra for classes mine and my kiddos.
    I had one year when teachers for my kiddos would call my class and have.my son or daughters come in for supplies out of my cabinets.
    Happy new school year, have a wonderful year and many blessings.
    God bless 🙏💞

    Oh man! I wish all our supplies could fit in that size of a bag! I always have to bring one of the TJ Maxx reusable bags you find in the front!

    • @CharlotteGroveFarmhouse
      @CharlotteGroveFarmhouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, all the supplies don't fit in those bags. I put the Kleenex and Chlorox wipes and everything else in their backpacks. But these bags are so easy to carry.

    Hi, Tiffany! There r sliding drawers that u can buy off Amazon to retrofit cabinets that don’t have shelves. They screw into the cabinet bottom and work really well. They’re a little bit pricey, but it’s an option u may not have known about so I thought I’d mention it to u.

    • @CharlotteGroveFarmhouse
      @CharlotteGroveFarmhouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have been thinking about that too! I definitely would like to have something. I just feel like there is so much wasted space happening.

    • @loricawley54
      @loricawley54 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CharlotteGroveFarmhouse We installed one of the sliding drawers in a deep bottom pantry shelf, and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself lol!

  • @annfoehner4240
    @annfoehner4240 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't have kids so gathering school items wasn't of interest, but you do have a great way of making sure you've got each child's items they need. I was more interested in the drawer organization. Shame to see summer coming to an end seems to have flown by. Now if winter would just go as fast I'd be happy

    • @CharlotteGroveFarmhouse
      @CharlotteGroveFarmhouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video. As a retired teacher, I find back to school a bittersweet time of year. I found it interesting you did not write your boys names on their school supplies.

    • @CharlotteGroveFarmhouse
      @CharlotteGroveFarmhouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Linda! I totally agree with you - incredibly bittersweet. As for writing their names on their supplies, the supplies aren't always just theirs. Sometimes things get shared with the class as a whole, so the teachers ask that everything comes without names.

    Hi Tiffany 🌄,
    This gave me ideas 💡 on making my own get ready for the class. I was on a sabbatical these past few months, due to my health, (I'm doing fine), so I'm ready, kind of, to go back alot more organized. I really enjoyed this. You are so right, Diane! It takes a special kind of person to work with the kiddos that need the most support.
